This restaurant have veggies and steak. My friends went here last 3 days ago. We had fun especially my vegetarian friends cause the food was always fresh. Aside from food, the place also is cool it is clean and fresh to dine with. Above all they have good quality of food.

This is one of the only "natural" restaurants that can please vegetarians as well as people who aren't. Most restaurants that offer vegetarian or "natural" food often leave meat-eaters unsatisfied. This place, however, will please all.

I used to go to this restaurant years ago and it was fabulous. The food was fresh, tasty, and you could go with both veggie and meat eaters. I had the bad idea recently to bring my family to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we basically ordered everything in the menu. BAD IDEA!!!! The food is so badly prepared these days that even the nachos were awful. The dishes have not been adjusted since the early nineties, and have absolutely no balance and poor seasoning. It is as if they process every dish to remove any vestige of flavor. To boot, if you have the bad idea of looking into the kitchen, you'll see grime everywhere. I have been in plenty of developing world places that would make yoru skin crawl, and this one is just as bad. DIsgusting! To add insult to injury, the prices are way out of line for the flavorless cuisine they serve, and they don't have anywhere to change a child's diaper. I had to go into the dsigustingly filthy women's bathroom and put my son on a atrociously dirty 24" long table that was even filthier than the kitchen. With such nicer joints all around, I can't even imagine why they have stayed in business.

Not sure where to dine with your vegetarian & organic friends? Head over to Spring Street Natural. Their menu has a selection that will please everyone. This extends to their beverage menu. A nice selection of wines to pair with your organic (or non) meal. Even better - they offer a good selection of beers on tap. Including Peak Organic.

This a great little spot to get away from the throngs shopping along Spring and sit at the bar for a quick bite or drink as well.

Thoughtful and helpful staff as well. This winter my infant niece lost a shoe, when I called, and went back to retrieve it, they went out of their way to ensure we got it back.

Put this one on your list.

The atmosphere is friendly and the service is excellent, whether you are at the bar or at a table. Have tried their Chile Relleno, no meat, shitake mushrooms and deep fried in a light tempura type of batter. There Ceasar Salad with grilled calamari is a must. The calamari are well seasoned and crunchy. Don't pass on the spring rolls either and keep an eye on the specials. You will always get a good recommendation for a wine. Mind you that the suggestion does not point at the most expensive libation. If you are in the mood for dessert, well, the carrot cake is unique. Sweet but not overwhelmingly so. You can taste the carrots and indulge in the orange and chocolate syrup that spark the plate. If in the hood, Spring Street Natural is your hangout!!!!!

what I love about this place is it's tasty, thoughtful and a good value. It also has something for everyone. I can bring my vegan buddies with me and can have their hanger steak that I crave.

I really love this restaurant. I?ve been going there for about 20 years and it?s still as great as always, offering fine, delicious, healthy food and a great atmosphere to go alone or with friends. It?s decently priced when you consider the location and the quality of the food. They offer a wide variety of tasty and well-prepared dishes?from completely vegan and organic when possible to free-range meats and poultry.

My girlfriends and I love this restaurant when we come to New York. They specialize in organic and vegetarian dishes. The space is large, and can accommodate a good sized group. There is a bar also.

I work near Spring Street Natural, and went in to get a take-out salad for lunch at the office. My first time ordering there. I ordered the Asian Salad (lunch: $10.50) plus the grilled jumbo shrimp, bringing the total to $15.50. More than this working girl usually tries to spend for lunch, but what the heck, right? I just opened the take-out bag up back at the office and am AMAZED. For my extra $5, I got THREE overcooked shrimp. THREE?! And they're not even well-cooked! The salad is a huge disappointment, as well. Canned pineapple, mostly the white inner leaves of lettuce, and the miso dressing leaves a lot to be desired. It's somehow both bitter AND tasteless. Don't ask me how they accomplished that trick. I should have listened to other people's reviews. Seriously -- I'm just a receptionist from down the street, so I'm extra bitter I spent my hard-earned cash on this elegantly-packaged rubbish. But even if you have money to burn, WHY SPEND IT HERE? Don't go in!

Cons: Over-priced. Tastes bad.

Both times I've gone, I've gone alone, for lunch, and just like the person who reviewed this place before me, I was treated VERY poorly. I was seated in the worst table...hidden from the rest of the restaurant. It took at least 15 minutes before ANYONE came to offer water, or take my order. THEN, it took another 20 minutes to get my appetizer (a simple salad) OR any water. The prices are obnoxious too. For a mid-sized ceasar salad with 3 shrimp...cost $15.00. All in all, the food is not bad, but the service and the 2 hours it took to serve me completely eclipse the quality of the food. If they deliver, I would recommend that. You are NOT missing anything by not going there.

Took my grandma here for a healthy alternative. If you're going to charge $8 for roasted organic tofu appetizer, it better taste good. They took 3 triangles of tofu and just put some peanut sauce on it, instead of cooking it in the sauce. You could tell that they were two separate items - tofu and sauce, they didn't blend at all. I ordered the stir fried organic vegetables w/ seafood and it was just okay. She had the pumpkin ravioli, which was alright as well, only because it was semi-different. She also had the tea, which was overpriced for $3. It was basically a tea bag in a tiny teapot of water that held barely 8 oz. Go elsewhere, please.

This is a great place to go for lunch. Casual but clean. Great sophistacated yet comfy atmosphere. The food is consistently delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I recommend any of the salads, especially the Southwestern Chicken Salad. I get it every time. It is sooo good!!! Even if you're not a salad person you should order it. It's worth it! The best part of the whole place is the INCREDIBLE bread they serve before the meal. What is in that stuff! It's like this buttery pumpkin bread...my goodness is that stuff ever tasty and addictive! Prices are good as well.

I don't really get all the bad reviews. There are few places in New York that I find worth revisiting, simply because there are so many amazing restaurants to go to and I want to try them all. But I've been to Spring Street Natural twice in the past month, once for brunch and once for lunch. I loved it both times. The corn crusted tofu is amazing, and the egg dishes are so good! I went with a friend who has very strict dietary limitations and they were very accommodating. Also, the prices cannot be beat in this part of town. My only complaint was that our waiter was a bit rude on my first visit, but he warmed up by the end. All in all, it's really good, and I'm going back a third time this month so I can show my boyfriend how good it is.

we were seated at a dirty table (crumbs and grease), which had been set nonetheless. The we were a menu that had butter stuck to it! We left. totally unacceptable, no matter how busy it gets!

I've only eaten at the restaurant once, but I get delivery frequently. The almond veggie burger is excellent and great to eat on a lazy friday movie night. I don't like that there is a minimum delivery amount, but not a huge deal. Delivery is usually quick, although I am sometimes put on hold for a few minutes. Additionally, they are not consistent with what they include in the meal - sometimes I get bread, sometimes I don't.

This might be one of my favorite restaurants in New York City that doesn't require a special occassion to visit. The prices are excellent - especially for the quality. I love everything I have had here so far - and basically agonize over the menu because I just know I will love it all.

Is this a resturant or just a place for people to "be seen"........

This place has the worst service. Waited 20 mins for a table and another 15 mins to be waited on to only have the waiter be RUDE to us. The waiter gave me the wrong drink, told me to keep it and he would take it off the bill but of course did not deduct it off the bill in the end.
We found egg shells in the smoke salmon eggs benedict and the hollondiase sauce was missing ,which is the best part of an eggs benedict dish. The omelette we ordered was over done with no taste and the fries were burnt.
What a disappointment , I would not reccommend this place nor ever go back to eat there again.

This was has been a Soho fixture for many years. It started as a strictly macrobiotic restaurant and has become looser over time. Now it's kinda sorta health oriented. Slightly on the expensive side, but not for Soho. At 9 the place was crowded. At 10 it was nearly empty. As for food: The pumpkin ravioli was very good, and unlike anything I've had. The others in our group were happy with the taste of the food, if not the somewhat small portions. Our servers were friendly although somewhat less than attentive. Hello? Hello? Anybody here? --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers.

went for sunday brunch today around 12:30, no wait at all. Couldn't get seats outside, but sat by window. waiters courteous. delicious almond veggie burger, first time i've ever had one..moist, hearty, and very fresh ingredients. homemade catsup to go with excellent fries (not too greasy, crisp yet soft inside). Really good bread basket with multigrain rolls and a moist pumpkin bread. Cheap brunch, $30 for two of us. Clean, relaxed, yet soho chic. will definitely go again, i loved having a healthy yet completely satisfying meal instead of the usual rich eggs/pancakes/french toast route (though they have that too--probably excellent)

I have been to this particular restaurant twice, most recently Sat. 7/22/06. The food as usual was excellent but the service was so atrocious. The waiter seemed annoyed to be serving us, he never came back after the food was served to see if I needed another soft drink or to even ask if the food was ok. When he initially brought out our drinks, my wife asked him for bread, he never brought it out. Just to get our check was a hassle in and of itself. I wound up tipping him 10 percent. So, as a I said, this is a great place if you have plenty of time to wait around for service.

Went here July 13. Was seated at a booth in the back, near the kitchen. We had just received our drinks when a r-o-a-c-h the size of my thumb crawled up the arm of my boyfriend, who seated across from me. Utterly grossed out, he jumped up and tried to find it while I got a hold of the host and asked to be reseated (would have just left if I hadn't gotten my drink). At first he was brusque and, bored/rude, asked what the problem was with where he sat us. I explained the vermin-crawling-on-my-boyfriend situation. Unstirred, he told me "I didn't seat you; ask her," pointing to the hostess next to him. Only he HAD sat us, which he then realized moments later. At this point my boyfriend trapped the b-u-g beneath his messenger bag and managed to (a) squish it and (b) throw it out. Many children and yuppie onlookers in the packed dining room. Our fearless waitress ran into the kitchen for cover while this all played out. The couscous appetizer we were eventually served smelled strongly of acetone--obviously gone bad--I've made couscous salad before at home and it smells that way when it's turned. Not wanting to run the risk of complaining again, but not wanting to eat food that smelled strongly of Cutex nail polish remover, we sent it back. The host, while apologetic, proceeded to tell us that he tasted the salad we sent back and that it was the gorgonzola that probably smelled weird. I know what gorgonzola tastes/smells like, Thanks. The salad was bad.
Finally, it was necessary to order a beer three times before it arrived.
Though he comped us our drinks, I was disappointed during this visit. I've been there a half dozen times before and have generally enjoyed the food and service. But I don't think I'll be going back--not worth the time/money and distraction of looking at my sandaled feet constantly, expecting large vermin to crawl up my leg any moment. They need to exterminate there.

i've only been here so far with my girlfriends and i love coming here. i think i've had the tuna salad, some sort of sandwich, the hummus platter, and the fried calamari... all were great! i love organic food. i haven't had dinner here yet but i'm surprised to hear other people say that the food was bland as usually in my experience, organic food is the most flavorful. anyway, this is one of my favorite spots to get a drink and a light snack with my girlfriends.

why this place is so crowded! I've been twice(to give it a second chance) and was a little let down. Honestly, the food is a bit bland and it seems that the food is prepared with little thought and care(wilted lettuce, cheese chunks too large for salad).
I really want to like it, but I just can't say that it's worth the price. The service is good, but in once case we waited over an hour for our food and we only ordered salad!

Whenever I have dinner plans with people I don't really know, I go here. Not too expensive, great atmosphere, food options for all sorts of diets. The bathroom is ridiculously tiny. The bread basket used to be better, but I always eat it up anyway. It's also close to the 6 and the N/R/W trains, a big plus for me.

It's been a long time since I went to Spring Street, having first ventured here over 20 years ago. I am happy to say the experience was great once again! Good organic food, freshly prepared, and a great location! All that salad--It's a green thing, people.

It never disappoints! I go to Spring St. anytime I want great food at a reasonable price. It's a nice casual restaurant where you can enjoy your meal without being rushed! This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in New York!

Pros: Food, Ambience

Terrible food. The only thing my entire party could taste is garlic. I had a caesar salad that was dripping in disgusting garlic dressing or some sort.

You really can't beat Spring Natural for great, organic food at a reasonable price. And their bread basket is really excellent. It often gets mistaken for a vegetarian restaurant, which it's not....although I don't think there is any beef on the menu (but there is plenty of fish and chicken). Great service and a great enviornment.

I keep having dinner here because their location, food, and service are all too good for the reasonable price. I can bring my vegetarian friends while I satisfy my craving for fish.

I've only been here two times, but both times my food was really good and the place wasn't too crowded or noisy. The bread basket alone is delicious, and they have many choices of organic food whether you're vegetarian or not. I was happy to find bluefish here, which I don't see often, and the simple rice, vegetable, and seaweed platter was very satisfying. The prices are reasonable, the waitstaff is nice, and I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone.
