What a great menu, so many unique vegetarian choices as well as meat dishes.we ordered the calamari appetizer and the hummus/bread. Calamari was delish, lightly breaded rings with a mild creamy dipping sauce. Hummus was fresh as expected.

I went with a group of friends of mine at this restaurant and we served dinner. The service was terrible; the waiter confused our food and the busboy did not clean the table after we served appetizers. He said to us that they are very busy. The waiter did not understand what we ordered and he brought us salmon instead of swordfish. Also, the place is very noisy, very unpleasant for a good conversation. Moreover, we saw bugs on the table and I gave up to serve my dinner.
My advice is that you do not waste your time and money in this restaurant.

For sure, one of the best Turkish restaurant in NYC!!! The atmosphere is fun and great for people-watching. The waiters are also super-friendly and informative, and most importantly, the food is DELICIOUS!! I'm Turkish, so I know what I'm talking about. Everything, from the many appetizers, to the main courses, to the desserts, and the full bar with Turkish wines was fantastic!! Can't wait to go back!

I went to this restaurant on Halloween, and it was awesome! Fun, friendly staff, excellent food, and great prices. It was fun to see everyone in costumes, and families stopping in with their kids throughout the evening for Halloween. The interior is relaxed and intimate, and would be great for a snack at the bar, a date, or an evening out with family and friends. They also have tables on the sidewalk, so you can enjoy dining outside when the weather is nice.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the UES. The food here is superb. My friends and I really enjoy all the appetizers, esp the hummus. The staff is friendly and the restuarant has a great vibe. The price is reasonable compared to other places in the area - so make sure you check this place out.

I went with a group of three people and we ordered 7 Meze (like tapas, small appetizer portions) to share. We had hummus, a tapenade of peppers and olives, falafel, a spinach yogurt sauce, these feta rolls, tomato soup with goat cheese- it was all delicious. And all of it served with unlimited fluffy, tasty bread. We all ate our fill and it only cost $45 total. Not bad for Upper East Side and a great place to sample great Mediterranean cuisine.

Called last night for a reservation for two persons and a baby in a stroller...
"Oh! My God! in a stroller!", "Yes, I would have given you a reservation if you were only two... we are very busy".
Not a family restaurant but still, I found the attitude quite discriminating, rather than proposing an hour when they are less busy...
I leave it to your appreciation... cannot give them a good rating.

My husband and I have been here several times, and really enjoy the food and the atmosphere. We usually just get a bunch of Tapas and share. Love their hummus, and feta rolled in phyllo dough! We typically go on Fridays and it is really busy, but we have not made reservations and we luck out with getting a table rather quickly! The service is very good.

You can eat a lot of food and have a few glasses of wine and not break the bank here! Their prices are very good!

I rarely take the time to write a review , but i had to share. My company had its annual party at Beyoglu.
It was great. Different from any other year.. The food kept arriving throughout the night. The vodka we had ordered came incased in ice in the form of a giant cristal how did they do it? We were served platters of kebabs, and whole branzino, and stripped bass. The big surprise was the belly dancer, which danced with almost all( the ones that were not shy) that just transformed the entire room. The staff was attentive and welcoming, They told us that our party was on the same day as an important eastern islamic holiday, and they gave treated us with hommemade turkish delight. Everything was simply supperb. Most of us will be going back for New Years Eve , their menu is for the evening is amazing. Thanks Dan for choosing Beyoglu, and thank you Beyoglu staff. To all reading : I hope you all enjoy Beyoglu as much as us at AVIS New York.

We just came home from dinner at Beyoglu.Althouh we hadnt seen each other we did not stop talking about beyoglu all the way home.Great service, the staff was attentive and very friendly. We had two different types of Turkish red wine , great recomendation by the manager( both at 30$) the best grilled Branzino for only 19$ . they are famous for their mezes, deffinately the best type of tapas we have sampled. For dessert they served an assorted platter ,it was sweet but not overpowering. The best thing is that thy took time to show their culture in a modern new york environment. At the end the staff was thankful for our interest , when we were the one that had a meal enjoyed our evening.. Thanks guys. We cant wait until New Years Eve , to be thir again..

I did not expect to have such a great time at Beyoglu when I visited it this week with a big group of friends. The food is absolutely fantastic. Be sure to try the mezes and the shepherd salad, as well as the lamb shish kebab, which comes with delicious potatoes. The place is not expensive, and this is one of the few Turkish restaurants that actually offers authentic Turkish food and hospitality. The waiting staff was also extremely helpful. The manager is superb, and made sure our large company had a great time. We are definitely coming back to Beyoglu.

About 4 years ago i started working at this amazing restaurant called "Beyoglu", after 1.5 years i thought it was time for me to move on, but let me tell you something, never anybody treated me with as much respect than in this place. Today i am a manager in an other restaurant and if i went this far is because of George, the GM at Beyoglu. He always respected his employees and taught me a lot in order for me to go faward. Once in a while i like to go Beyoglu, not only for the food which is always consistent, but also because George and his team always treat you the best they can even when they are insanly busy .Today when i read that very nasty review about the GM i thought to myself: i cannot imagine what a miserable person could write something this bad and false about someone, that is why i wanted to share with you readers, the experience i had at this place, as a former employee and a current custumer, which is until this day the best one.

I cant believe that any one can say write this about George.
Shame on you to hide behind anonymity and try to hurt Beyoglu and your former collegues, with these horrible lies George is always welcoming and would never insult anyone. We all know who the author of the negaitve review is-lost his job at beyoglu last week., i do not think that Citysearch is the place to try to damage the restaurants reputation . With regrards to the tips. We would like to inform the author, this has never been the case . Not only that it is a crime in NYC , but slander in case of such a serious offence can be grounds of legal action. For anyone in doubt please visit Beyoglu and ask any mmeber of the staff.
Again shame on you.

Well I work at Beyoglu. And I just want everybody to know that we have a very friendly staff. And we do give a good service compare to prices in the menu. Whoever walk inside always receive smile and nice "Good evening how can i help you?" We treat all the customers in the same way. About George I belive he does his job very well. Because if he was not i dont think he would run the restaurant for 7 years. And in my opinion whoever wrote than review first off all does not have a respect to her/himself. Cause if you have something to say you say it in the face. People like to judge others but just a little of us can judge ourselfs. Well my advice to that "person" look inside yourself first maybe youll find something interesting. And dont say about things you cant proof. And for everybody else you are very welcome to our great Beyoglu and i can promise you that you will have a great time delicious food and you will step out with the smile on your face.

George, the manager of Beyoglu, may appear to be a nice guy at first. Every customer is greeted with what appears to be a polite demeanor, a smile plastered awkwardly on his face. However, the moment that the customer has turned her back, the manager's vulgar nature surfaces. "She is obviously a [four-letter-word]" he will snidely remark to a passing member of the restaurant staff. Woe to the wait person who appears to be aghast or horrified by George's bile; those who do not share George's cruel humor will be singled out for further abuse. This abuse, levied by the manager, will run the gamut from public humiliation to, lowest of the low, seizure of their tips. Verily, behind a thin mask of decorum lies a maleficent and repugnant person.

I finally tried this restaurant last weekend, and I LOVED it!! The food was delicious, and very well-priced (cheap!)! The staff was soo accommodating to our 9 person table, and we had the best evening! The crowd was classy, and the general ambiance was perfect - authentic, but also modern. I cannot get over how good the food was - I'm still thinking about it!! DEFINITELY GO!!

I am a nursing mother of a young baby. While we out to dinner with another couple, my daughter became hungry and wanted her dinner as well. I was asked by the management to either stop nursing or leave the restaurant. Apparently I had offended the Muslim people(dressed in typical American attire) sitting near us by nursing my daughter in public. This is a natural thing to do and it is not a dirty thing. It's good for the baby and healthy too. We were so very upset, I'm sure you can imagine this. We left . All I have to say is, don't eat where your American way of life is not honored and taken seriously. We will never go back there and our friends won't either. Please think carefully how you spend your dollars. You never know where they could end up.

Don't be put off by Turkish. It's really Mediterranean/Greek/Italian. Yes, there's hummus, but also spinach with garlic and yoghurt, shrimp and a nice white wine list. The service was upbeat and friendly, even when one of us boke a wine glass.

this is restaurant is pretty nice and the food is very good so it is surprising that it is SO CHEAP. the service is really pretty terrible, but friendly and apologetic for being terrible, so if youre not in a rush it's no big deal. the bread is amazing and so are the fried cheese appetizers. good kebabs and dinner salads. pretty bumping for a tuesday - should probably make a reservation. really cute outdoor seating. i had a couple glasses of wine, an appetizer, and an entree for like $26 including tax/tip. cant beat that in NYC, especially if youre looking for a place without disposable flatware.

Years ago, I spent 6 months Istanbul. Pano, in Beyoglu, was my favorite place. I USED to love Beyoglu because, although not as good as Pano, you could have a similar experience. My most recent visit was a nightmare. Three of us ordered a bottle of wine and a mix of appetizers, salads and entrees. I ordered more than 8 items, "to start". I asked the waiter to bring everything in whatever order was easiest, but only 3 dishes at a time. He told me, and the manager confirmed, that restaurant policy allowed only "TWO trips from the kitchen." We had to have all of our food in two courses, regardless of how much we ordered. That would be absurd at a diner. At a Turkish restaurant it is insulting and unforgivable. In Turkey, you don't even order your courses all at once. We walked out.

I have been here many times, sometimes with adults only and sometimes with kids. We almost never order entrees. The service can be distant at times - and I suspect this is because they are disappointed that we aren't ordering more - but I have never experienced rudeness of the type I see described here, and in many cases they have been very friendly. We love the spinch/yogurt, hummus, eggplant salad, kofte, and the desserts - halvah and baklava. We think the bread is delicious and always have to ask for more. Everyone from kids to our aging parents who are new to Turkish food has loved it. It can be crowded, so make a reservation, but overall I would recommend this place. It is also a great value if you stick to appetizers and desserts.

I've been to Beyoglu many times. The first few it was completely amazing - great food, service, you name it. Then things started taking a turn for the worse. THe food was cold when it should be hot, hot when it should be cold - the Babaganoush tasted like garbage, and the other mezzes were just *ehh*. I went back recently with a friend - it was supercrowded so I thought things must've gotten better. All that wait for nothing! My service was terrible - not just slow (it was), but RUDE. Eye-rolling, food-rushing rude. I can tell you for certain, it's them, not me.

The food was above average only, a bit too much garlic. Also, one problem is they charge for olive oil. But, the service is friendly and helpful in a way that is beyone words. I was in a horrible mood upon entering the restaurant and unfortunately I took it out on the waitress. She never failed to smile and treat me with complete respect. By the end of the meal I was in a great mood and she got a wonderful tip. I would return again just for the service.

Yummy! I don't know why this restaurant received such negative reviews. This place is great!! The food was absolutely impeccable!!! It was a highly sensuous meal with an orchestra of flavors and colors. The beautifully presented vegetarian platter served as our meze and the doner kebabs kept our taste buds yearning for more. When you step foot into the lavish restaurant you feel as if you should be paying more. But this place is an absolute steal!

I had heard many good things about Beyoglu but I was very dissapponted with both the food and service. The meze was ordinary and the donor kebab was cold. In addition our non Turkish speaking waitress was inept and in short an idiot. Being a Turk, I know what good Turkish food is so don't waste your time and money at Beyoglu. For a truly great dining experience in terms of food and service go to the Turkish Kitchen on third avenue.

We really enjoyed the ambience of this venue. The first time we went the waiter was great, the second time not so great. The food is always incredible, I like to think of it as turkish tapas. The eggplant is wonderful. We order lots of appetizers and then one or two main meals for the four of us to split. This works well because you get to try lots of different dishes. I would go once a week if I could. It's great!

I live in the neighborhood. The place seems crowded a lot so we tried it tonight. The food was bland, bland, bland. The chicken for the special was average deli meat. The swordfish resembled the chicken (literally). The bread was like pizza crust without the pizza to recommend it. The waiter should ask for his laundrymat job back.

IF MIDDLE-EASTERN /TURKISH/GREEK DISHES APPEAL TO YOU...GO DIRECTLY TO BEYOGLU & EXPECT GREAT HUMMUS, EXTREMELY SMOKEY EGGPLANT SPREAD(BABAGHANOUH).THE OCTOPUS SALAD IS A WINNER ASWELL. ORDER THE VEGETARIAN ENTREE AS GOOD SAMPLER FOR TWO...I COULD GO ON & ON SINCE THE APPETIZER MENU WASENTICING & LONG.

WE FOUND THE SERVICE VERY POLITE & ACCEPTABLE FOR A BUSY SUNDAY PM. PRICES ARE EXTREMELY FAIR.ALLOWING ONE TO ORDER FREELY WITHOUT RISK OF A STEEP TAB. WE HAD DINNER THE NITE BEFORE AT MILOS...THE CUISINE WAS NOT THAT DISSIMILAR..BUT PLEASURE/COST RATIO MADE BEYOGLU A CLEAR WINNER. JBARIE

Ignore the negative reviews - their expecations are skewed. No - it's *no* "Turkish Kitchen" (God Bless That Place!) but this is a great place for what it is - kick back for a bit and have some authentic meze. I'm from this part of the world, and must say the eats were pretty good. NOT a date spot, or "grab the posse for a Dinner Night out". Point is: MUCH better choice than the local diner for some "pre-drinking/partying" yums ...

The most delicious food on the UES. I went last night with a friend -- we got a table right away and the service was friendly and helpful. But the food! The hummus and philo/feta mezes are outstanding. Delicious. We kept re-ordering everything. The prices are very reasonable as well. It's a must go!

The food is good if you like appetizers and desserts, but the waiter's attitude is terrible. The whole service was incredibly bad. Since we hated the service we tipped him 5%. The pig immediately came back and told us that we had to tip more. What a beggar... I have never been or seen a situtation like this before. Luckily, the manager was kind enough to apologize on waiter's behalf. If you don't want to be rushed when you are eating and be shown more respect to yourself rather than your wallet, don't go to this restaurant.

This place has the look of someone's second floor apartment with a few tables thrown in and some waiters running around. The food was tasty and cheap but nothing great. It took 25 minutes for them to seat our table of four even while seating two other groups of four, and then stuck us next to the coat rack, which is just thrown in the corner of the place. We ordered wine and it took another 20 minutes to get that. Also, with our appetizers we got four slices of bread for four people, so the bread bowl was empty the whole time. There are about four main dishes, hardly a selection. Basically, the place just makes you want to throw some cash on the table and get out of there.

Having lived in Istanbul, I can certify that Beyoglu serves very authentic and delicious Turkish cuisine. If you are unfamiliar with that country's foods, start with the yogurt soup (hot, creamy, and savory), a Coban Salata (with just the right amount of mint), the ezme (perfectly spiced chopped meat meze), and the Iskender Kabob. Add an order of hummus if you have room as a perfect complement to their wonderful, fresh bread. If you're not in the mood for wine, try the Efes Bira: a perfect complement to the above suggested menu. Don't feel that the serving staff is hovering; it's the Turkish tradition to have several dedicated waiters standing within arm's reach to ensure promptness of service. Raki is not for the faint of heart, but the perfect ending for such a meal.

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE PLACES THAT IS ALL HYPE. ARE THEY PAYING SOMEONE TO WRITE THEM UP EVERYWHERE????ALMOST ALL OF THE MEZZE'S ARE COLD. THEY BRING OUT LITTLE TINY PLATES OF COLD SALAD TYPES OF FOOD..(LIKE COLD SPINACH WITH YOGURT) IT'S NOT BAD BUT NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT. FOR GREAT TURKISH FOOD GO TO TURKISH KITCHEN. THE FOOD THERE IS AMAZING AND JUST AS CHEAP. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE BUZZ IS ABOUT FOR BEYOGLU. IT'S DECENT BUT HARDLY MEMORABLE.

At first I thought that the problems had to do with the fact that they were a new restaurant. However, they continue to be plagued with inefficient, terrible management.

My friends and I LOVE middle eastern food (espeically Turkish).. so I must say, we were quiet disappointed with the food after reading all the reviews. For a house that raves about parsley being the main ingredient, there were hardly any in the tabouleh.. we are sure one yogurt appetizer was made from sour cream and not yogurt(ugh) .. and the sardines literally tasted like it came from a can. Otherwise, it's definitely lively and the ambience is good. The staff is very nice as well. However, it's pretty bad when amateurs like us can tell that it is NOT authentic AT all...

If your in the neighborhood, this restaurant is a must try! It serves meze's (tapas) and only one main course which is the Doner - delish! The meze's are interesting and lots to choose from. The atmosphere is fun and the service is good.
Great for a quick meal.

As I am not a big fan of Turkish food, I was skeptical about going there. Once there, the lively atmosphere and the buzzing scene made me realized that at the minimum, I would have a fun night. The food did not disappoint either. The appetizers were average but the donner kebab was the best! Even better than the ones I've had in Istanbul! So remember to save your appetite for the kebab and ..... a Turkish coffee at the end of the meal!

My first Turkish food experience was not as I hoped. I got the Kebab Doner and barely finished a quarter of it when my date finally realized I wasn't enjoying it. It was too salty. The mashed eggplant was lost in the dish. She had the shrimp dish, which seemed be only shrimp simmering in a marinara sauce. She didn't like her meal either. I was also bothered by the waiter constantly hovering over my shoulder. I don't like being rushed to finish my meal. We were persistently asked if we were done or if we needed anything else. The only saving grace was that the atmosphere was intimate and I enjoyed being with my date.

I went to Beyoglu last night with my boyfriend and really do not understand the positive reviews. Two positive things: nice decor and cheap. Now for the rest: the waitress was very strange: the whole meal, she marched up and down the aisle inches away from our table (to make us uncomfortable?). At the end of the meal she seemed upset because I didn't want to take the leftovers with me. Of course, the reason I didn't want them is that the gyro platter consisted only of overly thick pieces of greasy meat. We were so uncomfortable, we left in under 30 min. Have never had such a quick dinner before!

Good food, nice decor but the owner has made sure my friends and I never visit again. It's a Turkish Tapas place with only 2 main courses and the waitress was angry at our group when we only ordered appetizers and drinks and no main courses. When we asked what the problem was, the owner made a rude comment about how we should have spent more money!

Beyoglu isn't your typical Turkish restaurant. It's a meze house, serving assortments of little dishes, rather than big entree platters of kebobs. And what meze it is. Items that are familiar throughout the Middle East and the…
