I had been a customer here for many years with many different pets. We always had Dr. Tony see our dogs. He is such a sweet and genuine man, and a great man. Dr. Tony has since retired and now his daughter Diane runs the practice. Oh boy. I have had many rude encounters with this woman but kept going because we love Dr. Tony. I always hear the other customers and even the staff complaining about Dr. Diane. Our Lab Rex has had ear infections on and off. Usually about two or three a year. Dr. Tony always treats them and they disappear. We had discussed that Rex could have some type of allergy, but being that labs are nicknamed "hoovers" and we had small children who would drop snacks, it would be better to just treat the infections as they come because they always responded well to the medications and were only a few times per year. So Dr. Tony is long gone enjoying his life away from his crazy daughter so we have no choice but to see her as the other doctor was booked. Max has had a few encounters with Dr. Diane and my usually lovable big teddy bear just has never liked her. He never snaps or growls but I can just tell he is uncomfortable. Dr. Diane tells us about her allergy testing and how we are basically bad people since we have never done it. I tell her what Dr. Tony's usual treatment is and she laughs and says her dad doesnt know anything. I tell her I will think about but I would like to speak with my husband first because he is a medical doctor. She got very upset and started screaming at me "WELL IS HE A VETERINARY DERMOTOLOGIST?" We continue with the appointment and Rex has gotten very upset at this crazy woman yelling at this mommy so he tries to back away from her when she goes to look into his ears. She now starts screaming at this poor maybe 90 lbs. teenager to hold him (Rex is about 125 lbs.). I go try to help the young girl hold him then Dr. Diane starts screaming at me that I am not a vet and I just need to get away. At the end of the appointment she asks me, verbatim "Why do you need to speak to your husband? Does he not allow you to make your own decisions? I just don't understand woman these days. Do you not have a brain" She then continued to talk about me to the staff right outside the door, and she was screaming and throwing thisng. She really works herself up and clearly has a mental issue. There are many other instances but this was the most recent. Rex has been going to another vet for a while and we are both very happy. Point is STAY AWAY DR. DIANE IS COMPLETLY CRAZY!

My dog Cookie had a chronic ear infection and two other vets said she would be doomed to suffer for the rest of her life. A friend of mine referred me to Dr Diane Stenzler and I am so glad I went. The Doctor determined that the infection was due to a food allergy and after proper treatment and a successful food trial, the infection was cured and Cookie is a happy dog again.

They took the time to explain to me what was wrong with cookie and how to treat her. The Doctor and staff was very compassionate to Cookie's suffering and took the time to figure out what the problem actually was.

Cookie and I are so grateful to this hospital for being able to find a cure where others couldn't!

cannot give a quote for standard neutering over the phone (???)
guess they don't realize that people are busy and want a
simple answer when inquiring. Time wasted, going elsewhere.

Business Response:

First of all, we do give quotes all the time. But we have had problems in the past doing this, because there is no simple answer to this question. Realistically, and medically, there are a lot of other questions that have to be answered first. When we give a "simple" answer, and don't address everything else that is involved, then the potential client gets very upset when they come to find out there are other charges, like blood work, an office visit, and we have to make sure there are no other underlying medical problems. We also have to make sure that the animal is actually legally fully vaccinated. Many animals are not actually vaccinated properly, while their owners think they are. We have gotten burned many times in the past because clients take the one sum they are told, and insist that it is the end price, when most of the time it is not. It is not really a simple answer, so give us a break. We actually have your best interests in mind!

I've been bringing my furry friends to Pearl River Animal Hospital for about twenty years now and can't say enough good things about this place. Dr. Stenzler has set such a wonderful example for his staff with his compassion and kindness for the animals and their owners. It can be difficult bringing an animal in for a checkup but the staff at PR Animal Hospital do everything they can to make the visit less traumatic for all involved. I would definitely reccommend this animal hospital to anyone looking for great care for their pets!
