Its a great place to have lunch or dinner outside. Went there for my lunch break with some friends and enjoyed the fun atmosphere. There was good music, good food and happy hour drinks. The food could have arrived faster, but in all it was a very entertaining experience. I will definitely come again when i have more than an hour break.

We had brunch at Los Pollitos II this Sunday, and I am now recovering from a rather unplesant bout of gastrointestinal unpleasan tness after having a breakfast style burrito. The dinners may be one thing, but at least from our experience, stay away from the brunch.

this is definitely the worst mexican restaurant in parkslope. my margarita tasted like it came from a margarita mix and dilluted with water. i had to put plenty of salt and black pepper on my food. the service was so slow that i had to ask for salt and pepper twice, margarita-twice, napkins-twice and also had to remind them that we ordered guacamole. when the guacamole was finally served, it had no taste. it was supposed to come with chips, but the chips never came. when they gave us the appetizers we ordered, they took our appetizer plates. we were like "huh?". i will never go back to this restaurant again.

The food itself is a cut above other Mexican takeout in Park Slope (you'll find better in Sunset Park). Excellent rotisserie chickens, sopes, quesadillas, enchiladas and tortilla soup. Delivery service, however, is abominable; they have frequently messed up orders taken by phone, and I stopped ordering from them after they simply lost an order I had called in, didn't deliver it, and claimed when I called back that I must not have placed the order. (Why would I make up the story? Does anyone get a kick out of calling random restaurants and asking about phantom orders?) Enjoyed their food; can't rely on or reward their service.

What is the Mexican term for being taken advantage of? Los Pollitos II is a scam. For about ten years I have been going to Los Pollitos about once a month. It was close and used to be an endearing and cheap neighborhood place with no pretension. Now? Forget it. It has been getting progressively worse in recent years and I have been having quite a few miserable experiences ? mostly service related. But after my most recent visit, last night will be the last time.

Why is that? For a variety of reasons.

The constant nagging to order something you don?t want ?Waiter: Are you sure that you don?t want guacamole? Maybe I will bring it??

Arguing with you to order a larger serving of something you do not need or want. ?No, we said a small pitcher of margaritas. We really don?t want a large pitcher (for the third time).?

But this is the big reason: They charge a 20% gratuity (unannounced) added on a bill for PARTY OF TWO AFTER the TAXES. That is a roughly a 30% service charge on the original bill! They total the bill, add tax and then add twenty percent on top of that. How unethical. What are we, tourists in Times Square? We are a quiet couple from the neighborhood! So now we are tipping on the tax. So, we entered ?already included? on the tip line on the card receipt and signed of on the total. IT GETS WORSE! They then added another 20% to the credit card!! They DOUBLED the bill with service charges!! For two people! What would they do for a party?

What is with that? A 30% service charge! Years ago, one could go into Los Pollitos II and order a taco and they would treat you well. Now, if you are not ordering a huge amount of food, the treat you with a complete disregard. And if you do order substantially, they gouge you!

So some advice: BEWARE! CHECK THE BILL BEFORE PAYING AT Los Pollitos II!! DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD!!

Normally I don't mind these kinds of things but... We stopped by this place on a Sunday for drinks and food. We came in because a sign out front said "Happy Hour $4.75 Margaritas." We went in and asked if it was happy hour with $4.75 drinks, the waiter said yes of course. So we sat down and ordered drinks and an appetizer. The margaritas were good. The nachos were small but edible. We asked for chips and received a very small basket and about two ounces of salsa at a cost of $2.65 with no refills. We had planed on staying for dinner and ordering another round of drinks but luckily we decided to leave. We asked for the check and of course the drinks were not happy hour prices, $13 for two instead of $9.50. We asked the waiter to fix it and he took the check back. Another waiter came over and explained to us that they had taken the chips off and that they did not have happy hour and that the sign was merely to bring people into the restaurant. Normally I don't mind this type of thing and I will just pay the extra cost. However, we specifically asked before being seated about the drinks only to have them turn around and tell us that the sign was not correct and that it is out there only to bring in people. The waiter even went so far as to say "you know how it is, you understand right?" We could not believe that he was actually saying that it was obvious that the sign was a lie, we were dumb for relying on the sign and their statement, and that they were doing us a favor for giving us the terrible chips for free. We just paid the check and left so that we did not have to deal with them anymore. We will never go back.

Pros: Nice Location

Cons: Lying and Demeaning Waitstaff, Poor Food Euality

Because of varying tastes and experience with Mexican restaurants and food, reviews for Mexican places are notoriously diverse. Los Pollitos has decent food that leans toward "authentic." Assuming it's a good day at Los Pollitos and you're used to the "swamp muck" variety of Mexican food, which is the only type many Americans know, you'll probably really like it. If they are having a bad day and you're used to Bonita and the taco places in Sunset Park and Jackson Heights, you'll be disappointed. As I've implied, Los Pollitos has it's good and bad days, although the service is usually poor. I like the tacos, which are usually good and reasonably priced and I usually have them delivered (rarely a hitch with delivery) or pick up there, which can be a hassle because the staff is very poorly trained and shouldn't be in the customer service business. What's kept me from ordering lately is their health rating, which you can find online at nyc.gov.

Bottom line: Don't expect too much in either food or service.

I also read a few good reviews of this place and wanted to try it. It was a HUGE disappointment. The food is just not good. Not to mention, one of our glasses of water had a dead fly floating in it. The salsa really does taste like it came out of a can, and the tortilla chips were stale. We both ordered the chicken - it had absolutely no flavor to it. I try to have a positive outlook, but I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for this place. How disappointing. I will not be visiting again. Ever. Please go somewhere else...

Had read a few good reviews of this place and was really looking forward to eating here. What a disappointment. My margarita was weak and tasteless. The tortilla chips tasted like cardboard and the salsa like it came out of a can. The unspectacular appetizers were actually brought after the main courses were already on the table. The seafood dish I had contained exactly one shrimp. The rest was comprised of leathery monkfish and calamari that seemed like it was fried, then fried again, then heated in a microwave. The heavy sopping oil taste actually turned my stomach. How this place got its reputation is beyond me. Horrible.

Watery drinks, bad food, OK service. When I learned this was a chain, I laughed in disbelief. I've been twice, maybe I'm ordering the wrong things, but I cannot for the life of me understand how they manage to stay in business!

Now I know food! And Mexican Food is a favorite of mine, hence I've dined in many restaurants in the NYC area. And I Must say that this place is one of my favorites. The Food is great (or at least the super tacos are) and the guacamole and chips are awesome!
They serve one of the best tasting Caramel Flans that I've ever had.
Service is Good, Not Great...But Friendly.
Selection is Ok...And Decor is not aesthetically pleasing, but typical for a mexican spot.

When you first glance at Los Pollitos, you'd think it would be a greasy Mexican place full of tasteless food and gigantic magaritas - not the case. The food is incredibly fresh, they have a great tequila list, and the drinks are marvelous. Best of all, the food delicately flavored, fresh, and they make the guacamole right at your table. A suggestion: the inside of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, so either order take-out or sit outside at one of their lovely tables on the sidewalk. The chips and salsa are wonderful, and my fave dish is the Camarones Criollos. Best of all it's very affordable.

Just happened to stumble onto Los Pollitos II one night and will definitely make the trip from Williamsburg in the future just to eat here. They were very busy when my friends and I wandered by and we wondered whether we'd even get a table that night but we only had to wait five minutes. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We were brought extra salsa and chips at no charge while we waited for our food and drank our margaritas. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and it came quite quickly. These people know how to run a restaurant.

Also, there is a large selection for vegetarians and the portions of these dishes were not diminished by the lack of meat.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Go check it out!

I was there on Cinco de Mayo, the place was so crowded, but they were still able to accommodate everyone. Everyone seemed happy. The atmosphere was nice, the weather was beautiful so we sat outside. The food was delicious, I had the chicken breast in lime sauce, excellent choice, especially if you like garlic. The Margaritas were tasty, I perfer the ones on the rocks. I will definetely return to Los Pollittos II.

Growing up in the southwest, Mexican has always been my favorite cuisine. (Is it really a "cuisine"?) I favor greasy, spicy Tex-Mex, though, and could care less about sour cream and spinach tortillas. (If you like Cal-Mex burrito shops, good riddens to you.) If you like enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, chicken mole, etc., Los Pollitos is the jackpot at the end of the long rainbow that is the search for Mexican food in NY. Unfortunately though, Los Pollitos fails -- along with every Mexican place in NY -- to put together a solid combination of rice and beans (why is this?!?), but their main dishes are great. This is the best Mexican food I've encountered in Brooklyn, though I must emphasize the "encountered in Brooklyn" qualification. I'm still a long way from home, Toto.

Even though Los Pollitos doesn't have the "real" tacos al pastor, it has pretty good ones. The choriqueso is the best as well.
It is a good place to go and have fun if you like mexican food. The service is good as far as I know.
Pretty good mexican!

I am very happy they opened a place on Myrtle Ave! Being from Texas I have found it hard to find anything close to the food I have had down south. The guacamole is great and the drinks are fantastic. The waitstaff was very nice as well. It is definately worth the trip.

The first time we ate here my husband and I (plus kids) were not impressed. Then we tried a simple take out of chips and salsa and guacamole... who could mess that up? Los Pollitos did! They did not make the guacamole fresh; they scooped it out of a big bucket. When we asked for it fresh, they said we would get a smaller portion which was much smaller then the portion we had recieved the 1st time we visited. And they wouldn't sell us the salsa at the table... only pico de gallio. They did all this AFTER they ran our credit card and absolutely refused to comply with our request. The manager would not make it right for us. All we wanted was the same treatment as if we stayed to eat. Avoid this place.

Los Pollitos is by far the best Mexican in the Slope, and among the best in the city. The soft tacos are delicious: well balanced flavors, real Mexican cheese (no monterey jack here), and made with care. What's more, they're huge. Burritos are similarly great. I haven't tried the chicken but people I know who have always rave about it. The staff is gracious, it's relaxed, and the prices are more than reasonable. Love it!

Made the trip hoping to finally find some good Tex-Mex, but came away disappointed. I'll qualify my review by noting that I just returned from South Texas where I ate the real deal. In comparison, Pollitos was just "okay." For most people that have never eaten the authentic stuff, this should be fine. I had the chicken w/mole and would not recommend it. The beans were good though, I'll give them that.

Park Slopers tend to rave about Los Pollitos, and I'm not quite sure why...I like to support my neighborhood businesses, and the people that work at the restaurant have been nice, but the food just isn't that great. Maybe it's just the vegetarian dishes that are lacking; after all, the restaurant is named for its chicken! But I don't eat meat, and despite the wonderful smells wafting out from Los Pollitos whenever I pass by, I've been disappointed every time I decide to give it one more shot. The sopes are tasteless, the enchiladas are boring, and the portions are small. I can say they've got some good--if expensive--guacamole, though!

Pros: Good guacamole, Nice atmosphere, Attentive waitstaff

Cons: Overpriced, Average food, Small portions

.

Do not let the outside decor stop you from going in. Once you go on, the restaurant is a gem. The waitors are attentive, the food is soooo good-- must try the flan and pork (tender and juicy) and the regular nachos. The best mexican restaurant by far!!!! The prices are inexpensive, too. Sangria is only ok but still yummy.

the tacos are alright... but only alright, nothing special, the only real star that i've tasted was the chicken, which deservs mention for its cheapness. the encaladas are awful though, and one of the sauces (its a chocolate based sauced) tasted like either it had been burnt or sitting in the pot for the entire day.

Yum, the chicken is great here. Get a whole one for $8, a side of rice and beans, a side of plantains and a couple of salads and you got a dinner for 2 for about $15.00! The guac is fresh, yet lacking flavor, we like to add our fresh salsa into it. I'd like more choices of sauce for the chicken, but the tasty green sauce they serve with it is spicy and light. I did have to revise this review after I tasted more of the dishes here. The fajita we tried was tasteless and burned and the mole sauce was way too sweet. Stay with the roasted chickens and you'll be fine.

This is a good place to order from when you have guests at your house. Just get 2 of the rotesserie chickens and a few sides and you're set.

I keep going back to this restaurant. Everything is incredible - the food, the service, and especially the chicken. Once you've tasted the chicken, you'll find yourself craving it all the time.
If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably eat here several times a week. Unfortunately, I live in Manhatthan, but this restaurant is well worth the subway ride and walk.

Finally, awesome Mexican food at reasonable prices. Being from Texas, I'm used to getting authentic Mexican food that isn't overpriced. Well, Los Pollito's definately hit the spot! Everything we ordered was amazing---I can't wait to go back. The only thing that was missing was a margarita.

Try anything with chicken. The chickens turning in the window are so juicy and tender they fall right off the bone. The chicken mole is a perfect balance of heat and sweet. The side dishes like yuca and platanos are perfect and everything is soooo cheap.

Cheery, homey and brightly-colored, this little corner eatery offers Park Slope's finest--and most economical--Mexican food. Great lunch specials, a friendly staff, and homemade hot sauce keep the joint popping with (well-fed) street shoppers. A great stop after an afternoon of Fifth Avenue shopping.
