An honest place, where the food comes first! Fresh ingredients, cooked simply, pleasant staff, in a quaint atmosphere. If you're really hungry you should order more that you normally would by 1 taco or 1 side. The portions are on the smaller side, and nothing is to be considered "loaded" which is almost expected now a day in our super sized world. But again, you're money will be well spent here, and you will leave wishing you could re-create these simple dishes at home. In case for some reason you don't see the homemade salsa you've probably read about, check in the fridge in the dining area. Help yourself!

My first impression of this place was horrid. I never imagined coming in here and eating, but after a relative bought something from here I gave it a shot.

The food is kinda good and it's quick and cheap. The cons outweigh the pros, though. It's quite dirty inside and after looking at the workers there its gross. I'm sticking with my first impressions again. If you're thinking about coming here. don't. I think the original person who was running it stopped caring about the joint. This place isn't fitting and not even clean enough to be a visited place for eating.

Pros: Good prices, food is kinda good

Cons: dirty, ugly, not sure about coming back

Great Fajitas. Amazing Guacamole. The previous reviewer complains about it being dirty. Think of it as Authentic and honest and the Cheap part they are happy about would not exist if this were in a slick new high rent building. It's not fine dining, but it is Fine!

Good take out for cheap. If you want something meatier and fresher tasting than the fast-food taco stands, this is a good spot. However, there is nothing authentic about it. It is also very dirty, so its best to get take out and not think about it.

Genuine Fabulous Tex Mex Food.....But clean up the place please. It ruins my appetite to have to step up to a dirty grimy looking counter and watch my food prepared on old yellowed grimy looking tables. Even the staff looks a tad behind on personal hygiene. If you could clean it up ,paint ,update and take some pride in appearance this place would be my favorite fast food restaraunt in WNY. You could even raise the price and I would still come. Really take my advice ...get a small business loan if you have to...You could easily grow this restaraunt as you have a unique niche and no one else compares....

Pros: BEST of the best Tex Mex in the whole state of New York

Cons: You feel as though you are picking it out of a garbage can

I have absolutely no idea how this hole-in-the-wall has been getting good reviews on Citysearch. Lone Star is unquestionably the worst Tex-Mex place I have ever been to. EVER. The interior is long overdue for a good cleaning (calling all health inspectors) and the food simply atrocious - I shudder to think how old the "fresh" vegetables in my tacos were. Not to mention I waited TWENTY-FIVE minutes for three tacos. Yikes.

I must say for cheap eats this is the place! The pico& guac is awesome! I like to get chicken fajitas and chips, all very tasty. Fast and friendly service. I like the patio furniture, gives it a relaxing feel. Great place!! Its kinda hidden so be on the look out!

Lone Star is good for cheap, good food. The ingredients are definitely fresh and the service is super quick. Inside is a really laid back atmosphere, you almost want to kick your feet up and just chill. Like others have said the guacamole is delicious and the pico de gallo is good too. Recommended for food on the go and it's a whole lot healthier than BK or Mickey D's. Blink and you will miss it though, so make you sure you are paying attention.

Great food, 1990's prices. A unique buffalo hangout that's fun every time.

Doesn't have to apologize for not being in Texas. While traveling in the US we always manage to spend most of our eating dollars in Mexican restaurants. Since we have family in San Antonio, we're always happy to visit them because of the vast amount of authentic Mexican food available.

Finding the Lone Star Fajita Grill was truly a pleasant surprise, as we didn't expect good, authentic Tex-Mex food. The menu is limited, but what they do serve is excellent.

I was born in San Antonio and grew up in Dallas, Texas. When my husband and I moved here to Buffalo, New York I became very homesick. I missed my family, my friends, and most of all...the food! Plenty of pizza, subs, and wings here but no Mexican! He surprised me by bringing me to this warm, friendly, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You've GOT to try the fajita quesadillas, a steak fajita (add cheese and sour cream...cheap and well worth it), and don't forget to top it off with the fresh pico de gallo (that chopped onion, tomatoes, and green pepper mixture for you New Yorkers!). Always full stocked with the latest issue of Artvoice and the warm, friendly Western New York service adds to the restaurant's most outstanding asset - the food. Easily my favorite restaurant. Grab it to-go or sit and relax a while in the extremely laid-back environment.

Inexpensive, authentic fajita's... skirt/flank Steak is the best, but chicken is fabulous also. Freshly made nacho "chips" w/ salsa is tasty. I like everything there, and have tried it all.

I did not truly know what Tex Mex was until I lived in San Antonio where I discovered the excitement of a palate spiced with Jalapeno and Pico de gallo. Lone Star Fajita Grill was somehow mystically transported from San Antonio simply to prevent me from being as homesick for the best flavors Texas has to offer. On our last trip here we ordered their mexican burgers with a side of refried beans and jalapenos which we added to recreate a tasteful twin to the Judge Roy Bean Burger, that can be had on the riverwalk in San Antonio at The Republic of Texas. Oh so YUMMY! as is everything I have had here.

Pros: YUMMMMMMMMM, Authentic, Cheap!

Cons: They close at 9PM, no beer

After sampling what passes for Mexican cuisine here - Mighty Taco, Tijuana Taco, Cristan's and several forgettable independent places around the city, we finally found a nice place to pick up tacos, fajita meat & quesadillas. It's Lone Star!

The food is prepared very close to the way they do it in Texas - flavorful and w/ spice. Beans, cheese, guacamole, taco meat & fajita are all done right for once. And the decor of the place is just perfect - it reminds one of a traditional eatery in south Texas or Mexico! All in all, highly recommended...
