We were there last night (Saturday) and we such a great night. Danced a lot, had fun with the people there and the music was great!!! A little of everything!
But the best thing was that made it special was the staff. David the manager was great. And the bartender very nice and friendly. Def going back there. We left the place close to 5 am! We were looking for a great girls night out to dance our butt off and we had a blast!

I would have never thought that I would find myself writing a positive review for Saphires but I guess this is why one should never say never.....
I was kind of skeptical going into it because I never particularly liked Sapphires too much because I always thought their drinks were too expensive considering they're served in plastic cups and not only that but I don't particularly care for too much rap either and there were quite a few rap artist performing that night. But anyhoo, my girlfriend had taken me to the show because she said I just had to see this lady called Joya perform. Well, my girlfriend certainly wasn't lying about
this Joya chick, she was freakin AMAZING! Fo' Real! Talk about a power-house voice!!! She sounded as though Mary J Blige & Patti Labelle had an offspring!
Moving on.......
Now, I had been there to see her preform but what really shockingly surprised at was just how much I enjoyed everybody else! All the rap artist just had the entire place HYPED... BIG TIME! There wasn't one rap artist that I found to be obnoxiously loud or hard to understand. The raps that were performed where thought provoking, entertaining and not to sound too white or corny, but fun as well. I found myself laughing quite a few times and not wanting to step outside for a cigg cause I was afraid to miss something.

Lastly, the DJ freakin' ROCKED! He kept the entire show BUMPING smoothly. I had actually seen him DJ before and he never fails to impress.(and the fact he aint too hard on the eyes is a plus*wink!)
I can't say enough about just how much I enjoyed myself that night.... and I just wanted to spread the word cause if this unhip lil white girl could love it, I know everyone will.
There's a show the first Wednesday of every month. You oughtta check it out..... I'll meet ya there!

I went to the lounge for my birthday. I was given 2 table to accommodate for my guest. It filled up pretty quickly. The music was bumping, playing some great hits. and the Manager was awesome, he was everywhere making sure everyone was having a good time. I'll definitely go back there some other time just to chill and have more fun

The lounge is great for private parties, with tables in the back room. They play good music. The manager is extremely friendly and accomodating. Overall, a great place to be Friday or Saturday night!

MY GIRLS BD STARTED OUT CRAPPY THE BUS WE RENTED WAS LATE GETTING TO US AND GOT US TO THE CLUB LATE ' I WILL NEVER USE THAT COMPANY AGAIN ' .I HAD CALLED THE CLUB MANAGER DAVE AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON HE TOLD ME DON'T WORRY HE WOULD STILL TAKE CARE OF US AND DID HE EVER. WHEN WE GOT TO THE CLUB AND GOT OFF THAT BUS DAVE MADE SURE WE DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE AND SHOWED US TO OUR TABLES HIMSELF WHICH WE ALL THOUGHT WAS COOL AND THEN INTRODUCED ME TO THE DJ AND THE BARTENDERS TO MAKE SURE WHAT EVER WE NEED OR WANTED WE GOT. Had such a great time! Really cool space, nice dancefloor, bartender was great. Fun atmosphere to bring friends to party. Really helpful staff. We made reservations and we had no problems. Great DJ. My friends and I had such a blast and will definitely be coming back.

In May I gave sapphire a try but was dissappoint due to an empty place. On Friday I decided to give it a try again and let me tell you i wasn't dissapointed. First off BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE DJ he play Reggae, Hip Hop, Latin and House. The Mix crowd made it more enyoyable.........Drink were great and affordable..........I will definitly come again.............

WE BOOKED MY SISTER'S SUPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY AT SAPPHIRE, WE TALKED TO THE MANAGER AND HE TOLD US NOT TO WORRY THAT HE WOULD HANDLE EVERYTHING FOR US, BUT SINCE I HAD NEVER BEEN THERE I WAS. I MUST SAY HE CAME THROUGH WITH FLYING COLORS. ALL MY FRIENDS HAD A BLAST, THE DRINKS KEPT FLOWING AND THE MUSIC WAS SANSATIONAL HE PLAYED EVERY KIND OF MUSIC YOU CAN THINK OFF AND ALSO PLAYED SOME STUFF THAT WE ASKED FOR YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT. I CAME TO THIS CLUB FOR A FRIENDS BACHLORETTE PARTY AND THE PLACE WAS AWESOME. THE CLUB WAS FULL OF GOODLOOKING PEOPLE, I HAD A WONDERFULL TIME, THE DJ TOOK REQUEST'S FROM US AND PLAYED HIS BUTT OFF. HE WAS THE BEST. THE BARTENDERS WERE MAKEING SOME OF THE STIFFES DRINK I HAVE HAD IN A CLUB IN A LONG TIME A -PLUS FOR THEM. The night i want to sapphire , the place was packed with women every were, the dj kept the house jumping with a mix of all kinds of music which made everyone dance the night away. the bartenders were cool to ,i have been there now a coulpe of times and they knew who i was. thats cool they remeber there customers. the manager and the bouncer out side were a trip they had every outside that was cooling there heel from daning cracking up with there jokes. this place is a must , go and i bet you will have a great time and tell them. I threw a bachelorette party for a friend at Sapphire Lounge and it turned out to be an awesome venue, great music, and everything was reasonably priced - unlike most NYC lounges. I spoke to David (the manager, i belive) prior to our night out and he was more than accomodating - he set up everything for us that night and made sure that we were ok and had a fantastic time. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a fun night out - great music and great people without spending an arm and a leg in today's economy!

My friends and i met there for a drink before going somewhere els but we had so much fun dancing and enjoying ourselves that we chose to stay there the whole night and don't go to any other venue . I don't remember when was the last time that i had this much fun ,The doormen were very friendly and greeted us in with a smile .The cute and friendly bartender served us some tasty drinks with a smile and the drink prices were actually surprisingly cheap for a manhattan bar. The Dj was great and he played all types of dance music , hip hop , regea , funk , soul , disco , pop , latin , house . the crowed was diverse and friendly not pertentious and without any attitude , simply just there to enjoy themselves and there were a lots of good looking people there . I loved this place and i would highly recommend it to everyone

I've been to Sappire Lounge for a friend's private graduation party, and we had a TOTAL BLAST! We were treated like VIPs, and the booze flowed freely ;^)
I hadn't heard of the DJ, but he ROCKED THE HOUSE. I'm sure we're gonna see him around again (and again; he was THAT dope).

I decided to go one night with a girlfriend b/c we just wanted to cut loose and DANCE... it was totally HOT. Plenty of S -e- x- y people Shakin' Booty, and the BEST TIME working up a sweat and tossing down cold drinks (which, of course, a couple hottie guys helped us out with!)

This is one of the BEST, UN-PRETENTIOUS Dance clubs in town. The drinks are cold, the staff chill, and the patrons, HOT.

(I also heard that some nights they have a professional musician's open jam session, with players who've played with Clapton, Santana, etc. I'm planning on checking that out some time soon.)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I threw my B-Day party there. Really enjoyed it! The staff was great, Worked with us the whole time. You can get discounts when ordering more than 1 bottle.
The DJ was good too! Had some good reggae in the beginning, then some good hip hop, then some mainstream hits, then everything else.
I recommend this place!

I just had my birthday party at Sapphire Lounge this Sat. night. My friends know me for putting together a good party and finding great hole in the wall spots with good music. They weren't disappointed. The place is small, but those are the spots that I like. The music was great. We got there around 10:30 and the DJ started out with old school soul/funk type music and slowly progressed as the night went on. He played great hiphop, dancehall, merengue, salsa. I have a really thing about DJ's at lounges that mix rock and hiphop just for the sake of it but have no idea how to transition from one style to the next. If I want rock I want to go to one place and if I want to dance I'll go to another. This DJ played all the right music for me and my guests.

The staff was so accommodating and friendly before and during the party - it made the experience even better. DJ Ramsey played great music all night long. The bouncer asked me a few times if there was any way he could help - he told us to get comfortable even at tables that were reserved. He said to just relax. Even my friends came up to me telling me how pleasant he was! He kept making sure we were ok and that the party was going well. There were no hassles with my guestlist, the bartenders (especially the blonde one- I never got her name) were really nice, and my entire party and I had a great time. The drinks weren't weak or overly expensive, the music was great, and we all really had no complaints.

Thank you, Sapphire Lounge. I'll definitely be back.

Bangin atomosphere but the drinks here are really high! The best lookin girls in the city, but alot of Asian girls. I happen to LOVE asian girls, so it was FINE BY ME!!!!! You also HAVE to check any bag that you take and it's like 10 bucks.. So dont take anything with you, and you also csnt wear a hat,,, Other than that pretty great

So we went to Sapphire Saturday night not knowing quite what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to get the red carpet treatment from the manager at the door. He promised a good time and Sapphire delivered. Inside is hot and sweaty and begs for some good a/c but the DJ spinning some a hot dance mix makes up for it. You can't go wrong with the drinks--reasonably priced and strong. Nice bartenders, good service and overall a great time. Many thanks to Steven. We'll be back.

Wow ! Me and our friends . Were looking for a great place to Dance and let loose for the night . Look everywhere! practically ,.. Sapphire Lounge ' I am from Holland ' and my friends are from Germany , france and U.S. and we all felt the same ' WE HAD A GREAT TIME !!!!! So I reserved a the room in the back of the bar for a brithday party. I even gave a guest list for my friends to get in free until a certain time. But when I got there, there were other people in my room. I was told that I was supposed to work it out with the manager to have that space. But, I already confirmed it through email, so what was the point of confirming it again??????

So my friend talked to the manager and booted the pther people out. So when I mentioned the guest list, no one knew what I was talking about, and thankfully being smart, I brought my own copy and gave it to them. The bartender took it and kept it by her....shouldn't the bouncer have it????

Anyway, at first the music sucked, then it picked up a bit. The DJ could've been better though. I just think it was unorganized and the people looked like they didn't want to be there.

So I gave this review 2 stars because the DJ was awsome and the music was good. We went on a Sat night and they had the bongos and rainsticks playing with the house music. It was good dancing...though after 11 it got so packed you couldn't move.

The bad:
The bartenders don't know how to make change, so be sure to count your money - we were getting short changed and then over changed
The bartenders don't know how to ring on a credit card - so check your check! We got over charged for drinks we never ordered.
The waitress was a B*** and clueless...we ordered six shots - she brought us back six tall boys and said we HAD to pay for them.
The barback kept banging on the women's bathroom door telling people they had to hurry cause there was line...wth?? What else are we doing in the bathroom...
DJ announced coat check was mandatory and if he saw your jacket or purse he would take it...so check your jacket for $2! Well, the girl at the coat check said it was $3....who knows if she was pocketing the extra $
The drinks are WAY Watered down...I watched her add water from the fountain to several drinks! So if you're gonna be safe, drink bottled beer.

Nice that there wasn't a cover charge till after 11 and it was only $5

I recently had a birthday party at Sapphire Lounge and they were very accommodating. First of all, I had a group of about 20-25 people and they allowed us to reserve the back room (4 tables altogether) if we agreed to spend a certain amount at the bar. The amount wasn't exorbitant and there was no cover until after midnight ($5).
The music was a mix of hip-hop and pop and the dancefloor was spacious enough for everyone. No one was bumping into eachother or being suffocated.
Overall, I had a lot of fun at this unpretentious lower-east side lounge. The service was good and the managers I spoke to were polite and honest.

I went to Sapphire Lounge for the first time on Saturday night for a friend's birthday. She invited a bunch of her college friends so the place was filled with women -- a plus for any bar. Sapphire boasts its dancing license and nearly everyone there was on the dance floor, which although small proved spacious enough that everyone could get in on the fun. I am not much of a dancer but I relaxed on the banquette, which stretched about 15 feet along the length of the wall opposite the bar. The one thing I didn't like at all about Sapphire were the drink prices... although $6 for an Amstel Light isn't out of the ordinary for NYC, I was hoping that a bar catering to the SoHo/East Village crowd might drop that price down to $5 or even $4... alas, that was not the case. RedBull & vodkas went for $9 -- sidenote: I asked for Absolut vodka in mine, and my friend simply asked for vodka... same price for each of us, but we didn't see if well vodka was used in my friend's drink. Sapphire Lounge is a small place and I like it that way. It's perfect for a small group looking to go out and dance a little bit, especially if you're not into the 'scene' at places like Libation and the like. There was no line here and I doubt there ever is. Some friends who met me there ended up paying the $5 cover to get in, but the cover was waived for my group when we arrived either because we showed up before midnight or possibly because we mentioned the birthday girl's name at the door. I wouldn't come here if I had to pay $5 just to get in, but as a free-entry bar I would head back sometime. Not at the top of my list, though.

I went to the Evolve party that happen the First sunday of the Month and had such a great time! The music was wonderful and the dj's really did thier thing..The people were wonderful and I made a few new friends.

I went here for New Years Eve. And It was an amazing night, the music was great! The scene was diverse and full of flavor. Real people down to Earth, If you dont like the cliche scenes with the cliche people and your looking for a great place to party I highly recommend it. I party in the Lower East Side and I never went here before but I will def be back.!

I've alot about this place and I finally went on a Saturday. There was only a $5 dollar cover charge and the place was packed. I not much of a dancer but this place you can't help it. The service of bartenders was great, not to mention about the hottest battender I've ever seen. I would definitely go back.

I threw my 30th birthday party a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night, and it worked out really well. It depends on what you are looking for. I wanted a place with good music that also wouldn't be so crowded with other people that my party would get lost in the mix. Although the private room in the back is really tiny (but perfect to set out food, which we did), we literally had the whole place to ourselves until about 11. Even after that, the crowd was mostly from my party, which is what I wanted. The owner and manager are nice enough. It may not be the most glamorous place, but if you want to have a fun party with good music and not spend an arm and a leg, I recommend it.

The music varies from night to night, but you probably will find yourself dancing to some 80s at some point in the night. The drinks aren't that expensive, and the service is good. You do not have to wait a long time, probably because the place never really gets jam packed, but still a good crowd. However, everyone's in their 30s. They're kinda old. But if you're in your 30s, this would be happenin! You can dance, or sit on the sides, because chances are, there will be space... or sit at the bar.

I went here on a Friday night with a large group for my birthday and everyone had an awesome time. It wasn't packed so there was enough space for everyone to dance and not feel cramped in. The dj played a good mix of old-school hip hop with some latin thrown in. The crowd was mixed, very hip yet unpretentious ambiance. All in all, a great place!

This place was rockin' with some great house music on Monday night. The place didn't get crowded until about 12:30, so come late. The crowd is mixed and not at all pretentious. If you come dressed in anything more than stuff you can sweat in, then you'll be over dressed. So if you want a place with great house music and space to dance to it and you can stand the fact that the smoking ban is not enforced here, then come here on Monday nights!

I've been going to Sapphire Lounge for over a year now, mostly on Wednesdays where a crew called Play throws great parties. The vibe is dope, the space is intimate, and people get down! The music on their night, every other week I think, is dope underground house music and they have amazing guest DJs all the time. DEFINITELY THE HOT SPOT FOR HOUSE MUSIC!

This place is really cool. Not too trendy and skews older than the average place. Everyone's there to dance and socialize and the mood is always good. My fave night is Thursday with Jazzy but it's the type of place that's always jumping.
