I went to Sybil's a few years ago and I wasn't too happy with the service. for one I found the whole set up to be really awkward. You paid one place and got a ticket and then waited at another location to get your food. while this may work in some fast food establishments this is not what you would expect from a west Indian restaurant. nevertheless the food was good so I was happy with that. I just think this set up delays service quite a bit.

For those not in the know, Sybil's is a mainstay in the heart of the Guyanese & West Indian-Caribbean community. Anyone that comes to Brooklyn knows of or has heard of the world famous Sybil's restaurant. First of all, the combination of restaurant and bakery--just simply works. They also do catering for large parties on the upper level. The staff is exceptionally friendly & knowledgeable. What you don't know or recognize? Ask & they'll be happy to tell you & give you a sample. Oh? The food? My stomach is rumbling just thinking about it. Fresh baked daily: pastries, currant rolls, pine tarts, salara (red cake), sugar cake (rock cake for you Jamaicans), black cake (liquor drenched fruit cake--no nuts thanks), sponge cake, mittai (fried strips of pastry dough coated with brown sugar syrup for a satisfying crunch), Chinese Cake (Bean pod cake), Patties (Guyanese style or Jamaican meat, vegetable & seafood), Black Pudding (not the desert), Cheese Straws, Chester Cake, Carrot Cake, Ice Cream, Pone, etc.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is served DAILY (even on weekends). Vegetable, Meat or Seafood Chow Mein (Lo Mein), Curries (Goat, Chicken, Shrimp, Beef, Vegetable), Roti or Dhal Pourie, Stewed Beef, Oxtail, Bok Choy, Pepper Pot, Fried Rice, Steamed & Stewed Seafood (Shrimp, Fish, Red Snapper etc, ), Mac & Cheese, Ribs, Roast Pork, Baked & Fried Chicken, Cook-Up Rice (Peas & Rice), Soups, etc. There's more but I can't remember. They have ALOT of food, cooked fresh daily & no food stays in place. They always refresh the food constantly & often sell out of items (short wait to replenish-5-10min)

Assorted drinks (soda pop, beers straight from the Caribbean & Europe)---Did I mention it's dine in (in their decent sized dining area (seats about 10-20) or you can have your food to go. It's also kid friendly. Run, Don't walk to Sybils.

PROS: Delicious Wide Variety of Food, Great Prices, Dine In or Take Out
CONS: Sometimes gets crowded (especially on the weekends) in bakery section
