This store, for me, is an excellent compromise between a gargantuan carry-everything supermarket and the neighborhood convenience store. Every week they have some specials at very competitive prices, and a very nice selection of store brand merchandise (fresh ground coffee, spices, meats, to name just a few) at great prices. I do find I have to check their produce before buying, but that's nothing unusual in any market today. Also, on weekdays, they put out a fairly nice hot-cold self-serve buffet for lunch, which is great if you work in the area. Put it this way, on some Saturdays, I'll drive an extra ten miles to pick up some items that they do better than most markets.

Best Yet took over the Waldbaums building a few years ago, and while at first the change seemed extraordinary - most notably the the huge fresh produce displays at the entrance of the store - I find it now lacks a lot. Big name brands that you would expect to find at any supermarket and actually used to be carried at Best Yet, such as Pepperidge Farm, have been taken off the shelves and not only have they not returned after months, but when I was there last week, those shelves were actually bare with no products at all. Other problems include the location of certain items. I was in the hygiene aisle looking for a Gilette Venus razor and there was not one there so thinking they must've sold out or hadn't restocked new ones yet, I let it be and went to the checkout and lo and behold what's there but a small display of the razors I was looking for. Why wouldn't you put ANY in the aisle with the other razors, a place where most people would think to look for them? Lastly, their once extraordinary produce and deli section is now more like an eyesore - I haven't gotten a good piece of fruit from there in quite a long time. Things are left rotting or damaged with bugs flying around, not to mention the prices are nothing spectacular to begin with. A few times I went to buy prepackaged meat and cheese from the deli section and the expiration date had either passed, I could actually see mold on the food, or I bought something that looked decent but when I got home and opened the package it had to be thrown out because it had gone rancid.

PROS: decent parking lot, convienent if you live in the area
CONS: expired items, no organization, lack of brands
