I was a little miffed when the waitress told me she wouldn't add my leftover salsa to my doggy bag (I went at lunch and got the full sized entree, which I could only finish half of)... she said since it's "free" I'm not entitled to take it

This place is at the outer limits of proximity for me to go during work lunch hour, but boy am I glad I tried them. Dark and funky interior, awesome staff (sometimes a bit harried, but always efficient and never rude), and THE FOOD. I

Bottom Line.....

I am in the food business for a long time.
I used to go to Baby Bo's at least one time a week for over ten years.
I have to agree I was there a couple of weeks ago and it has changed and is not up to the level that it was...
I agree 100% with another reviewer that the bartender- it was a woman was nasty and had an attitude that sucked. The pico was not as good as always and the burrito was actually smaller than I remember it to be.
I could live with the food situation because I am in the business but the attitude--no way--if I owned the place there would be write ups or firings and in this troubled economy there are alot of people who are honest and willing to do a job for less...What a shame to this very nice little restaurant... BTY the margaritas are made with the cheapest Tequilla--Montazuma or that other no name brand...I would rather serve a quality product and charge more--no excuse for lack of quality....

Pros: Location

Cons: Poor Service

Last night my friends and I went in and were treated so rudely by the staff (the bartender in particular) that we left before even trying the food!!! When the staff acts as if you're not wanted, and you live around the corner, there are definitely other places to go.

They definitely need a staff overhaul.

A few tips Baby Bo's... first, dining tables aren't baby changing tables. I know it was early in the afternoon on Saturday and the restaurant was empty when I walked in to see if I could make reservations later in the evening, and they were probably owner's family or something, but come on -- use some common sense. Second, even if you "don't take reservations," there are certainly other ways to be somewhat accomodating to bring business to your establishment. Especially when you can guarantee a large tab. And there's no reason to be curt with me when all I'm trying to do is bring you business. I certainly wasn't rude to you. Also, I walked in the door to make reservations, which means I'm probably from the neighborhood and someone you would want as a repeat customer. If you don't want my business you did a good job of making sure you never get it. Remember, restaurants don't deserve my business... you need to earn it. Sometimes restaurants in Manhattan forget that, and from some of the other comments on here it seems that Baby Bo's sense of entitlement has gotten the best of them. Good service begets good recommendations. So, I suggest everyone go to Mexico Lindo on 26th and 2nd for examples of wonderful service, and enjoy the great food and atmosphere while you're there (that's where I eventually made reservations). They've apparently been around for 30 years... so they must be doing something right (take notes Baby Bo's).

I dined at Baby Bo's Last week to celebrate a birthday. It was my first time there but my friend's 5th. One of the waitresses and manager both were rude. After 1 hour, they kept asking for our table even though we had kept ordering food and drinks. They offered to move us to the bar for a free drink (no premium alcohol he said). We did not ask and certainly did not care not even for the free drink. It was the manner in which we were approached. Totally no class at all. Sure this is not the Four Seasons but patrons of any establishment should be respected.
Our surf and turf appetizers arrived cold both times and the guacamole was so-so. The Pomegranate Margarita also was o.k. My friend said that the quality of food and drinks since her last visit 2 months ago has gone south and that maybe management had changed.
The bathroom needs an overhaul (really).

We will not go back.

Pros: Small, cozy, great 2nd. ave. location. Easily accessible to cabs (on 2nd. Avenue)

Cons: Can get overcrowded, staff attitude needs an overhaul, ffod needs improvement

Baby Bo's is a small fun place to go with a small group of friends. The walls are decorated with intriguing art and lights. I got a burrito with barbecued duck which was delicious, but a bit pricey for a burrito. They had a very accommodating and helpful staff as they were able to substitute items on their menu.

Margaritas were amazing... Try the enchiladas, They come with original rice and beans and were amazingly good. It reminds me of home-cooked restaraunts in the midwest. Decor is very unique. They also carry Don Julio, a very good tequila that can be shot without being chilled... I will surely be back...

Had dinner at Baby Bo's last night. The decor is great - intimate place that makes you feel like you're in Tijuana. Happy Hour has 1/2 price margaritas til 7 which is nice. The guacamole was lacking any taste, but the salsa had a nice kick to it. The food was average - we ordered quite the array of items, and nothing was fantastic nor was it terrible. The bill came to about $100 for 4 of us (which included 2 beers and a margarita). Probably won't go back.

The fact that Baby Bo's is a place that is nearby to where I work is a plus and the food that they serve is very good and the staff are accommodating. I like the quesdillas and the salads are excellent. Nice size portions for the healthy eater.

Unlike Rio Grande which is really better for Margaritas Baby Bo's is really good for food and drinks. The place is small but done in an authentic Mexican setting with bright colors and decorations. Service is attentive without being pushy. Prices are reasonable. With margaritas, skip the pitcher and go by the glass, it'll be cheaper for you that way. Food I like: The free salsa has an extra kick in it that makes it really good. Guac is good as well. The fish tacos (soft) and mini tacos are both really, really good. Friends have enjoyed the fajitas (although ti comes out really sizzling) and chimichangas. They don't take reservations but, I've never really had a problem with it.

The place is cozy and the servers are all sweet girls and if you are nice to them, they're nice to you. Just like every day life! Management staff is awesome too. Servers work their butts off from what it looks like. I've seen some real aholes in there that think they can treat servers like shi*. Have some tact people!!
Bartenders and Servers were fantastic. Drinks they poured were strong enough yet tasteful to what it should be like. I recommend the Strawberry Margarita. The burritos were big enough. Overall an awesome experience and I'd go back. Waitress's and Bartenders were definitely hott. I just wish I had asked for their #s!!!

Pros: Staff of women servers are extremely diligent and sweet. Management was great too. Food awesome

Cons: If it's busy, there's always a wait

.

The food was decent, but that was quickly diminished by the hostile demeanor of the waitstaff and the fact that it took the bartender 15 minutes to make one drink. Maybe they were just having an off-night, but the patrons seemed a little rough around the edges for Murray Hill.

i really like this place- always have. the atmosphere is really cool, the drinks are great, food is good too. i had my first bad experience w/ Baby Bo's today- I ordered a burrito w/ no cheese or creme and asked to substitue guacamole. They refused so I ordered it on the side. My order arrived and the guac was $3 for a tiny cup holding about 2 spoonfuls. I called the manager to complain and he started yelling at me! meanie!

This used to be my favorite place to go for Mexican. However menu has just changed and food is no where near as good as it used to be.

Hope they change it back or will need to change a new favorite spot.

I've been looking for a decent Mexican place out in New York for awhile now and this place is probably one of the better options that New York has to offer (not one of those Tex Mex places). The carne asada burrito was pretty tasty and the prices were pretty reasonable. I just wish it was closer to where I lived.

This is my favorite mexican restaurant and I eat there probably about once week. I have tried several items on the menu and I always get the chicken enchiladas with the fiery chipotle sauce. YUMMY!! I also recommend you ask the server to bring out some of the chipotle sauce for dipping w/your chips as it is delicious.

Great value, friendly service, and great food.

At work there a lot of choices for take out. Baby Bos is the way to go for Mexican. We were hungry and they provided the food to fill us up. The only con was that it took more than an hour for our order to arrive. I almost thought the del. guy took a detour! But other than that . . . the food is awesome.

My boyfriend and I stopped in there one evening for something to eat. Yes, it is VERY SMALL, so go there early. That is the only negative thing I can say about it. The Margarita's are amazing. We ended up ordering 2 pitchers of margarita to help was down our dinner. If you want a hang out with friends and have good meal and a great drinks too, this the place to go.

Absolutely delicious burritos, great value. One thing that threw me off was the tiny bowl of salsa when you sit down, but the second we finished it, they brought back a huge one! I totally get it... they don't want people wasting it so they see if you're a salsa eater first... great strategy! Thanks, can't wait to go back!

The burritos are so great, I crave them while I am sitting at my desk and dreaming about lunch. The harvest moon burrito is filled with veggies and is so big you can take it home with you to enjoy another day! The service can be slow and forgetful during lunch hours, but the food is worth the wait. They have a great lunch special which includes a cup of soup. Definitely your money's worth for a filling lunch!

Awesome burritos! Although I am not a huge fan of the burrito, I have tasted the best burrito at Baby Bo's, and it doesn't end here..They serve the best frozen margaritas!
