couln't be happier with the service quality, quick turnaround and especially price. they fixed my DSLR camera last year and i never had any issues with it ever since. two month ago my nephew spilled juice on my MAcbook pro, so i took it to two different places near my home to get an estimate. one place said it is not repairable, and the other gave rediculously high price for replacing logic board. then i remembered about hi-tech and these guys fixed it in 3 days for less then $300.
Years ago, I had gone to Hi Tech Electronics repair store with a vintageTeac tape deck that I adored and refused to give up just because the second belt broke and I couldn't replace it myself without the proper tools. They let me wait while they worked on it and it took about an hour because the job was really a pain in the neck. While I wiated I saw something I'd been wanting, a hi-8 cassette rewinder. I asked to see it working and the owner opened the box and put in his own cassette. The rewinder didn't shut off at the end of the cassette. The owner quickly unplugged it, told me not to buy it, it was a bad product and took it off the shelf. The Teac repair was perfect.
Years later I needed to have my Sony camcorder repaired. I'd forgotten about Hi Teck Electronics till I googled for a Sony repair store. I brought in the camcorder and explained that I'd taken the camcorder apart to get out a jammed cassette and now it wouldn't even power up. They gave me an estimate of about $100. When I came back he told me that it wasn't just a cassette jam problem. By taking it apart I'd broken a mechinism and touched two parts and caused a short. BUT HE STILL CHARGED ME $100 AS ESTIMATED.
It's easy to get ripped off on repairs. I had to take the Cable Doctor to small claims court for a bad repair.
But I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hi Teck Electronics repair store. You will never find a more honest person or better quality work.
PROS: great repair, good price, terrific staff
CONS: none
Hi Tech Electronics has the best of the best when it comes to electronics! Whether you need a new camera or if you need a new computer, they will surely have it. Their wide selection and great salesmen cannot be beat! Definitely look for service deals on their Motorola cell phones. I would recommend it!
Hi Tech Electronics is among the endless Electronics and hardware stores located on Canal Street, in the opposite direction from Chinatown and the Manhattan Bridge. This block is full of many tourists and those electronics fanatics looking for a cheap bargain. Be prepared to wait till an employee is free to help due to the high volume of people. Also, haggling is a must when you purchase. These stores are known for haggling to get a good bargain.
This place is the best electronics repair shop I've ever been to. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and explain to you exactly whats wrong with your electronics. Prices are very fair, and work is high quality and fast.
Pros: Friendly, intelligent, reasonable
Friendly service, reasonable prices, good communication. Highly recommended.
The only draw back is if you drive there, you'll find it hard to find parking. So if you park illegally (double park, fire hydrant, etc...) keep an eye on your vehicle as the traffic cops are always lurking around.
What can I say other than that these guys are great! The screen on my laptop cracked (an unfortunate event involving my parrot and his beak). Needless to say, I was in a panic, as all my documents and photographs were stored on this laptop and I had no backup. Although I ordered the replacement LCD from Dell directly (which was probably a mistake, as the folks at Hi-Tech could have gotten it for me for much less than what I paid), I brought the laptop along with the replacement screen to Hi-Tech and they installed it for me in about an hour. The best part is the price. What they charged me was about a third of what I might have paid had I gone to some other repair store. Also, they are very convenient for those who live on the Lower East Side. Otherwise, they are very close to the F train. Thank you Hi-Tech for a job well done!
Pros: Quick and Friendly Service, Convenient Location, Reasonable Prices
Cons: None that I can think of.
If you have a difficult Hardware Tech problem, go see these guys! They fixed a DVD player that ONLY worked in conjunction with a TV in less than one day! In addition, it cost about 25% of what the manufacturer was going to charge me. Cameras, TVs, DVD Players, etc. if they're broke, bring them here first! And note, the F train gets you there, not the Lex line. Really, get all your broken gadgets and see if they are worth fixing, you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
I cannot recommend hi-tech strongly enough. I had a broken DLP projector which I needed serviced, and they were quick and efficient in diagnosing the problem, they were even open on a holiday for me to bring the unit in! Once they had diagnosed the problem, I was given a very fair quote for repairs, and my service throughout the entire ordeal was extremely nice. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly (ask for Frank), and I will be going back there the next time anything breaks. Highly recommended!
Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: Out of the way
