THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG!! I had received an email offering 50% off any service you have not had before. I called to schedule the "stress away package". While I was on the phone (which took at least 30 minutes) I asked if this package was included in the offer. I was told yes. Before I hung up I again stressed I was using the 50% off offer and again was assured that it would be honored. After receiving an acceptable hydrotherapy session and decent massage I had a very nice pedicure. The trouble began when I tried to pay. I was told the 50% off did not apply to the massage because I had had one in the past. The desk staff was abrupt to the point of rudeness. I asked to speak to the manager but they said they were the managers. I asked to speak to Kimberly but (of course) she would not be in until the next day. There was no apology, sympathy, nothing but rudeness and pay up, we can't do anything. They have lost me as a customer, as well as my sister (this was a birthday present to her) and a friend who agreed the place is snobbish and not very friendly.

I have been to this establishment several times. Every time I would go I would get a different hair stylist, massage therapist, esthetician. Despite paying for the highest level of service, I would receive anywhere from good service to absolutely unacceptable service. I could never count on getting the same therapist/ stylist nor the same type of treatment. I decided to seek services elsewhere.

Recently went into Kimberly's on two separate occasions - wasnt taken into my appt. for over a half hour. 2nd occasion - during a manicure had my index finger skin severly clipped by the technician and noticed alot of my fingernails were unevely squared off. So much for the "regal" atmosphere inside, doesnt match the services.

Got an average manicure for an above average price. THe salon has lots of fancy trappings, but the product is what you take away with you and it was only so-so. My cuticles were not pushed back enough and they were polished along with my nails. It cost $27 for a french manicure and I left a $5 tip. Really not worth the $$$. I wouldn't go back.

Do yourself a favor and go to the Mall for your services.... you'll be much happier, less stressed and you'll spend half the money but receive better quality work. I am embarrassed for the business owner!

I always look for reviews before I visit or give gift certificates! I am convinced that the majority of reveiwers writing here are right! I wanted to give a dear friend who is going through some rough times a break. I wanted to treat her to a day at Kimberleys but I am searching for another beauty spa.
The truth seems that if you have a good experience there it's purely by accident or more on the rare side.
My family and friends deserve the best and I intend to seek the very best for this holiday season.
Kimberly will run herself out of business. By the way I asked people about Kimberly's and they said they would NOT Suggest it.

The staff at the place has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They make mistakes and accuse the customer. "The customer is always wrong" is their philosophy. I will never go back. I tell everyone I know not to go there or purchase their gift certificates. The owner should be ashamed of herself and this business.

I can only imagine that any of the good reviews were written by the owner.

NYS passed a law a few years ago that gift certificates never expire.

I remember that the reception staff were not very friendly or helpful. I think of massages like sex; it's never all bad, but when it is fantastic it puts the rest to shame. I never had a fantastic massage at Kimberley's. On the other hand, I have had a delightful peticure, which has made other peticures pale in compairison.

A friend's mom was going through chemo. Her Gift certificate was going to expire and they would not extend her dates. How heartless. None of the three daughters and extended friends will go anymore. Maybe Kim needs to re-evaluate her policies...

I??ve been to Kimberley a few times and every time I noticed cold and rude receptionist at the front desk. They are an eye sore for this business. Conversation with any of them consist of their abrupt and snobby remarks and you (the client) just shyly awaiting your turn to respond. Massage was not worth my time. Even though I asked for deep tissue massage, it felt like patting more than anything else. And to the most of my disappointment; I lost my gift certificate , however had a credit card receipt to prove. That was not enough. Kimberley WILL NOT honor lost certificates, claiming there is no records if it was used or transferred. Even thou at the time of sale receptionist writes every letter and number in the book. So be aware, be very aware, this place is not your relaxation destination?..

Soooo just about a year after receiving a gift certificate to Kimberly's, I finally used it. I was actually nervous to go to the spa because of all the terrible reviews that people had written, but after going there I figured I should set the story straight. Simply put, Kimberly's was amazing! I did not come across one rude or stuck up employee. They greeted me as soon as i walked in and made me feel right at home. Eve is one of the nicest women I have ever met. She had done a seaweed body wrap for me, and was so sincere and had a great way about her. I then had a facial with Lindsay(i believe) and a pedicure with Audrey. The entire staff pampered me, and made me feel like i was the only one there. I will definitely be returning to Kimberly's and suggest that you avoid all of the negative reviews out there, take a chance and find out for yourself.... trust me, it's totally worth it!!

I cannot rate Kimberlt's even for one star!!!!
I agree with most people about services at this spa: the staff is OUTRAGEOUSLY rude. On my wedding day I was treated with disrespect and rudeness not only by employees but the snotty owner herself.
I had an appointment with a stylist. By asking her to make me a particular hair-do I had chosen, she answered at least 4 times that my hair is fine or she doen't have special pins as they used to, e.t.c. Also, I found it weird that she complained about my hair because they "were fine and not enough volume" (Somehow, I get compliments on them often). So at the end I had to choose the simplest hair-do (for her conveniene or maybe "abilities"?).
I have spent in the chair not even an hour and at the end it came out not the way I wanted at the beginning but nice, anyway.
At the checkout I said that I have received their coupon but misplaced it somewhere. The receptionist told me that I MUST have alway present the coupon in order to receive the discount. It sounded rediculous to me and, perhaps, my expression showed my feelings so she asked owner's permission.
So, she gave her OK.
In the waiting room I made a call to my husband (about who and when is going to pick-up my mother-in-law). Then, all of a sudden, the owner herself stormed into the "living room" and started to scold me in front of other people about my phone conversation.
I apologized and quickly retreated from the area but she was following me all the way to the door and repeating about the phone policies. She didn't want to ask politely but dared to raise her voice at me. While leaving I said "thank you" and "good bye" (for what?) but dead silence fall instead.

The whole situation made my mother-in-law very upset and we both felt that Kimberly's staff were very rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional in handling their customers.
CLIENTS, BE AWARE!!!

The employees are terrific - the First Impression Staff could certainly use Customer Service training. I agree with other reviewers - the perception is they are doing a favor by speaking to you, rarely look you in the eye when speaking and write down the incorrect appointments!!!!
Please, Kimberley - your spa is lovely - fix this problem!

This place might as well have a drive up window! I feel sorry for the actual staff performing the services...hurrying around like they might lose their jobs if they don't get the hobbling old lady dressed and back downstairs so they can scurry back to prep their room for their next "client"!! And as for the front desk staff...they do seem semi entitled, however I have the feeling they are being strictly watched and told what to say and feel bad about saying what they are told to like a script they were made to rehearse. They do seem like they need those black little microphones on their heads. In my experience the place is not relaxing, their products didn't seem up to date, and I found it to be more of a stressful experience than what I ever look for in a spa!! Sad thing was I had a gift certificate from my husband, he thought since that place was so big, it had to be a good place...so although I heard some bad things, I knew the staff is experienced and tried to look at positives...not so much. My husband said next time he will take me on a cruise from NYC b/c that was almost the cost for the day treatment....

Pros: Nice but stressed professionals

Cons: Shuffled in and outta there!

I??ve been to Kimberley??s on numerous occasions (I??d estimate 30 or so services), and also have had over a hundred services at other locations around the capital district. Had I not been exposed to numerous other locations where the customer service is outstanding, I probably wouldn??t complain so vocally about Kimberley??s A Day Spa, but I have and it became clear that Kimberley??s may have forgotten that most people will remember the customer service long after the benefits of a good massage have passed.

The women they have working the phones often make the potential customer feel unimportant, or like they are interrupting the receptionist. Whether you are booking a full day of services or a half hour pedi, the customer should be treated with the same respect.

Also, they are notorious for not honoring their gift certificates very well. I find it insulting that they are so diligent about writing down every gift certificate they hand out, numbering them and such, but if the recipient of the gift certificate should happen to lose a gift certificate then Kimberley??s chooses not to refer to their records for proof of purchase. This is an outrage and is the reason why I refuse to give gift certificates to this location. Too many dear friends have lost their gift certificates, or misplaced them only to re-find them after their grace period has ended. I??ve also given gift certificates and had friends refer to the poor customer service they received and that??s upsetting, I don??t want to encourage my dear friends to go and get insulted or made to feel inferior. That??s unacceptable in my book.

Over all, the massages are often of good quality (but you must keep track of your own time as I??ve been shorted), the manicures and pedicures often come with a nice side of rash conversation that includes vulgarity and the latest gossip, the baths are great, the ambiance is nice?.but this spa must remember that there are plenty of other massage locations in this area that are not only cheaper, but much more courteous.

I had a facial the other night and have never been treated so well. Sophie was incredibly informative and took the time to not only explain why she was using products and what they would do for me, but why my skin was acting the way it was and what other steps I could take to correct the damage. It was the best $70 I ever spent! Thanks to Kimberley's for having such a knowledgeable staff and such great products!

The people who work at the front desk treat you as if they are doing you a favor by being there ... they are not friendly at all. I walked in the door and they look at you as if you are wasting their time and want you to hurry out of their way and go into the living room. "Are you checking in?" -- No im here to stare at you, what do they think ? The tall skinny girl who looks like she hasnt eaten in weeks and got stuck in a tanning bed is a great way to promote a healthy all natural look! The hair department is ridiculous. You pay all this money and sometimes im lucky if my stylist is only running 20 minutes late. Ive gone to this girl 2 times and both times I had to wait over 15 minutes in the waiting room and then another 15 minutes in the salon after some cute little girl brought me in and offered me coffee like that was going to smooth over the fact that my stylist was over 30 minutes late! Not worth the money. The place is a joke.

This happened a while back. I stumbled on to these reviews it reminded me of how I was treated.
I ask to purchase a gift certificate. The staff put the certificate in an envelope and I never looked at it. I presented it to the recipient only then did I realize that Kimberley??s made it out for $50 more than I purchased. I later called Kimberley??s to explain that their staff made a $50.00 error and expected them to honor the gift certificate. It was their mistake. They said they would call me back after they spoke to the owner. I never got called back, I had to call them again at this point I was treated horrible, the staff told me, the owner said I was stealing from them if I did not pay the extra $50.00 and they wouldn't honor the gift certificate when the recipient came in. I could not believe they accuse me of stealing. I was the one who called them to tell them they made a mistake, I could have not called and they would have never known. The way I see it Kimberley??s stole my $50.00! We have not been back. I have told everyone who mentions spas not go to Kimberley??s. The staff treated me with disrespect and rudeness. You do not blame your customers for your staff??s mistakes or tell your customers they are stealing from you because of your staff's incompetence to make out a gift certificate correctly. Over a $50.00 mistake on their part, Kimberley??s lost thousands of dollars worth of business from my family and friends. Has this happened to anyone else? I felt like I was scammed/forced into spending $50.00 more than I wanted too.

My skin breaks out, I have tried everything even Proactive and nothing has worked. My mom took me to Kimberleys for my birthday. It was awesome; we both had the Heaven on Earth package and we felt like queens for the day! I was given advice by Monique for my skin, I purchased Keyano cleanser and other stuff and my skin has improved so much! My mom and I plan to go back soon. Thank you Monique!

I just had the best pedicure in my entire life! Naomi did my hot stone pedicure and it was amazing! I totally loved having coffee and cookies complimentary. Naomi treated me like I was the most important person in the world. I already scheduled another pedicure appointment with her for April. In April I am going to try the french manicure too! I am so excited.

I have been a long time client of Kimberley's (over 10 years!) and I have had services in every department including the ultimate treat of a full Day of Beauty! Each time I have been treated with courtesy and respect. There are so many thoughtful touches - the warm muffins and fresh coffee when you arrive, the cozy robes to wear in between spa services, a delicious lunch (for the Day of Beauty) and a staff that genuinely wants you to enjoy yourself!

Want a fabulous facial - try Johnna or Francesca - so knowledgeable and conscientious. You will look fabulous when they're done with you!

Looking for a great chat while having your manicure or pedicure? Naomi, Nadia or Nancy will have you laughing and relaxed while you are pampered.

I've watched at the holidays as men come in looking for suggestions for their wife or girlfriend and heard a very patient staff explain services and try to match the perfect service for the recipient.

Having been a client for so long, I can't help but be a little like a proud mama to see how Kimberley's has grown. But you should see for yourself - it's absolutely beautiful!

I was in a terrible car accident a few years ago. I find that if I get a massage about once a month I feel great. I started getting massage at Kimberly's seven months ago and I feel like a new woman. They have a large staff so you are usually able to schedule a massage easily and with different therapists. This way you can try different therapist with different massage techniques. I always look forward to my massage appointment :)

I was given a gift certificate to Kimberley's Day Spa for my birthday by my husband. I booked a butter cream float and was amazed by the level of personal attention that my therapist Sara offered. The treatment was to die for, a warm butter was applied to my whole body and then Sara hit a button and my body was totally weightless. I have never felt so relaxed in my life. I can't wait to go back.

I was disappointed on my first (and last) visit. On arrival, the staff seemed arrogant and cold although I think they were trying for an upscale feel. I had a one hour Swedish massage. The masseuse was pleasant, room atmosphere was relaxing. However, neck and back were uncomfortably sore and stiff for days after. Amusingly (now) I was offered no means of removing the excessive oil--no towel, nothing--and was escorted right to the desk for payment! I literally slithered out to my car and home!

PROS: Perhaps services I did not use were better
CONS: for a massage, tell her to lighten up and bring a towel

My hairstylist is at Kimberley's so I have been there many times. Besides having my hair cut, I have also had pedicures, manicures, and facials.
Every service I've had has been a wonderful experience and I truly leave there feeling wonderful. I would have given 5 stars but I just feel as though the front desk needs some work. I have waited ten minutes at time to check-out and I find this very annoying. Not only to check-out but when I call to make an appointment I've been placed on hold for several minutes. I think when businesses grow to become so popular and busy they tend to lose track of the important things. Let's hope Kimberley's is different.
The building itself is a work of art and is absolutely beautiful.

PROS: Services are unforgettable
CONS: Long telephone hold time and wait time to check -out
