"DO NOT RENT"

I have lived all over Manhattan from Union Square, to Gramercy Park, to Murray Hill, to Inwood; and I have dealt with landlords and maintenance companies off all sorts. BUT Living Space LLC. takes the cake for the WORST maintenance company to do business with.

The live in "super" or "landlady" has the worst people skills and takes care of tenant issues on her own time.
The maintenance company tells you one thing when you moving into a unit regarding setting up air conditioners, painting, fixing the door entrance buzzer, fixing the clogged shower drains....AND here is the "punch-line" when its time to move out and you think you are getting your security deposit back....YOU will receive an itemized BILL of all these outrageous charges that they state you asked for all these services.

For example: Paint restoration $800, Maintenance Fee $100, AC moving fee $50....NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH LIVING SPACE AGAIN......PRICELESS!!! I was looking an apartment with no hassles and I ended being extorted by shameless company. RENTERS STAY CLEAR!!!

After moving to the city from Atlanta, I have had nothing but a terrible experience with my landlady. I live in a decent, but not overwhelmingly nice building in the UES. The landlady lives upstairs, yet refuses to answer your phone call at 8AM (not an outlandish time) when the power has gone out in your apartment only. This happened on multiple occasions when my roommate and I were getting ready for work (one hairdryer on will do the trick). The power box is in the basement and she is the only one with access to it. Correct me if I am wrong, but this is her job. We have never received a returned call until that afternoon.

Concerning your rent checks - She apparently NEVER receives them even when you send in advance by US Mail. Either the USPS needs to totally revamp their system (unlikely) or she needs to track her incoming mail better. Furthermore, she will also send late notices and attempt to charge you the 10% late fee claiming that rent was never submitted - AFTER she has cashed your check. This happened on 2 different occasions and was only resolved when I presented her the cancelled check with her stamp on the back. If you DO rent from her, get anything she says in writing. After stating that she would not be charging me a late fee for a check that I needed to re-issue, she called the following day telling me that I would be responsible for the fee. She DID NOT tell me that it needed to be turned in the next morning, but stated that this was ?our understanding.? ? Right. TOTALLY UNORGANIZED and UNRELIABLE as a company.

I cannot wait to leave my apartment on June 30 and will not recommend this company to anyone. I have plenty of friends with pleasant renting experiences here in the city and know that I can find better. Unfortunately my first one had to be with her.
