Went today for my "Ladies Journey" which my husband bought for me as a gift. I go to the botanical day spa regulary and am quite shocked to see a couple of bad reviews as I have had NOTHING but the best experience ALWAYS...They make you feel like royalty from the moment you walk through their doors and the staff is exceptionally friendly...my package was absoutely wonderful and find the pricing to be very fair,as I have been to other facilitys and nothing even compares.Carol gives the BEST massages in the county and is very friendly. She did a fantastic job on me.
I read some of these comments and feel compelled to write the truth so as far as aesthetics are concerned
it was very clean,However, I am not paying for the pretty building and the amenities that go along with it.I am paying for a service and that is what I care about...So when you go to the real fancy places like other writers state they are paying the price for that building not the quality...Highly recommend this day spa. As I will be returning like I usually do...

Wow! Carol gave me "THE" BEST massage of my life! I have had many, many massages in many different locations but now need to go only one place. The Botanical! The spa is just right! not to big - not to small! Clean and neat with staff who are friendly and seem to anticipate my every need! I really enjoyed relaxing in the steam before my massage.

I have gone to many of the spas in the local area and I feel like this place went above the normal for clients. The staff went above the norm to make sure I got treated like I was the only one that mattered. They make you feel like you are in the most caring place. I felt like everyone went out of there way to make sure all my needs were met. First I had a steam shower, that was private, then I was greeted by a very friendly lady for my facial. After my wonderful facial I was then taken into a room for my massage, where the young lady ask me in detail about what my needs where to make my massage great. I forgot to mention how these wonderful services where started, with my feet soaking in a warm bowel of milky white water!!!! I have never had one of those before. The whole experience was great. I can't wait till i get my next gift certificate, this is where i wanna go.

PROS: the staff, nice caring people
CONS: looks like theres still construction going on?

First of all I have never been to a spa where I was treated as if I were a celebrity. From the second I walked in the door, I was treated like gold, and the young woman who did my massage was amazing. The girls at the front desk were amazing as well, but when I went into the back, disaster had struck. The carpet in the massage room was old and dirty. And the paint on the walls looked as if it were never finished and it was the worst paint job I had ever seen. In my opinion if you think your going to get any good service,I suggest you make your spa more sufficient and worth the money we spend to come there. We give you enough money to have wonderful services, maybe you should fix it up!! INCLUDING the SALON!!

PROS: awesome, kind and delightful workers
CONS: dirty spa

After a long day at work, I have always had a wonderful, relaxing massage at The Botanical. The staff is accommodating and they always have a smile on their face. I feel relaxed as soon as I walk in the door. I had tried other spas and will now only go to The Botanical. I enjoy the foot bath to start my massage and the hot towels on my feet toward the end of the massage. I have also had a full body scrub and that is just great and my skin feels so smooth when I leave. I always feel special when I go to The Botanical Day Spa. I can not wait until my next visit. THANK YOU THE BOTANICAL DAY SPA

PROS: Smiling, happy people
CONS: Nothing .... everything was great

If you are looking for a world class day spa/salon, check out "The Botanical" in Middletown, NY - they are absolutely the most wonderful spa around...If you are looking for a facial, you've got to visit Lisa, she has the most amazing hands. If you are looking for a massage, try Christen, you will feel like you are in an out-of-body experience. If you want a manicure, pedicure, or new hairstyle - see Lisa, Lindsey or Jenny, they are great..Everyone is sooooo amazingly friendly, the steam shower room alone with relax you, and if you have the chance, have some Aveda tea while you wait.I guarantee you won't regret a visit to this day spa; one visit will turn into many..........

Maybe it's the only way a place like this starts to take customers seriously. I thought maybe it was just me but I'm detecting a theme with these reviews. My husband bought me a large package "day at the spa" for xmas. I was really excited and starting trying to make an appointment. I wanted a weekend because...well because I work! and this was supposed to be a full day! I called and the hostile receptionist said she had to call me back. Never did. Called again and was told that my appt. would have to weeks and weeks ahead. I even tried to change some of the services but was continually told that I couldn't be fit in because they only have one hairstylist or they only have one manicurist or only one person for facials, massgae ect. How can you sell packages for services you don't have the staffing to fulfill?? I think that borders on criminal. I was told I couldn't split things up and still get the same amount of services done because everything was discounted in the package. Basically there was no way for me to get the day at the spa. I finally made arranged to have facial and massage and pedicure done on one day a month later but it was cancelled the day before. I gave up. I asked for a refund and my xmas gift was useless. Oh and of course there was a hassle about the refund too.

PROS:
CONS: scheduling and rudeness, selling services they can't fulfill

First we had major scheduling problems. Followed by our appointment being canceled at the last minute (morning of our two scheduled side by side stone massages) We rescheduled, showed up only to be told (rudely) that we were there on the wrong day which we were not. No attempt to accomodate us at all. Weeks went by again before they could fit us in (funny how quickly they had taken our money for gift certificates originally..very accomodating then.) We finally had our massages...not side by side as scheduled (this was the point of the whole mother/daughter experience). One massage was full length and decent, the other however was 17 minutes short of what we were charged for, an awful massage, by a girl who was "having a bad day" and told me so.....not my problem especially for the price, she even had the nerve to suggest that I reschedule! It seemed odd to be asked upon arrival what amount we wanted to tip. We tipped 20% as usual but by the end of our 'experience' realized why they ask for payment and tip upon 'greeting'. Don't you usually tip after your services are rendered so you can tip based upon treatment. One of the girls children was being babysat at the front desk and proceeded to scream and run around during the entire length of this awful experience. We ended up going back to use the remainder of our gift certificates on overpriced products just so that we would not have to ever endure the stuffy, rude, disorganized, ripoff again. Even our discussion with the owner was useless, she stood behind their rudeness, their lack of organization and lack of professionalism, she even tried to discount the other negative reviews left on this site. 1 star given only because you have to pick at least 1. I recommend that you spend the day and your money elsewhere....anywhere else...at trip to the dentist for a root canal would be more relaxing. I can't even go into all the details here as I would run out of room...these are just the highlights!!!

PROS: Leaving
CONS: Everything from a to z. Nothing redeeming about this place.

Booking an appointment was the first challenge as every time I suggested was unavailable. When I arrived at the spa, I was shocked to find it in a dull and rather rundown strip mall, sandwiched between a laundromat and a bar (!!). Not exactly what I pictured with the term "day spa". Inside, it got worse. A cluttered and unattractive waiting room, jammed-full of product. A "massage chair" to sit in with broken controls. Everything looked outdated and the front desk reminded me of a cheesy motel with notes and post-its and clippings taped everywhere. I was greeted by a somewhat nasty woman who seemed irritated that I was distracting her from the laundry: also being folded right there at the front desk (how tacky). Then a pleasant young girl showed me to my steam shower/locker room. There were Aveda products to use, but the containers were mostly empty. The steam showers themselves were dingy. Again, when was the last time this place saw an update? More tacky decor (I think there was a TEDDY BEAR in the room!), everything looks cheap, the carpet is disgusting, and the massage table was rocking on legs with towels shoved under them in an attempt to achieve balance!! I couldn't believe this was an $80/hr. service and was vowing to never come back again when my massage started. And this is the only selling point of this place: the massage was fantastic. My therapist was skilled, friendly, polite, professional, quick with a smile, and was obviously making a point to put me at ease. She was strong and soothing at all the right parts. I totally forgot where I was! It was amazing. So now...I guess I have to say that the place was satisfactory. Given there are so few good massage options in Middletown, I'll have to say that I will return to the Botanical. I'll just be sure to request Vanessa!

PROS: Vanessa the massage therapist
CONS: Location, decor, attitude of receptionist, cleanliness, everything else.

Who on earth runs a business this way? If two women make an appointment for a wonderful relaxing getaway, then they expect relaxation. What they don't expect is a fight that they are booked and they never made an appointment. What happened to the customer comes first? Why on earth would two grown professional women have to show up without appointments. Why was there no room made for those women that day? Poor customer service.
