I've been to Faces and Names a couple of times with a friend who's a regular and I must say that we always had a great time. The drinks aren't weak. The bar maids are attentive and very friendly. There are plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game. Being that I love and appreciate art, I can't enough of the caricatures of the famous people hanging on all the walls. It's perfect for Happy Hours because it has extra room in the back. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a fun place to go to grab a couple of drinks after work.

Pros: No weak drinks here, great ambience, lots of room

Cons: N/A

Very comfortable atmosphere. One of the most attractive looking places I've ever seen, along with the many caricatures of celebrities painted by artist Dan Springer which hang on the many walls throughout the place. (thus, the name "Faces & Names").

Bartenders, Waitresses and Hostesses are very likable, witty and attentive (and gorgeous) :).
Very fair prices. Generally cheaper than any other place in midtown Manhattan.

Highly recommended!

Pros: Best bar food in Manhattan. Beautiful lounge in the back.

This was a meeting point for a group of us before heading out to dinner on a Friday night. We met up around 6ish for drinks and the crowd was just right. It was kind of hectic in the front bar but we made our way to the back lounge. What a gem! Even though all the sections were reserved for large groups, our waitress was kind enough to let us know a smaller group was going to be heading out soon so we could snag their section! We stayed longer than anticipated but we couldn't help ourselves with those delicious grey goose pear martinis! We weren't impressed with our restaurant of choice so after dinner we came back and stayed until around 3. Since we got the munchies late in the night we tried the mini burgers and chicken quesadilla, ridiculously good! I am definitely venturing back during the week for happy hour!

We stopped in for lunch during the week, and what a great surprise. Not too crowded, prompt service and the food exceeded our expectations AND was reasonably priced! I know this is a popular after work spot, but don't pass it by if you want a really excellent lunch. The club chicken sandwich was excellent, the best I've had for lunch.

wont impress your date, but location is great!

stumbling distance from the Hilton....warm & friendly. Close enough to RAYs to grab a slice at 1:30am, and head back to the bar.

This is a popular sports bar type hangout for guys and gals after work and during and after games. They offer lots of decent nibbles right at the bar, such as fajitas, cheese sticks and buffalo wings. Many in the crowd think of this as their "New York Cheers" as you are remembered when you return here and the bartenders are always friendly and smiling.

It's dark, especially in the back. I suggest they print their menus in braille. It would help. We had to steal an extra candle from another table to have enough light to order. It's loud. The music is loud, and the sports fans gathered around the wall TVs bellow at fumbles or punts or whatever it is that guys with thick necks bellow at. That said, the place is really good. There are all kinds of nooks and crannies to hide in. Though it's crowded, it's not crushed. The buffalo wings have enough kick to them to send most food-wimp New Yorkers to the water (or beer) glass. For me, they were perfect. The waitstaff is friendly, and efficient, checking back to make sure your table is cleared, and your refill order taken. Linda, the manager, even came over and sat down with us for a chat. There's a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place, and
despite the bellows, you don't get the overwhelming stench of testosterone you get in other "sports bars" (see PS 450 above). We'll be back! --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NY drinkers

Almost 15 members of Meetup[dot]com's Cinephiles group and I gathered together on Thursday, August 14th at 7:45 PM.for drinks and snacks at this bar/restaurant/lounge. It has, historically, been one of our favorite destinations after viewing a film at the nearby Ziegfeld Theatre. The attractive, poised and professional hostess greeted me politely and with a smile. Although my reservation was well-documented, the space that had been promised to my group was not available to us. As a result, I had to work under pressure with the hostess to find an alternative. She apologized for this situation and strove to resolve it, but also failed to fully take ownership of it. She blamed it on other members of the venue?s staff and my group?s decision to visit on a busy Thursday night. Ultimately, we were seated in a somewhat cramped space in the back corner of the lounge area. Our waitress was competent, but impersonal. This was regrettable, because drinks at this venue were not inexpensive. Given its convenient location and my group's past experiences, we'll return to Faces and Names once more. I expect its service to improve, and hope to award it a higher rating.

Cons: Reserved space not available; hostess prone to excuses; impersonal waitress; expensive drinks.

Attended one of those after work deals here. My friend goes here a lot though. Drinks were decent enough but pricey for what you get. Nice athmosphere at the after work time. I will try it out again soon.

This place is WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!! $5 drafts all the time, so no need to worry about hitting this place at "happy hour." Bartender, "Lisa" is especially friendly and made our visit even greater! She took the extra time to converse about local dining (not just the bar) and made dinner recommendations for us. We chose this place because it was less than a block from our hotel, but found that we couldn't have had better service if we had gone 20 blocks.

I have been here a few times for both lunch and after work and I recommend it. I've tried a few things on the menu and all have been great. The service is great and the prices are reasonable. The best part is the lounge area in the back, it is a great place to sit with your friends and have a few drinks. There is music but it is not blaring to the point where you cannot carry on a conversation.

I had the best time after work during happy hour with a group of friends at this awesome midtown lounge & Bar. We ordered martinis, wine, beer, mixed drinks and some bar food and it was all great.

The atmosphere was good ... awesome art work, good music, lots of energy. Certain drinks left something to be desired ... DO NOT order a Bloody Mary (it tastes like poo ... with horseradish for spice), simple mixed drinks can arrive somewhat strong (to the point that it's face scrunchingly painful to get down), and basic martini's surprisingly do NOT come with olives (apparently you must request separately). Otherwise an enjoyable establishment ... a place to drink and be merry!

I had an after work party there once, we reserved the whole back area, which was great, very intimate. A bit too dark though. Service was attentive. Drinks were pretty good. Seemed like an after work crowd, a get-a-way from the other touristy places in the area. There wasn't anything spectacular about it, but would recommend!

Have visited often during the last two years. We live in New Jersey and when we want to travel into the city to watch a New York Sporting event this is the place we end up. Have been in several times for Yankee-Red Sox games and watched the US open (golf) last year pulling for Ernie Els along with the bartender. The waitstaff and particularly the bartenders are always first rate. The food is solid and the drinks fairly priiced. It can get crowded in the evenings but that is the price you pay. The backroom with the fireplace is noce and cozy place to spend a cold evening.

We went here to watch the Yankee-Boston game the other night because I knew they had a big screen. What a game...The waitress brought us by free shots every time the yanks hit a home run, and they hit a few that game. We all had a great time eating and drinking in the front, and after the game, I moved to the lounge in the back and grabbed a sofa and had a nightcap with my girl. Overall an amazing night. The food was good, and I loved not having to go to another bar to change up our night after the game.

Pros: Inexpensive, Two bars in one!

.

My team's gotten together here a few times and they serve all the standard drinks. They have some great cocktails. We've tried all the appetizers and they're good and basic. The service is average to below average, but I think it's because the place can get crowded. Overall its a decent enough hang out with a mixed after work crowd.

I like this place very much. It's like a loungy space with a divey atmosphere (yeah, it's a compliment). Yes, it can get crowded, but it's not one of those places that fills up so early you're sunk if you don't rush right over there after work. I've gotten space in the back as late as eight on a Friday night - people tend to congregate in the bar area. The drinks and bar food are good and priced appropriate to the venue. Nice middle-of-the-road place that should appeal to all.

I took a few co-workers here after work one night last week, and we had a wonderful time. We sat in the back lounge and relaxed and had a couple great cocktails at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and talked us up. The lounge was pretty busy, but the table by the fireplace opened up and we had a bite to eat. The food was simple, yet good and at 1:30am who can really complain. Definetely recommend to my friends. It's a place I go back to since they are always open late(i think they always close at 4am)

The quasi-pleasant atmosphere was a facade for cheap drinks and poor service.

Faces and Names is a great place to go to have a casual drink with friends, or go crazy at one of their themed parties. Their food is G-R-E-A-T for a bar, and their drinks are very reasonably priced. The Staff is friendly, and very helpful. ITs got the TV's for Sports, a very big plus!!!!

This is the perfect place to go on a first day, the fire place in the back makes it romantice but the music makes it confatable. If you don't like crowed places never go there on a Friday or Saturday night. ;o)
