I just got my first brazilian wax (actually my first wax ever) here and it was probably as pleasant as a brazilian wax can be. I had Roselie, who was very friendly and sweet and quick (thank God). It was not completely pain-free but the mild sting went away after about an hour. Definitely going here for my next wax.

i have faithfully visited maria at maria bonita salon for over four years.
i go for full body waxes every month.
maria is by far the most professional and expert esthetician i have ever used.
she is neither squeamish or assuming, i actually have fallen asleep during my waxing.
obviously, not during a brazilian bikini- but the discomfort is quickly replaced with gorgeous soft skin.
as my mother would say, "beauty is pain."
gratefully with maria, it is minimal, quiet and comfortable too.

I have been going to Maria Bonita Salon for a year now and thanks to everyone who wrote great reviews that made me try this place out. I had moved to the Upper East Side and needed a place that knew what they were doing when it came to a brazilian wax. This is by far the best...and I have been getting brazilian waxes for over 10 years. Maria is the only person I ask for each time and she is the best. She is quick and tries to make it as painless as a Brazilian wax can be. I recommend this place to anyone and rave to my friends back home on how this is the number one spot.

Waxing is painful, but it brings such a pleasant feeling afterwards--the feeling of being clean, lighter and more beautiful! All thanks to Mariazinha, my lovely friend that has worked so hard for so many years in the salon business--can we say waxing business?--just to perfect her expertise in making all of us girls look prettier and sexier after a waxing session! I love it. I travel about 50 miles once a month just to see Mariazinha at this pretty salon on Prince street. What a location also! Even if I don't have time to do anything else during my trip, I am happy after 100 miles just for a waxing! But if you do have time after, you'll find yourself in the best location in the city. Get yourself a cup of coffee after that 15 minutes of waxing and go for a walk...and enjoy downtown! Mariazinha is exclusive, and I am always recommending her to friends. She is a hard worker, summer and winter. Whether she is feeling good or not, she is always there for you...not just as an excellent professional, but as a friend. I can't wait for the next visit! Wax in the city, girls!

Maria one of the best! She is a perfectionist at what she does. She makes you comfortable, despite the awkward position. I have done the Brazilian wax in many different places, including in Brazil, yet no one has been as good as Maria.

I've been going to this place for a while now, for haircuts, with Roger, he's fantastic and always fabulous, as he likes to say, hilarious and very energetic guy, excellent work. I decided to give it a try for the wax, and did it with Maria, she did an amazing job and didn't hurt, at least not the way I was expecting, very professional and on time, all of them. I also decided to go for Elvira and try the massage, and it feels like heaven, she's just great, great, it does feels like heaven. All good. Definitely worth it.

This is the best place to get a Brazilian wax. I have been to a lot of other places and this is the best. I have seen 2 people here and my favorite is Regina, but they were both good. She is so friendly and nice, and makes the whole experience so comfortable. She walks you through everything and lets you know when it may hurt a bit and when it won't as much. She does such a thorough job - i'm always extremely happy with my results!

I've always shaved and have never done waxing before, I dicided to give it a try and, it was the best thing I did, I walked in without an appointment,and they accommodated me with LIlly, she was very pleasant and the pain was not as bad as I thought.I'll definitely go back for my brazillian bikini wax.

I've gone to many places and tried their waxing. Nothing compares to Maria's job!! It's excellent: not painful, fast, detailed and carefully done.

I've been to all the girls for waxing, and they all do a great job, except fo the fact that there is two waxer, Reginna an Lily , that smells pure cigarett, and really bothered me, specially when they do your eyebrows. So i preffer to do it with Maria, she is a lovely lady and very efficiet.

I agree with all the comments about the great waxing. I tried the mani/pedi with three different techs. Most recent the WORST!!!!! So bad i can't even go into it and the TECH yelled at me.

I love this place!

Carlos is such a sweetheart and he does the BEST highlights! I've been back to him several times now and my friends always ask me where I get them done. I have dirty blonde hair and I just get it highlighted a little lighter. Love it!

Also, they serve you Caiparinas as you wait. REAL ONES!

Highly reccomended.

Last week, I had a different experience. For the first time, I went for Brazilian bikini waxing. I was anxious during the day as some friends had warned me this would be painful. I went to the Maria Bonita Salon and was assigned to Lilly. I cannot really describe the dynamics or technique behind the magic. In 15 minutes, I was done, had no hair, felt clean and light and much to my surprise, it was not painful! I have a hunch this may have to do with Lilly who is a very warm individual. She engaged me in conversation throughout the process and realized that what some may consider painful, it is not that bad. Ask for Lilly at Maria Bonita and, like me, you will be gladly surprised.

Had an appointment once with Maria, she was a bit on the serious (dry) side, and much slower.

I have been to this salon at least 6 times. I have recommended it to several friends who will become regular visitors. Either ask for Maria or Julianna, they know what they are doing and are friendly.

I'll be honest - ever got a brazilian wax and leave the salon with unsightly stray hairs poking from all over? My boyfriend once pointed out to me "they missed a spot" down there! Ugh!
Well it's simply not a job well done (if it happens to you) and sometimes it helps to change venues.

I've been long overdue for such a change.

I originally picked Maria Bonita Salon & Spa for a brazilian/full leg wax based on the reviews on Citysearch..guess what...the search is over! Yup!

Maria is definitely on point with getting the job done right, she'll even take the time to tweeze any stray hairs and smooth you over with a soothing lotion. I even got my belly waxed as part of the brazilian package which never happens in the other salons! I also took advantage of the free (upper) lip coupon advertised on citysearch, so altogether I did have a happy valentine! :)

I've tried 3 other places in the past, the first two, I didn't feel comfortable and didn't bother going back and the the last place I had become a dedicated customer, well, until now. (Nails on 54th St) the lady there (Riva) was too rough in her waxing technique. She made me cringe everytime! Forget that! Don't settle for the discomfort! There are experienced professionals out there who can be quick, precise, and leave you feeling happy and silky smooth all over - isn't that the whole point you put yourself through this ordeal in the first place?

You won't regret it, Maria is great!

Maria is the BEST wax-tacitian in town!!! She is kind, efficient and keeps the "hot" times cool during the dreaded waxing experience. What a sweet lady. I felt welcomed at the salon. She has 28 years experience under her belt. I literally do not have to go back for over 5-6 weeks because her technique is on point. I especially appreciate her work during the Valentine's Day holiday. My man is very happy with the end result too. I am a dedicated client~

I?ve been going to Maria Bonita for the past three years. I?ve been getting my Brazilian wax, as well as full leg wax with Lily, and she?s amazing. She?s incredibly friendly, very personable and I would have never imagined that a Brazilian wax could be as painless as Lily makes it to be!!! I would absolutely recommend her to beginners...after that, you?ll just be addicted to her skilled work.
A few issues lately have been pushing me away. Within the past few months, booking an appointment with Lily has been almost impossible. Last week, when I was finally able to make an appointment with her, I came in and was told that my appointment wasn?t booked with Lily, and that I booked it with someone else. I?m sure I booked it with Lily as I don?t even know the other girls. It is very inconvenient for someone like me who travels from Northern New Jersey especially for Lily, to find out that my appointment was not booked properly. A similar issue occurred a few months ago. After booking my appointment, I traveled an hour to get to the salon, to then be told that it?s Lily?s day off. If it?s her day off, why was my appointment scheduled on that day? I?m really disappointed, and hope this issue gets resolved soon, so that I will be able to make my regular appointments with Lily again.
In this type of business, the owners/managers must understand that when a client is used to a certain technician/cosmetologist, it?s very hard to go to someone else, even if that someone else is ?just as good?.

I'm a native from Brasil, used to the brasilian way of doing things, and our beauty salons and techniques, I have found this place and I believe this to be one of the best outside of Brasil, we don't have many options, at least, good ones. Mariazinha is an amazing waxer, and the boys are so cute, and work hard at hair style, Roger and Nona, they are crazy by the way... The atmosphere is okay, they could change some things and be more receptive. Prices are alright, in between.

Just had a brazilian wax with Maria -- who is amazing. She is so warm and fun and when she gets down to business, she is quick and the whole procedure is virtually painless. (And, that's saying a lot for a brazilian wax!!) The vibe at Maria Bonita is relaxed and friendly -- great haircuts and manicures as well!

Fantastic waxing and blowouts. The facials are intense on the extractions--just how I like'm! Regina and Lilly are sweethearts. The only lackluster service is the shellac your whole finger then remove the excess mani pedis. The online booking system is super convenient and easy. Have sent many friends here any they all rave as well!

I just moved back from Los Angeles and I was worried about finding a great place to get my wax on. Luckily enough for me, I chose Maria Bonita. Regina was excellent!!! She was sweet, attentive, and very thorough. The pain was minimal and I even forgot to take my advil beforehand :) I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

Recomended by my friends, I had an appointment with Maria... THE BEST WAXIER EVEEEER! Ok, The Brazilian is not the most easy and quick wax, and she made it so unpainful and quick! Upon moving to NYC, I was anxious to find "my salon" & begin bikini waxes. I lived in the Midwest for the past year & it's a challenge to get a good wax. Based on the reviews here, I ended up making an appointment at Maria Bonita a few months ago. It was initially with Maria, but when I showed up, she was running behind & Regina was available instead. It had been a year since my last series of waxes (I lived in Italy, where they are so flawless & cheap, about $13..) so there was definitely a pain factor, as I had been shaving my bikini line in the interim. Regina was very efficient & thoughtful the entire time, though I did make a "touch up" appointment for about a week later, as there were some spots missed that I didn't notice until I got home. It was no charge, which was appreciated. Overall, I thought she was a big plus & I was glad to have finally found someone.

My appointments since then have gone off without a hitch -- she's right, after the first time, the "pain" (the quick bursts/stings) decrease tremendously as the hair grows back very thin. I'm not going to lie and say Brazilians don't smart at all (the pubic mound area will forever be the bane of my existence), but with Regina, I just laugh because I know the brief 15 minute process is going to be SO worth it. She really ensures I'm pleased with the result. My appointments tend to fall about a week before I have a visit scheduled with my boy, who is back in the Midwest, and Regina has learned that my waxes are very important to me because of that! `;o)

Sometimes I feel that the receptionists could be a bit more organized: I showed up to an evening appointment once, and Regina had gone home sick that morning -- but I didn't receive a phone call from the salon. The Brazilian at Maria Bonita is $55, which is a bit over mid-range. I don't think it's necessary to spend more than that in this city. And a hint -- tips are cash only.

Pros: Quick appointments, comfort level, location.

Cons: Disorganization (but just go with it), and price somewhat.

Everyone at Maria Bonita is pretty nice and good at what they do; but, Maria is a Rock Star!! I have been going to her for 5 years for Brazilian Bikini and She is amazing! She takes care of you, takes her time and does an amazing job! I have recommended many of my friends to her and they all have become happy, regular customers.

I have found the best waxier ever...Maria gave me a Brazilian bikini and a full leg in just half hr and on top of it she used a special machine to close your pores so you won't get any ingrown hair.
I'm definitively coming back and I?ll recommend her to all my girlfriends.

Having a waxing for the first time in a while I'm sure you can imagine I was a tad concerned and nervous. The last brazilian I received was probably the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. Yes I have a child. Regina was recommended to me by several sources and let me tell you I will never go anywhere else again. Not only did she do an amazing and truly virtually painless waxing she made me feel so comfortable and even gave me dating advice which was right on. REGINA you are amazing and I say thank you and I cannot recommend highly enough. THEN after my non tramatic waxing experience I had my hair blown out by Carmen and OMG really the best blowout ever!!! I work in the fashion industry and have seen it all. I will never go anywhere else. A+++++++++

I went to Maria Bonita Salon & Spa yesterday for a Brazilian wax. This was my first time I ever had this done. The reason why I picked this spa was due to the previous reviews that they received from other patrons. When I got to the spa the reception was very friendly and pleasant. I was then later greeted by Maria who preformed my waxing. Now I have to be complete honest, I did feel some pain. Overall I am very satisfied with my results. I thank God that Maria made me feel comfortable and preformed the procedure very quickly. I definitely plan on going back to see Maria in the near future.

I love the service and the energy, the employees are great and polite, give you great suggestions, was recommended by a friend, she is a regular there with Maria for the bikini wax and nails, Maria did my nails and Roger my hair, Nonato is great too, we talk about everything and they work fast, not that this is something that someone should care, but I do, I run, no stop, so, I need a place like that. So, thumbs up for the nails and hair, and a comment for my friend, the bikini wax. Hope that was helpful.

I have been trying different places to go to get brazilians, trying to find a regular place. I asked for Regina because I went by the reviews on this site and was amazed. She was done with 10 mins and it didnt hurt at all. She has magic hands. She put me at ease letting me know if it hurt or if i was uncomfortable to let her know but it wasnt. I have low tolerace for pain so its true. I also got the maria bonita mani pedi which was great as well and i had the mani with maria who is very nice, just hard to talk to because she doesnt speak much english. I had the mani with julianne who is so sweet and nice. I would totally recommend this place.

I went to Maria Bonita after a friend from work recommending Lili as the best waxer she has ever been to. I have never had a Brazilian wax before and I was terrified but I wanted to do it before my beach getaway. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I told Lili is was my first time and she was very sweet and told me which spot were going to probably hurt a little more than others and did a count with me and told me when to breath in and exhale to relax me. I thought it was going to be very painful and yes, there were spots where it was ultra sensitive, obviously, but It was not nearly as bad as I had imagined. It was over before I knew it and I am so glad I listened to my friends advice. Amazing! The results are wonderful and I will be going there again in 4 to 5 weeks. I am addicted and it is a lot easier to maintain that shaving. YAY FOR MARIA BONITA!

This was my first Brazilian Wax ever! I made my appt (online) with Regina, based on a review I read at this site. I am extremely satisfied with the entire experience. I was greeted warmly and was taken by Regina down to her room. Painful?...yes, but oddly enough only at the bikini line no where else...however the pain from this wax is nothing compared to labor pains (sorry had to throw that in there...just in case you're worried about the pain). Reginia was quick to put me at ease & made sure I wasn't holding my breath in. Regina was super-friendly, super-quick & super-thorough and EXTREMELY gentle. The salon itself is clean & bright but I don't believe I'll use the salon for other services (maybe eyebrow wax). I'll be going back to see her.

I have been going to Maria Bonita for manicures and pedicures for a long time, so I want to recommend the girls, they do a great job and mani/pedi last a long time. They do just like in Brazil, so it is a little bit different but very worth it.

I have gotten plenty of brazilian waxes here. and it's really always been great. but today...got a manicure and pedicure there because of a gift certificate, along with a brazilian...the wax is still awesome. but the mani pedi were NOT up to par. I felt that the woman was rude...didn't ask what shape i wanted and basically didn't shape my nails. the painting part was the worst. she would paint way outside the nail...and then go in to fix it? never seen it done that way. i thought it was a waste of time...and i really don't like nail polish remover all over my hands. the quality of it is the same as if you go to jay nail and paid 30 for both, instead of 60. maybe it was bad because i used a gift certificate? maybe it's the woman i had? honestly, i can do a better paint job myself. I totally recommend this place for waxes, but go elsewhere for mani pedi. totally not worth your money and time.

I did research for a brazilian blowout, i found Maria Bonita hair salon. It has many stars and many great ratings. I went to get my hair done with the morungo treatment. It cost me 300 $ My hair was the same after i washed it, and it looked like i did nothing to it. I came back. They redid it for free, and my hair dosent really look different. Its not the product because i did it before at a different salon before i went to maria bonita.
when i did go, they do good waxing and nails. and if you do hair, do it with the bald guy, hes the best one.
