1 Stars: STAY away at ALL costs! (by Patrick W.)

Pathetic at best. Expected much better from a supposedly big firm in the city. They charge outrageous amounts for horrendous service. Probably not the agents fault but a 15% fee for a one bedroom in Brooklyn is way too much money. So say the apartment you want is $1500, you will end up paying $2700 on COMMISSION just to take that apartment. All their listings are crap, I was taken to apartments with holes in the walls, missing refrigerators and when I asked when the repairs would be completed I was told two weeks... Two weeks later the place looked exactly the same -- bad right? IT get's worst.

I finally decided to close on a place and guess what, it was already RENTED and they took my application anyways!! It turns out all of Ardor's listings are OPEN listings meaning it's free game to every real estate agency out there. Your best luck is going to an agency in the borough you're searching. If in the city try HH realty or find a medium sized agency which will work for you.

STAY away from ardor at ALL Costs! I'm dead serious, this place is a virus.

1 Stars: hugely unprofessional (by Amy M.)

I think it's worth a point by point review....
1) I knew the neighborhoods far better than the agent, who still insisted we take wrong turns, and asked directions from people who clearly didn't speak English. I, however, speak fluent Spanish. I'm also a woman.
2) I am also a serious painter. As such, my only requirement was a great deal of light. He insisted that North facing windows get lots of natural light.
3) I have heinous credit. But I also have a guarantor who earns close to half a million dollars, and a cosignor who also earns quite alot of money. To pay for my supplies, I also work a verry corporate job and am working at rehabilitating my credit. At the end of our meeting the agent asked me about credit and began to roll his eyes when I said that I'd discuss my credit with the management company, with all required paperwork.
4) Agent (same as other reviewer?) could not give me accurate prices on some places and also showed me apartments with bedrooms that weren't anywhere near the housing or pricing requirements I specified.

His unprofessionalism was incredible. My bad credit shows on paper; his is manifested as his life.

1 Stars: Will squeeze ever last dime out of you (by derek g.)

HI,
I recently went as far as filling out all paperwork and handing them $75 for the credit check when the next day things started "coming up" First the move in date changed, forcing me to shell out half a months rent more...then the apt, which was sold to me as a "no fee" apt was suddenly a "fee" apt. The kicker is that it originally was no fee because the owner was going to pay the agent the fee, and that was set at 1 months rent, but now since I would be paying the fee they wanted 1 months rent plus $1000...sketchiest company I've ever dealt with and I would never do business with them nor would I ever recommend them to anyone but my most loathsome enemy.

4 Stars: all good (by Andrew H.)

Cool people. Found great apartment. No hassle. I'd give 5 stars if they had waived the broker's fee, but hey, they're running a business over there :)

2 Stars: Amateurs (by Andrew S.)

I found one of their listings through craigslist. The appartment is wonderful, but the broker experience was extremely negative. The one particular broker I was dealing with was very unprofessional, with poor follow-up skills, and didn't seem to care one bit. I wanted to kill her by the time I signed my lease. This particular individual acted like I was doing her a favor. Stay away unless you really want a particular property!

4 Stars: Nice realtor to find you a new apartment (by HP Q.)

We've had good experiences with Ardor Realty. They are very thorough and try to find you what you are looking for at a good price. Susan helped us and was very nice, met us within one day and showed up three apartments, all of which were nice. We didn't end up renting, but we had a nice experience and would definitely come back to them. They do a lot of the homework for you - if you're busy and can't do the research on your own, they can do a great job.

1 Stars: Inexperienced broker's with bogus listings (by Jill G.)

I would stick with Corcoran or Elliman when renting an apt. These broker's seemed very inexperienced. Also, they list many rentals that are in buildings that have leasing offices, such as Related Rentals, The Wellesley, The Colorado, and so on. They show many Sol Goldman properties, which are a farse. Apartments that Sol Goldman owns are almost impossible to get b/c they take 20-30 applications on each apartment. They frequently take your credit app. money and never actually run a credit report.

2 Stars: Middle of the road Real Estate Agency (by gideon h.)

I have dealt with a few different agents from this company and it is really nothing special. In New York City as crazy as the real estate market is i would hope that a broker would be able to show me why i need them. Is it in the sales/rental training? Everyone has these listings, deal with a broker who wants you as a client.

2 Stars: Outdated (by Eliza J.)

I spoke to an agent from here who was going to show me some apartments in "Park Slope" but when she gave me the addresses they were not even in Park Slope, they were all the way in Carroll Gardens! She told me she worked from home and that she did not have a cell phone number where I could reach her! Is she crazy? A broker without a cell phone?!?

I never actually got an apartmetn through these guys, but they were very helpful in trying to fiond me something. They werrent the typical crazy brokers. They had good listings and have a good website so you can see pictures of most places first. Definitely worth checking out

3 Stars: Apartment Searching Made Easier (by Jamie R.)

The agents are very helpfull at this agency. I was receiving daily links that met my search criteria forhousing. The agents are friendly and organized. The agent was informative and seemed to be honest and not looking to rip me off, I trusted him. Overall good experience, but most rentals they offer have high fees.
