Diva? More like DUD

by JohnnyCotts

On the one rare occasion when I didn't order an appetizer because I usually get full to easy, I eat at a place where the portions were so tiny that I was starving when I left. The food tasted good, but for the lobster ravioli, I only got FOUR raviolis. My girlfriend ordered the tuna dish and she only got four medallions (more like slivers) of tuna with a tablespoon or two of spinach. There was double the amount of spinach than tuna (my theory was that we were supposed to fill up on the spinach). While eating, we had to take the smallest bites possible so that we didn't finish too quickly.

Pros: Food tasted good

Cons: TINY portions

Beautiful ambiance!

by ShnnnS

I was visiting friends, and they suggested to dine here. It is a very elegant and classy place. It is packed on weekends, you really have to make reservations beforehand. The wait staff is superfriendly, great customer service. The food is excellent. For my next trip to New York City, I will definitely stop by!

Pros: ambiance

Great Soho Spot!

by citilivin

We just happen to stumble upon Diva and are so glad that we did. The food here is so amazing!! Every appetizer we had was delicious. Their lobster raviolli is definitely a must try. The crowd is fun, but the place is not overly loud and crowded. A perfect friday night spot for dinner and drinks! Will definitely be back soon!

Smooth Party

by kurdelicious

I've organized a big last minute birthday party there on february 2007... We had a great value open bar, we were allowed to use their dj booth and play our own music, and move the tables aside to create a dance floor :)) All of the staff from the managers to busboys were very friendly. Nobody really had much of a dinner so i dont know about their food... The manager, maybe it was just the party organizer, her name was Gaye if i'm not wrong, was extremely helpful!
Thank you guys....

Stopped in for a few drinks with coworkers, it is a great place and the service at the bar was friendly and prompt. Great cocktails. My new favorite place to visit when on business in NY.

RIP OFF!!!

by 1littleduck

The nicest things I can say are that they were able to seat a large party on short notice (perhaps because they've scared away so many people?) and they had decent salads. The rest of the experience was not pleasant. First of all they pulled the classic "what kind of water trick". If you said still water they brought you a bottle costing $7, and if you said sparkling it was $8! We were horrified and angry that anyone would still try to pull this kind of nonsense! Add to that the waitress was snotty when she deigned to make an apperance. The food was mediocre, and they forgot my mom's order entirely. Not a good experience. I would never go back.

Pros: Not a whole heck of a lot

Cons: Shady pricing an poor service

Awful service

by hgl123

My friend and I went here & were told that there was a party that was about to start but we were welcome to stay. Before our server took our drink order she told us that the prices on the menu were going to be higher that night because of the party. We wondered why because the party hadn't started yet and we weren't even a part of it. She never apologized, never changed her facial expression. Just told us that was the way it was. Then they hovered over us and brought our check over to say that they were closing soon. This was my first time. It seemed low-key, casual which is what appealed to me. But in the end, the service turned me off.

Ok small portions but overall decent

by rubicks13

Went there with 3 friends. To be honest with you the appatizers are bigger than the acutal main dishes. Buffalo mozz app is out of this world. Had seafood ling. Very good!!! Good food, super service Waiter was the man, fast seating, great place. I would go back but there are just so many to choose from in NYC.

Pros: food, service

Just Plain Awful

by cdjmiles

Filet comprised of membrane and sinew, roasted duck primarily fat and bone, undrinkable over-priced Chianti Clasico(screw-on top?). Waiter all but demanded a 33% tip...which she didn't get. She didn't make the food but she was rarely seen. Surprisingly, the desserts were excellent.

Pros: Dessert, Location

Cons: , Poor service

fantastic for parties

by foodieguynyc

I threw a birthday dinner on Friday night at 8pm for about 13 people. The beautiful blonde hostess was extremely friendly to us (despite the crowds of people waiting for tables outside), the service was quick and efficient, the food was excellent (nothing cold!), and the manager was very very accomodating. The tab was about $650, which included an appetizer and entree for each person and 4 bottles of wine for all of us. The manager even threw in a huge home-made birthday cake for all of us. It was really a great night.

Pros: beautiful space, great service

More a Mandy than Mariah

by linny690

This place is no real Diva, while the bread was outstanding, the one piece given to you was a pathetic tease. All the food tasted great but was a feast for Kate Moss not someone with a real appetite. The goat cheese in filo dough, the grilled calamari and the hamburger were outstanding tastes, but again just "tastes"- go for a light bite if you have the money to spend, and look at the beautiful people to remind you why you're barely eating.

great lobster ravioli's!!

by jenndemar

the only reason i go to diva is to get their AWESOME lobster raviolis. They really are the best ones i have i ever tasted. a little pricey but worth every last penny. diva is in a great location and is always crowded. if you later on in the evening, you will be crammed side by side with people, just so you know, but the lobster raviolis are worth it. great crowd.

Pros: lobster ravioli, chic place

Perfect for Business or Romance

by kathawk

When I lived in Soho, Diva became my favorite spot for taking clients and dates, and now that I live in Brooklyn, I still go back. Everyone always loves it. The ambience is great -- romantically rough-edged decor that's kept a little underlit, Latin music at a volume that allows conversation, and in the summer it's open to the streetlife of Soho. The food is just great, well-prepared and presented, and tastes wonderful. I've never had a bad meal in perhaps a dozen visits. The staff is friendly, alert and professional. And though there are usually plenty of gorgeous people there, it's also a welcoming spot for middle-aged post-hippies (like me). Totally recommended.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

by dmintz

Diva restaurant is ideal for people between 21-35 who can enjoy upbeat flamingo music while they drink and dine. The food is excellent, in particular the Red Snapper. Also delicious is the Farfalle, rich in a thick white sauce and sliced salmon. Their bread is the best I've had, warm and soft. Service is excellent. The ambiance is dim and sexy with candles on every table. The bartenders are attractive, attentive and quick. It's a cool place with good food.

Pros: Food, Service, Music

Cons: Should be larger
