I love eating at sushi mambo. The sushi is delicious (especially the Volcano roll). The edamame is crisp and perfectly salted. The miso soup doesn't disappoint. The best part is that it is quite affordable for sushi. Highly recommended!

I went here during the week and it was nice and calm; It's one of those restaurants with open sides to the street and I kinda like that, I had my feet hanging out while eating lol. The avocado, cucumber, and spinach rolls were good. My cousin hated the shrimp tempura rolls, couldn't even finish them.

although all of the other reviews are positive here, i feel i must give a voice to the REPEATED awful, slow, and RUDE service i've had nearly every time i've gone to mambo, as well as the mediocre sushi, soups, lunch boxes, and other items i've tried. at best it's not too bad, and at worst it's fishy and nauseating.

i work in the neighborhood and have tried mambo many times because i love sushi and it is nearby. pretty much every single time i go the service is VERY slow. you are hard pressed to even get a glass of water. you have to flag down a waiter for water, then to order, then practically wave a plane onto the landing strip to get your check. They never ask how the food is; clearly they do not care.

occasionally the fish is good; i recommend the rolls, NOT the sushi or sashimi.

the last time i went however, is the reason i'll never go back. my friend and i sat down and had to wait 40 MINUTES for any food at all. we had to flag a waitress down and ask for tea, flag her down to order, and flag her down for our check at the end of the meal . of course no one ever checked to see if our food was satisfactory. we asked twice for water and finally got it as we were DONE eating our meals. every person around us had their order taken before us even though they ALL came in after we did. Both of the servers were very rude. One actually REACHED across our faces mid conversation to take the soy sauce off our table with out asking and give it to the man next to us. (there were plenty of other open tables he could've taken the sauce from).

there are plenty of better sushi places in the city ( i recommend sushi yama on carmine; especially their lunch box. ) where things are fresh and you aren't treated rudely.

maybe dinner time is a different story, but after about 20 mediocre/bad lunch trips there, i've given up and will not be back.

a friend of mine decided to take my boyfriend and i to this place. he kept saying this is the "it" place for sushi and after finishing my very generous portioned combo spicy plate, i couldn't agree more. Everything about this place is AWESOME!!! the freshness of the sushi is divine, the atmosphere is clean, beautiful and very zen like and our waiter was one of the nicest waiter's i've ever had. I am even thinking about introducing this place to my friends for my birthday dinner b/c its just that good. everyone should experience the deliciousness that is sushi mambo!

i live down the street from sushi mambo and eat there or have take out 2 to 3 days a week. it is by far my favorite sushi in the city, and i have dined at many other "trendy" and much more expensive japanese restaurants all over manhattan. not only is it affordable, the staff is sooo nice, and the sushi never ceases to melt in my mouth....A TRUE NEIGHBORHOOD GEM!

Sushi Mambo foods are Fabulous....those were amazing...
Among numerous Japanese restaurants in NY, sushi mambo is the one of best resturant...
its fish is always fresh, and teriyaki is sooooo good, specially seafood teriyaki...
in addition, its service is sooooooo friendly...
I can strongly recommend...Never regret..

This place is on my favorite street in the West Village. Great atmosphere and friendly service. We always get the couple's sushi and one of their dragon rolls. You will be plenty full with all this food. It comes with miso soup too. Right now, they have a special for $1 beers, who can beat that!
If you are looking for great sushi, this place has fresh, big, yummy sushi. My fav in NY so far.

I am a regular at Mambo, and am never disappointed. The fish is always fresh, and the taste and quality are consistent. They have an extensive menu of both hot and cold dishes, including many interesting appetizers-- I particularly enjoy the pan-fried gyoza and anything tempura, as it has always been light and crispy. One criticism-- the hot food is sometimes scalding hot, causing me to suspect that they are using a microwave to heat it up (this was the case with beef negimaki, for example, which remained inedible for close to ten minutes, and then it was delicious). However, I overlook this issue because I really go there for the sushi, comfortable surroundings, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. And their $1 sake/beer deal on weeknights is pretty great, too.

My wife and I have been coming here at least once a week and love it. The lunch specials are HUGE and under $10. The atmosphere is very nice, especially during the warmer months when the doors are opened to create an open-aired environment. The shush platters are a great deal...I've brought friends and still couldn't finish the platters...our bill cost us something like $15 each (including drinks) at dinner for more food than we could eat. It's a dim atmosphere with an open aired kitchen/sushi bar. The music is modern American rather than oriental type music typically played at sushi bars. During the winter they have a special for $1 Sapporos and $1 Sakis when you order from the menu. That's all night too...you drink 10, you pay $10...great deal. I've been taking advantage of that. Anyhow, I highly recommend this place!

This has become a sushi restaurant staple for husband and I. The sushi is fresh and the portions are fairly large making this a great value overall. The service is good and it's nice when they open the doors when it's warm out. The fried tempura (green tea) ice cream is fantastic. You can't get such a great dessert anywhere else for under $7 and it's big enough to share.

On our way to another restaurant with some friends we happened by Sushi Mambo and on a whim decided to stop in. The sushi was great and the service was superb. I'll definitely be back and would recommend this to anyone that enjoys quality sushi and great service.
