EVEN IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THE ATMOSPHERE AND CANNOT EAT CERTAIN THINGS ON THE MENU, THE CHEF SAID HES NOT PREPARED TO VEER OFF HIS MENU. IN THE MEANTIME, THE CHEF FIVE MINUTES LATER IS GREETING A TABLE AND SPENDS ABOUT 15 MINUTES TALKING WITH THEM. YOU FEEL YOU ARE TOO IMPORTANT TO MAKE A PIECE OF GRILLED CHICKEN...GIMME A BREAK...DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT JUST REOPEN YOUR DOORS BECAUSE OF BAD MANAGEMENT. DON'T DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE MR. CULINARY CHEF. THE GUYS ON THE STREET, ESPECIALLY THE GYROS HAVE A FRIGGIN LINE DOWN THE BLOCK AND WE SPENT 200.00 DOLLARS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!

What a joke this place is not a Steakhouse. 8 steaks at the table not one cooked the right way. Service was terrible from hello to goodbye. Please do not waste your time ANY other steakhouse would be much better.

A group of my friends recently went to MJ's for dinner as part of restaurant week. After sitting down, we were informed that the restaurant does not participate in restaurant week for dinner but that they are aware that the website says they do. We were told there is nothing they could do but when we almost left, they offered to give us a special menu- but not without a couple of snide comments from the waiter. At that point, we should have left because we were treated horribly throughout the meal. My friend who has Celiac disease was treated like a complete inconvenience to the restaurant and not offered any substitutes that she could eat. She had never been treated so badly at a restaurant. It was impossible to enjoy any of the meal when we were being treated so horribly.

We are all in our mid-twenties and while we were going out for restaurant week, we would have been more than willing to spend a large sum of money on a great meal and an enjoyable experience. It is a shame that a well-established (though mostly empty) restaurant like MJ's felt the need to belittle us and act so unprofessional in an understandbly awkward situation. Restaurant week is supposed to allow New Yorkers to enjoy the great restaurants that the city offers at an afforable price, but in this case, MJ's went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome.

I am certain that no one at our table will ever go back there, and I advise everyone to avoid it.

The steaks here are unbelievable! Everything on the menu is fantastic. It's right in Grand Central so it's fun to people watch as well. The menu is no doubt, expensive, but it is worth every penny. I'm looking forward to going back for a special occasion! I highly recommend it! (Even the onion straws are amazing!)

I went to Jordan?s yesterday (Friday 2/20/09) for lunch with three friends from work. We ordered the burgers. Two ordered them medium, one medium-rare and I requested mine rare. When the burgers finally arrived almost 40 minutes later, one was medium-rare (as ordered) and the other three were all very well done, dry, taking the form of bloated hockey pucks. Regardless, after waiting almost 40 minutes we fell upon the burgers like a pack of hungry wolves, taking the occasional moment to complain to each other about how overcooked and dry the burgers were (except of course the one member of the party who got his medium-rare as ordered). It is amazing how a high end restaurant can get three out of four dishes so wrong. Instead of enjoying a nice Friday lunch that we all looked forward to ending the workweek with, we spent the afternoon nursing stomach aches. Much like Pamela Anderson, a peanut butter brownie, or a shiny Chinese toy, although Jordan?s may appear enticing at first blush, one would be well advised to keep their distance.

This is a must do at least once. Every member of the staff is very helpful and sincerely very friendly. The service is truely outstanding without hovering. Being located over the concourse of GCT is a perfect NYC experience. The food, while predictable is very, very good. Definitely pricey but, hey, what do you expect?

I have made MJ's Steakhouse and Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show a family tradition during the Christmas Hoiiday. My 50th Bday was celebrated by having the ultmate dining experience; wined and dined in the MJ's Steakhouse VIP room along with my family. And each time, for me, there is nothing else but that porterhouse for two and a good cabernet to make for satisfying face feeding.

Pros: Excellent porterhouse. Perfect ambience during the Christmas Holiday season

I have had better steaks at Outback! How can a famous steak house serve a bad $40 petite filet? Very disappointing. The gorgonzola fondue was delicious and the servcie was very attentive. We were seated promptly and were given the seats with a view that we requested. The ceasar salad was average and the sides were terrible. The mushrooms were rubbery and salty and the mashed potatos were definitely instant. Unbelievable! Go visit Grand Central Station but eat somewhere else.

My fiance and I randomly went in Grand Central on Sunday during a long walk for a few drinks and ended up being pleasantly surprised!! Despite being quite warm at the bar we ended up staying for a couple of hours...excellent and charming bar staff! The bartender was not only the most sincere person I've ever met in a Manhattan bar/restaurant but she made the best mojito I have had in the City!! A bit pricey for the drinks but worth it for the service and the scenery!

The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that the chocolate cake wasn't the best I've had. But the service was amazing, the food was delicious (try the garlic bread with gargonzola sauce) and served with perfect timing. If you find yourself at Grand Central Station, I recommend making a stop here. Enjoy!

This is the way a perfect meal and service should be. Even though it is pricey it is worth every penny. Flawless service and delicious food in a palace setting. fron the second you walk in to the exit you are treated like royalty. I am a foodie and a regular at numerous celebrity chef restaurants, but this was my first time at Michael Jordan's. I have read the reviews and the awards "Best Restaurant in the World" "Best Restaurant of the Year" "Top Chef" crazy busy, and I was curious to see if the restaurant is what it is. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the presentation divine. The service is top notch and the decor is spectacular. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, and a romantic night, or a smart business deal. Whatever you decide, it is worth checking out. Just bring your Amex! It is worth every penny you spend.

This was the worst dining experience I've ever had at this level of 'fine dining'. The waiter was intrusive, pushy, over-bearing, insulting, and downright rude trying to embarrass my dinner partner. We ordered wine at OUR price range, in the $40's, which was closer to $5 retail - so that's already an 80% markup. The waiter kept INSISTING on recommending his wine and OF COURSE went straight for the $275 bottles, attempting to EMBARASS my dinner partner for having picked out an affordable choice of wine for us. When we did order before dinner cocktails instead of a bottle, he said, oh are you sure you won't have wine with those fabulous steak - (as if the horror of horrors had just been committed)- shall I go ahead and recommend a wine so I can uncorck it for you. NO, MOVE AWAY FROM OUR TABLE, LEAVE US ALONE UNLESS WE ASK FOR SOMETHING. It was like being hi-jacked, and in hind-sight we both would have gotten up to leave. HALF HOUR AFTER BEING SEATED WE FINALLY GOT OUR DRINKS.

And it didn't stop there, 'no greens?' was the song sung the moment we ordered our dinner. NO, NO GREENS, IF WE WANTED GREENS WE WOULD HAVE ORDERED THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Maitre D had to come and apology to the table of 6 next to us, because of this watier's OBNOXIOUS haggling interfeirence with the enjoyment of everyone's dining experiences. This is a fine restaurant, NOT A USED CAR SHOP!

I will never set foot, to offer one more dime of my hard earned money, or for that matter, a CHA'CHING, FAT, FAT, FAT, JUICY FAT, EXPENSE ACCOUNT , to these fools.

What an awful experience. The appetizers and the side dishes were perhaps the most unimaginative that I have had ever. And talk about overpriced! They were more than bland, you could do better with a microwave. The waiter gave us no direction in what we were ordering and we wound up with too much food.

On top of that the atmosphere was ugly, loud and open. I prefer more intimate spaces. Not the sort of place that makes a great date night.

The steak was OK, but you would do better at Peter Lugar or Smith and Wolansky. They slather the top in clarified butter as well, so it masks the true quality of the beef.

MJ's place is a waste of time and money. The hostess (with her over exposed cleavage and constant eye-rolling) was unpleasant and for the most part indifferent towards us. Although the menu is standard steakhouse fare, I was pleasantly surprised to find blue point oysters (a Long Island specialty) as the appetizer for the day. That is, until our server came and placed six absolutely rancid and ROTTING oysters on our table. They smelled like the sweepings from the floor of the primate exhibit at the Bronx Zoo... they were absolutely horrendous and I refused to have them at the table. Bill, the maitre'd was excellent and apologized profusely (even gave us a free $14.00 slab of cheesecake for compensation) but it certainly didn't make up for the rest of the meal. The New York strip was stringy and dry, the $12.00 cesar salad was TRULY AWFUL (I've seen better, fresher romaine lettuce at Wendy's) and the "herb roasted" mushrooms tasted of pure salt. One bonus, the crawfish chowder was very rich and tasty.
Overall, the service was excellent (with the exception of the ditzy and unpleasant hostess) and the food was awful. Eat at your own risk...

Perfect...Couldnt have been better. The restaurant is always packed so make a reservation, and while you wait get a drink at the fabulous bar. The view is unbelievable, overlooking the Grand Central Station. The service was lightning fast and were very courteous. The food came quick and was great. I reccommend the Shellfish Plater for appetizer...42 dollars but brings a 1.5 pound maine lobster and 5 shrimp the size of a fist. For the entree I reccommend the 40 oz. Porterhouse (Can feed 3 adults w/appetizer) and is fabulous, and cooked perfectly. We didnt have dessert but everyone seemed to love it. Expensive but well worth the money!!!

Where to begin?! We were sat promptly, but when our waitor came over he didn't even ask us what we'd like to drink. Then my husband asked if they had a wine by the glass list and the server snatched the Bottle list out of my husbands hands.
When he took our order we just KNEW he was going to mess up. Sure enough! Our appetizer (garlic bread fondue) came out immediatly but as soon as we took one bite our meals came! How they cooked 2 steaks in 5 minutes is beyond me. Plus they were cold on top of that?! Turns out they gave my husband the wrong size and we realized once we got to the middle that we had each others meals, not our own. The waitor was snobby and the service was horrible. We felt completely uncomfortable and rushed. We will NEVER go back again.

Thought I would check out MJordan's Steakhouse despite the number of poor reviews...If you are looking for unique ambiance...you will find it here amongst the thousands moving in and out of Grand Central...service was attentive until a party of 15 sat next to us and then it went downhill from there...food was served luke warm and was not worth raving...steak was decent and salmon was barely even cooked...$14 23 layer chocolate cake tasted like it had been cooked in with the steak and had an unwelcoming smokey flavor...go for a drink at the bar but don't bother going any further!

We were promptly seated but hardly welcomed at all. Got seated right next to a HUGE floor standing air con. Whats this Bangladesh or? Asked the maitre for a wine recommendation and straight he went to a 280 USD recommendation. Really sad and unprofessional. Starters were below average especially the asparagus wich were almost still frozen. Onto their famous steaks. Overdone of course (as almost always in NY) with a BLACK and BURNED thick crust on them. I really stated to the waiter the we wanted our steaks rare as they should be if you expect high quality meat but to no avail. All in all we felt sad and extremely dissapointed after spending 600$ in a classic tourist trap!!!!! Two tables next to us also seemed to have different problems both with food and service. Remarkable even when the restaurant was almost empty (no surprise). What a dissapointment!!!!!

I had heard some pretty negative things about Michael Jordan's (service and over-cooked steak), but I found none to be true on my recent visit. I had 7:00pm reservations, was seated and attended to immediately. As the restaurant became increasingly crowded, the service remained quick and pleasant. I had a tasty Caesar salad for an appetizer and ordered the 10 oz Fillet Mignon medium rare. Having heard that the steakhouse had a tendency to overcook the steaks, I asked the waitress that she ask the chef to prepare it "closer to rare than medium." It came out perfectly and was delicious. My dinner guest said his was great as well (the beef tips [medium]). The sides were nothing special (we had the sampler) but good enough. The ambience is spectacular. I would definitely go back!!!

    Pros: steak, ambience

    Cons: side dishes

Located in Grand Central Terminal, you'll find yourself feeling like VIP status although you don't need to necessarily dress like one. You are escorted to your table and you are taken back by the rush of commuters below you as you sit and relax and marvel over the art on the ceiling. The food is sooo good you can't help but slowly chew each piece while savoring the meat. The side dishes are scrumptious as well. The food itself was 5 stars however if you sit at the end, you might need to do more than wave your end to catch the waiter's attention.

November, 2004 - The restaurant is lovely. Our waiter was unprofessional. My bestfriend ordered Peppercorn Buffalo - medium well done. Peppercorn sauce wasnt flavorful. I ordered the strip steak medium - the waiter or the chef reversed our requests. I had my overcooked steak replaced; my friends buffalo cooked longer. The waiter insisted I ordered well done! The waiter suggested an excellent bottle of Bordeaux (almost worth the $65 price). My friend ordered dessert and was served the wrong dessert; the waiter insisted she was wrong. A couple sitting at the table next to us said they'd heard her order that particular dessert because they wanted the same thing and wanted to see our order! The waiter with lots of attitude changed the order. The fries were good and steak was ok. My girlfriend was disappointed with the Buffalo. I will not return to Michael Jordan's nor recommend it!

My husband and I ate here for a birthday celebration and had the perfect dinner. Our food was delicious - the wait staff was friendly and not pretentious at all and the service was just perfect. It took us about 1:45 from start to finish and was perfect. We had the ceasar salad which was nice and the filet - perfect and the ny strip - perfect. we had the combination side sampler which was delicious. I think it was worth the money spent and is an establishment I will go back to again.

I chose to go to MJS over many other "best-rated" competitors because I have always had a great time there. However, yesterday the experience was terrible. The steaks were both overdone (we ordered medium rare)--there was a crunchy, burnt part on the filet mignon, and the ribeye steak was mostly gristle. I could not even cut it since it was so chewy. Luckily, management agreed with me and removed the price of the ribeye from our bill. The only thing that was decent last night was the gorganzola bread appetizer and the mashed potatoes. The broccoli rabe--blah! I was disappointed since we had gone there for a special occasion. Had that been my first time there, I would definitely never have returned. But I am keeping an open mind since MJS has never disappointed me before, prior to last night.

I have NEVER in my life had such horrible service (and I eat out a LOT). The food was great, although not worth the price. the service was non-existent, the staff was rude, it was a complete disappointment. I dine in the MJS in Connecticut frequently and would highly recommend it, but you could not pay me to eat in the NY restaurant again.

I thought it was great. The service was perfect, food was excellent. The steak was the best I ever had. For desert I had the fruit bowl, it was the freshest fruit I had ever eaten. I would recommend Michael Jordans to everyone.

The one thing I didn't like about this restaurant was that you eat INSIDE Grand Central Station. The station is beautiful, but I felt out of place eating in it. Also, the steak is decent, but I definitely like Peter Luger's the BEST.

It is said that MJ has never set foot in his eponymous restaurant, and now I know why. You can't find a server and when you do, he is more interested in "hitting" on your date then doing his job. Steaks are average at best, seafood is way below par. Ambiance is great if you get a table overlooking the mezzanine. Beyond that, if you need the be in GCS, stop here for the hot bar action. If you want to have a good steak, go to Lugars.

What an awesome place. GREAT FOOD and GREAT Environment. Don't let the Grand Central Terminal scare you as it is quieter than most Manhattan restaurtants. Well priced and balanced wine selection. Service was impeccable! Ask for Sal as your Waiter!!

went there for lunch, hostess asked if we had reservations and we didn't. she then gave us some nasty look and told us to go up the stairs where the restaurant was not even full. after sitting at the table for ten minutes i asked someone for menus. bread came another 10 minutes later. we ordered filets, and ny steaks eventhough our waiter kept pushing up to get the porterhouse. then it took more 40 minutes for our steaks to arrive. i got a ny steak strip. it was good but i wasn't sure how long they dry aged it because it wasn't as flavorful as it should have been. mashed potatoes were ordinary. fries were good hot and crispy. i guess you pay for the location. wouldn't go there again though.

If you are a serious steak eater, looking for a serious steak in Midtown, Michael Jordan's Steakhouse is the place for you. The porterhouse for two was probably the best steak I have ever eaten. They preslice it for you, the service was incredible, and the steak fries were great too. It was a little pricey however ($70) and the MJ Steak Sauce isn't as good as ol' reliable A1. You can also reserve MJ's private table with groups of six or more. I would definitely go back.

Great location overlooking Grand Central Station. Friendly staff. The food was amazing. I had a rib eye, it was just perfect. If steak was love this steak would have been the orgasm! Huge portions, so your best to share you side dishes. Wife had NY strip, again was the business. Ruth Chris was my best steak experience until I went to this place. A must do for anyone, especially Brits like myself, as you will never get steak like this at home. Simply put..brilliant food and location.

We were visting New York During the 2002 Thanksgiving Holiday. We decided to have dinner at Michael Jordan's. I give this restaurant a "10" - The food was excellent (we had the turkey and my husband had the steak) They give you so much food. The manager that night... was so nice to us and even came up to my son to talk to him. The restraunt overlooked Grand Central Station (all open) We were very very very happy with this restaurant.

We often stop here for a quick drink if we are waiting for the train. The popcorn on the bar is addicting! The drinks are usually excellent; the bar tender will make anything you like. Yes, it's expensive but you know you're getting a good drink and can still make your train.

Food was great. Pricey but what do you expect when you eat in one of the most beutiful buildings in the world. Everything a'la carte. Expect 110 for a dinner for two more if you are a heavy drinker. I especially recommend the creamed corn side.
