.

I have to say for having such a classy shop in the middle of Syracuse's downtown ( Hanover Square ), Ed who is one of the owner is dishonest and sure cut corners when it comes to alteration.

They do have a very attractive suit selection, but as far as the alteration goes....it is done poorly!!! My husband bought a stripe suit for our wedding ( which was $600), and thank god I noticed how poorly the alteration was after the wedding. Otherwise, I would've been beside myself! All he needed was the jacket shorten, and the pant hemmed and cuffed. When I noticed one of his pant leg was shorter then the other, I checked the suit out and found many other problems. Instead of the jacket being hand stitched at the bottom, the lining was tucked under and glued to the shell!!! As for the pant, the right leg was shorter than the left leg because Ed cut it too short and did not have enough to cuff it properly.

We presented these problems to Ed, who altered it, and all he could say was he could alter it again by hand stitching the jacket bottom and hemming the pant without the cuffs. That way it will be even at the bottom. But what Ed doesn't understand is that's not the way my husband wanted his suit. The end result....hummmm....nothing was done and Ed did not feel he did anything wrong.

This company has poor customer service, and the alteration is done poorly for a store that has very expensive and high quality suits....so they should really live up to their reputation considering Koolakian's been in business since 1957. I would recommend that if anyone purchase a suit or suits from them and need it altered, please check the alteration before you walk out with the merchandise.
