South Shore Opticians is a family run optical business since 1957. We have and always strive to give the best optical care to our patients. We have 3 licensed opticians on staff and an excellent Optometrist, full time. The below 2 reviewers have us confused with Green Acres Opticians. which has been closed down for around 15 years. Harold Parker( NOT Dr. Parker) was the owner of Green Acres Opticians and is an optician. We also except Medicaid and many other insurances and never turn away patients or have special Dr.'s only for Medicaid. I have been employed at South Shore Opticians for the past 20 years and welcome any one reading this review to come in to our office and ask for Ira to receive a 20% discount on their next pair of eyeglasses. We carry a large collection of designer frames. Come in for a wonderful experience.

I was going to South Shore Opticians since I was about twenty years old. (I am almost forty three now) I went there because they were the only optician that I could find that accepted Medicaid. I was happy for years. I go once every two years ( that is all my insurance will pay for) for an examination and a new pair of eyeglasses. the last three times I went I felt that the doctor rushed through my examination. The last time I went I called before I went to make sure that I could be seen because they don't make appointments, I also told them that I have Medicaid.. They assured me it would be fine. I brought my mom and our neighbor along so they could help me pick out new glasses. The man that helped me said that I couldn't be seen today because the Medicaid doctor wasn't in. (there were other doctors there) I told him about my phone call and he snapped at me and was so rude that I walked out and never went back even though I didn't know at the time where else to go that accepted Medicaid. My mother and neighbor were appalled. Well after calling half of the optometrists in the phone book I found another one that accepted Medicaid. I went there and was told that I was wearing the wrong prescription. My brother also went to South Shore Opticians (he does not have Medicaid) and he was told that he has astigmatism. He was not happy with the way he was treated there either so he went to the new optometrist that I found and was told that he didn't have astigmatism. After the way I was treated and diagnosed at South Shore Opticians you couldn't pay me to go back there again. They do accept most insurance plans and major credit cards. They have a large parking lot. The office is relatively clean.

PROS: They accept Medicaid
CONS: Bad diagnosis's and rude staff
