My review could take hours to write it up but I will say this money hungry folks. My dog got hit by a car, and thankfully no breaking bones just road rash and chunks of skin off her leg, when we left there she told us that we wouldn't need a couple things done because Of her vitals and how in the X-rays show no damage, well 2 hrs after arriving home I get. A call giving 2 options on the healing process which confused my parents an my fianc. She said because of the tissue damage it might heal properly with stitches exrta $250 yah no. Or we can bandage it ourselves every day for 2 weeks to another 2 weeks twice a week. I told her I would call back let me discuss, my fianc called back an she told him that we would have to bring her to vet everyday for a new bandage to be wrapped WTF why would you recommend that when you first told us that u want to help us save ,money you did no such thing you kept adding and adding. I usually go to burnt hills vet best place ever but unfortunately they aren't open on Sundays. I would never go here again I have had plenty of animals growing up never have I experienced this from any place before. So much for caring people.

I have to say that I have been to Latham Animal Hospital twice once with my dog,and today with my cat..Living in rotterdam I have a regular vet but both times I had what I felt were small emergencies that required me to bring them in on a weekend night...Both times they saw me right away, were very friendly and caring, and yes it was expensive BUT they let me know right away it would be more.Just having my animals cared for in an emergency was worth it,piece of mind.....I would expect any kind of doctor, vet etc that was available at those times to charge more...If I lived closer I would use them as my permanent vets !!!

My 6-year-old beagle lacerated her ear and required emergency care. Intending to go the the Latham Emergency Clinic, we noticed on the way that the Latham Animal Hospital was open (evidently they are open 24 hours, as they cover for other area vets). The staff and veterinarians were wonderful. She was immediately attended to, requiring general anesthesia and nine stitches. The price was fair, given that this was emergent and I would easily trust this facility if anything else were to happen with our pets.

My heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Latham Animal Hospital. Last weekend was the worst day of my life and the staff at the hospital were so caring and did everything in there power to make this decision a gentle and caring one. I did not have the opportunity to personally thank you but I am now. And for the card that I received today you truly went above what I could have hoped for. Thank you and keep doing what you do.

1/30/10: Kelly got sick yesterday morning throwing up when we realized she had eaten the orange plastic mesh bag our oranges came in. We thought she got everything up but she continued to vomit through this evening and we knew we needed to bring her to the Latham Animal Hospital (NOT the Emergency Clinic). We didn't have an appt and we were so surprised that they were still open at 6:30pm but they brought us in right away, did an x-ray and found that she still had some material stuck in her stomach and would need emergency surgery. The vet was soo professional and compassionate, we knew we could trust her to take care of Kelly. She called us as soon as the surgery was over to reassure us of Kelly's condition. We absolutely love this vet and will continue to use her as Kelly's primary vet for follow-up and annual check-ups. Thank you for taking care of our baby!

Terrible!
The staff was unprofessional, Seemed to only care about making a dollar not concerned with my dog's well-being at all. She was being borded there for 3 days, told me when I picked her up they were charging me for a physical, which I did not authorize and then told me that if I didnt pay, they were seizing ownership. I would not reccomend this vet to anyone!!!

FYI: There are TWO animal hospitals within a 1/2 mile radius from each other. The ANIMAL EMERGENCY CLINIC is 222 Troy Schenectady Rd and is NOT Latham Animal Hospital (which is a full-service veterinary facility--they even offer boarding services).
When reading these reviews, please realize that some of these people may be talking about the EMERGENCY CLINIC, not Latham Animal Hospital. If you see a review where the pet looks like it was in an emergency situation, chances are that it WAS NOT BROUGHT TO LATHAM ANIMAL HOSPITAL, but to the ANIMAL EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. Just a FYI from a long-time Latham Animal Hospital "patient" with two dogs.

We brought our indoor/outdoor rabbit in late one night after finding he had a small injury that while he was outside for a few hours, had drawn flies. Two days later, to my horror, we found he had gotten maggots in the injury. We rushed him to the hospital (an hour away) to be told that he would be thoroughly clipped and all the maggots removed. I picked him up again at 7:30am and brought him to my regular vet. I found out that Latham didn't sedate him to clip him properly and had left a pocket of maggots in him. If I didn't worry about maggots in him overnight, I would have waited the 7 hours and brought him to my vet and would have saved myself $500. Their only response was "Sorry" and a refund of $50 for the lousy clip job. They didn't understand that the only reason to bring him in was to remove ALL the maggots. And yes, he also got fleas while there. He's 3yrs old and never had a flea until he went to that clinic.

My Rottie had lyme disease and I didn't know about it. We went on vacation and boarded her at our usual kennel. When we got home a week later she was practically dead. Our normal animal hospital didn't have room for an emergency appointment! Unbelievable! Rushed her to Latham Animal Hospital and they were absolutely wonderful. She was comatose when we brought in, they did bloodwork right way and found lyme disease. She was pumped full of antibiotics and fluids, as she was also dehydrated. They did everything they could do, and we decided to take her home to hopefully not die. They call that night, and the following morning. She made it through the night and is getting stronger everyday. They called me everyday for 5 days to make sure she was getting stronger. This hospital is made up of Angels, everyone one of them, from Doctors, to Lab Techs to the office receptionists. I have switched all my dogs records to this hospital and will continue to go there. This hospital is a blessing!

The staff took my Mischief and cleaned her eye socket and stitched it up and I have had her home for two years now with no complications from surgery. Yes it was expensive approx 2000.00 but my dog is worth it and it was an emergency surgery after my normal veteranarians hours. It probably would have been a few hundred cheaper at my vet but she got hurt during late afternoon play. She is a Pomeranian Pekingese and does not even know what is wrong now or that she only has one eye. I have seen other surgeries such as these done on other dogs and hers looks the most natural and her face still looks normal. We got her back the next afternoon and I appreciate the great job. This was done at the Latham Emergency Clinic at 222 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham

My 7 year old Westie came down with severe abdominal complications without warning. We rushed to her the Latham Vet Hospital. The doctor and staff spent hours working on her trying to get her better. Finally, it was determined that our little girl had an ulcinoma. It was too far advanced to cure. Her glucose level could not be maintained at a healthy level because of the tumor. The doctor was wonderful and we could not have asked for better care. My husband and I came in the following morning to say goodbye to our precious angel. It was the best gift we could have asked for given her diagnosis. Thank you Latham Vet for all of your efforts. The staff was truly touched by our Angie and so sad when she passed away. In the end, however, it was the most humane decision, heartbreaking as it was to do.

My pet was not helped. she died 2 days after they charged a rediculous fee. Over $500.00. This Vet Hospital wants to know what's in your wallet! They take Ex-rays, Blood test, In my case their xrays, examination, and their Diagnosis was 200 percent WRONG. Be sure to put a flea repellent on your animal because if you don,t you may be treating a flea infestation. Look at their exam room. Look at the table before you put your pet on it. You'll see animal hairs and particles from other pets. THEY DO NOT CLEAN THEIR EXAMINATION ROOMS COMPLETLY. I learned the hard way. I,m just telling you my situation. I know this. If I ever get another pet. I will never, ever, bring it there!
