If you travel through the boroughs to and from work like I do you??ll agree that spotting an upscale deli is like spotting a street vendor on a corner that sells you a meal in a plastic box; there is little that distinguish the food or the facility. Othello??s Deli however, brings a refreshing twist to all of our favorite foods. Upon entering you will notice the bright florescent lighting and wide open space that appears inviting for any time of the day.
The staff personnel behind the counter and around the facility are friendly and efficient. Regardless what point of the day it is, there is a wide selection of desserts, fresh produce, and prepackaged meals to choose from. There are also warm meals that are made to order as well. My first time there I order a Grilled Caesar Wrap for lunch and came back the next day for breakfast. I love coming by here for their homemade oatmeal with fresh fruit blend. This is definitely the spot for when you??re having a case of the early morning munchies. I??ve tried numerous delis throughout New York, and I must admit that this is the best place for a really good sandwich! Whenever I am there they sandwich maker remembers me and is nice enough to add extra meat because he knows that I love pastrami. I especially love their special where customers could get a sandwich, fries, and drink for only $5.50+tax. The service at Othello??s is always friendly and the food is always fresh. I recommend this spot for any hungry person searching for a better than average deli.

Othello deli has fine food at a reasonable price, not to mention good portions! You'll brag about it like I do.

I LOVE Othello! I buy sandwiches or hot food from here at least 3-4 times a week. Everything is always extremely fresh, well-prepared and inexpensive. The deli is very bright & clean and the guys behind the counter are all incredibly friendly. I agree with another reviewer that some of the grocery items can be a bit pricey, but it's not too bad and they do carry a pretty good selection (they even have organic milk & eggs and a few Amy's frozen entrees).

I always get the turkey sandwich. They use Boar's Head meats and cheeses which always makes for a tasty treat. They are also very generous with the meat on the sandwiches as well. I always end up full from eating one half of it (leftovers for lunch!) Their mascot, Romeo, is adorable, and the guys who work here are all super friendly. Some of the standard grocery goods are overpriced, but, I'd rather give my money to a local joint like this than one of the conglomerates.

Pros: Fast, friendly, open late (and early)

Cons: Credit card minimum/surcharge
