Great Place, even better food, only one issue.. The MANAGER WAS NASTY AND RUDE! We asked for a table and she ignored us for about 15 mins and when she finally came over she had an attitude and gave us a crap table. After we asked for a better table she told us " No I have reservations on all the tables" and walked away.. Very rude and nasty..

I recently moved into the 11101 zip and I just LOVE it here. Our family left Manhattan last year & we have had a ball visiting all the shops and restaurants in LIC & the crabhouse did not disappoint us at all. It is family friendly with a childrens menu & they give the kids crayons and a placmat to draw on (let the hostess know if you need a hichair since they are limited & putting a stroller in busy isle is not smart !! fyi). My husband had oysters and clams for a starter and they were seriously fresh, my sister started off with spicy shrimp and that to was great as well as scooping up the sauce with garlic bread ! for dinner i had cut up lobster in black bean sauce...if i was not in public i would have licked the plate ! my husband had the sirloin and said it was like butta' & my sis had king crab legs that were huge and the most delicious thing i have tasted. & my brother in law had the Garlic crabs, that to was fresh with a great buttery sauce. We had a pitcher of Sangira, ok we had 2 but we were walking. Last week my husband and I got out w/o the kids and we sat outside ( first come first serve outside) had a bottle of wine, oysters, clams and king crab legs it was so relaxing !!! cant wait to go back.
friendly staff, fresh seafood, tender steaks all at fair prices. Note: this place gets busy on the weekends so make a reservation or just relax at the bar, have a drink and wait for your table or just eat at the bar ! either way put this one on your "go-to" list for the summer.

Before trying the Waterfront Crabhouse I read the reviews here. Very mixed but the bad ones seemed to be from 2006 and I've heard good things about the place...so I tried it! Went there for Xmas eve with about 20 family members including kids! WHAT A GREAT PLACE! Everyone truly enjoyed their dinner and raved about the food, the service was perfect, the staff was very accomodating to all of the kids AND SANTA WAS THERE! They gave all of the kids gifts! We took pictures! It was wonderful! Went back for Valentines Day...again the food was great! I had Shrimp FraDiavlo (not on menu but recomended by waiter) that was out of this world!!!! We're going back to Easter...I hear the Easter Bunny will be there!

I love this place!

Listen, I'm one of those guys that often eats himself out of house and home. I just like everyone else likes to hit the town and eat 'till I can't stand straight. Problem is I can't afford to do that as often as I'd like to; and partly because it's difficult going out with our young boy at times.

But here's a couple of secrets for you:
Your'e not gonna break the bank eating here and the food is pretty good and the place is pretty laid back.

Chicken parm in a crabhouse? Hell yeah, it's the size of the plate for god sakes.
The size of the prime rib is ridiculous, try ordering that cut in Manhattan and not have to take out a loan to eat it.
Their mushroom dumplings are slammin', and the burgers are huge!!!
My favs are the king crab legs and the cajun peel 'em shrimp.
Dig the place because the place is casual, and my son likes to grab the peanuts from the tub in the front; the hostess gives him crayons and butcher paper to keep him occupied long enough for my wife and I to order an appetizer or two in relative peace.
Every time I go there I find myself looking at the different antiques signs or staring at all boxing gloves that adorn the the walls. There's some cool boxing history in there. All in all a good place for a casual dinner.

I have been going to the Waterfront Crabhouse for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. I love the live music on the weekends, love the atmosphere, and love the martinis. I have tried almost everything on the menu. My favorites are definitely the King Crab Legs, the Shrimp Cocktail (best shrimp I ever had), the shrimp dumplings, and the great cheese burgers!!! Yes they do serve my favorite cheese burger!!! I have recommended the Waterfront Crabhouse to many people, which they have all enjoyed. So go experience the "Waterfront Crabhouse experience" and come back here and write your review. I am sure you would agree.

My family and I have been regulars at this restaurant for over 20 years. Located in Long Island City's Industrial Park, stepping into this restuarant is like walking into a museum with all the antiques and memorabilia. While your eyes feast on art everywhere you look, you enjoy a feast of food as the portions are hearty. Along with a wide variety of crabs, King Crabs, Blue Claws prepared with garlic and herbs, and, seasonaly, soft shell and stone crabs, you can get the best prime rib in town. The hamburger is quintessential and the best deal if you're low on funds. On the weekends they have music which tops off their uniqueness. There is no restaurant like it.

found this place by accident with my husband. Hung at the bar (if you like boxing this is the place ) and had a really nice time! My husband had the biggest Prim Rib I have ever seen and i had a really good burger !! We were going to have a pitcher of beer but the bartender suggested Sangria..huumm on a cold Sunday..but it was well worth it and we drank the whole pitcher (we were walking). nice relaxing, family feel & we will going back for super bowl sunday.

The decor and area is excellent for a nice night out because it is right by the boardwalk and you get a beautiful view of Manhattan. The decor of the restaurant is really cool, memorabilia all over the walls unfortunately that is where it all ends.
Made a reservation and the hostess tells a few minutes which winds up being 30 minutes. What was the point of the reservation? The waiter's are in a rush so when they do come with food they kind of just throw the plate on your table, even dropping the plate on a lady at another table.
The entree took about 25 minutes to come and the rude waiter was not helpful in explaining the dishes to us. Overall all of this doesn't bother me just as long as the food is delicious.
I order a platter that had a lobster meat the size of an ice cube, salmon steak a little bigger than the lobster and 4 pieces of shrimp that were cut in half to give the appearance of 8 pieces. On top of that my date had undercooked pasta with ragu sauce. The food is expensive and certainly not worth it, I would stick with Red Lobster!!

Eating at the WCH was a horrific experience. First off, since we were a party of 10 and because the service was included in the bill, it was abominable. Why? Well, it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come by and take our drink order, then another 10 minutes to bring our drinks, and then another 1520 minutes to take our dinner order, and when he finally did he was unpleasant. He huffed and puffed when asked what the side dishes were and when asked to repeat himself, he grimaced as if it pained him to open his mouth.
For the appetizer we ordered the calamari and it was really gross. It was chewy and flavorless and it tasted like a shoe. In-between the first course and the main course our waiter did not come by once to ask us how we were doing or to refill our drinks. So 20 minutes later, our main courses came and they were EXTREMELY unsatisfying. The surf n turf that my girlfriend ordered was an unsightly scene. The lobsters were paltry in size (about the size of a medium sized shrimp) and had absolutely no flavor, they could have been frozen for years for all I know, and the filet mignon was totally flavorless. The crab cakes were a better lot but not by much. My sisters $50 dollar lobster tail looked much healthier but when nibbled on; it too was bland and gummy. Come to think of it, everyone thought their food was just bad. The side dishes were just as bad. Mostly everyone at the table ordered the fried zucchini, which came with a splattered on marinara sauce and had no flavor other than grease. I ordered the onion rings which I was told were freshly battered and prepared, but which came out burnt and seemed more akin to those one would get a White Castle. Uggg!
So the bill came to $340 which is quite cheap for 10 people. We would have had a better dining experience at McDonalds! How can a restaurant serve such bad food?
It was the most UNPLEASANT restaurant experience I have ever had. Please, stay away!

I'm a local, and love coming to this place for some soft shell crabs with garlic butter sauce and old bay seasoning (on the side). While you wait for the crabs, there's a bath full of peanuts which keep you somewhat entertained and hunger at bay as you smell all the delicious food that people are being served.
Once the crabs arrived, it sure took time to plow through the oh so reasonably priced and oversized portion, but well worth the effort and the service was great! Don't forget to dip the herb crusted bread sticks that they give you in the seasoning - yum!
The easiest way to get there if you're coming from Manhattan is to take the Water Taxi from 34th Street, just a few steps away from the Crabhouse! Or if you have a good sense of direction, the 7 train is pretty close too.
Makes a great day out as once you're finished dining on crabs what better way to spend the rest of the afternoon/evening than having a few beers at the Water Taxi Beach - a totally hidden treasure!

Unlike the poor experience of a previous reviewer, my experience was exceptional. I didn't have reservation, so the wait was an hour for six of us, but it was well worth the wait. The blue claw maryland style crabs were fresh and delicious!! I asked the server if they ever run out of crabs and she expained that they come in fresh daily becasue they don't like to order too many so they are always fresh and that was why they sometimes run out quickly!!!The service was friendly and funny and the music was an entertaining jazzy blues band!! The hostess suggested to us making reservations on the weekend as it gets very crowded and the wait can be up to 2 hours without one. I'll know better for next time!
As if the delicious crabs weren't enough, the waterfront "crabhouse" serves the best prime rib i ever tasted!!! It was double-cut (about 2inches thick) and melted in my mouth. My friends and I each had assorted meat and seafood entrees, none of which were disappointing.
They have a variety of desserts from apple cobbler to chocolate mousse but i would suggest the "chaos" cake, a layer of chocolate brownie, a layer of cheesecake and topped with chocolate mousse. What a way to end a meal!!
The drinks at the restaurant were the cheapest around. Glasses of wine were around $5.00, mixed drinks around the same, and my cosmo was around $6.00. No bar around the area has been serving drinks that cheap for years!!!
If you're looking for a hoity toity place to eat - this isn't the place for you! But if you want a fun easy going staff with reasonable prices and the most unique decor ever, then try it out! It's well worth the trip!

As mentioned by a previous reviewer, this "crab house" seems to specialize in not having crabs. From an order of 2 crab entrees, our table received a total of ZERO. To make matters worse, we weren't notified about the lack of crabs until ~1 hour after we ordered. So, one person at our table was left without any entree to speak of while 4 others had their non-crab entrees served. To make up for this grievous and uncomfortable error, the bumbling co-manager tried to assuage us by offering some free drinks or desserts, none of which we wanted. Then she inexplicably had a mental breakdown of sorts while she proceeded to blame the cook, the owner, and the holy spirit for all the troubles related to our crab mix-up. I kept looking around for a hidden camera because I thought her dramatic display was for candid camera or some audition for Days of Our Lives.

If the other non-crab entrees were spectacular, then I might forgive the poor service and incompetent managerial staff...but alas, the entrees that succesfully made it to our table were sub-par at best. I cannot recommend anything positive about this restaurant, except that it IS near the waterfront so a suicidal jump into the water (after a frustrating dinner) only requires a very short walk...

Went with my ladyfriend last night, and we both had a great time. Full carafe of house white was delicious and cheap ($12). Loved the Maryland-style blue crabs! The price for sharing mussels to start, wine, two orders of crabs, and cheesecake and coffee was under $90. As for ambience, the place has a lot of Queens and boxing memorabilia and has a generally good feel to it. Also, there was music to aid the digestion; they had a guy singing Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, and Barry White tunes.

I was very impressed with the food and the people are great. This is a great place to spend a weekend afternoon. I liked this place so much the first time, the short trip across this river is totally worth it. We venture back nearly every week - a great change from the Manhattan scene!

The king crab legs are excellent! A very good value. There was a man singing and playing the keyboard who was very good. A few couples even got up for a dance, which made it a fun atmosphere. The fried calamari is very tender and fresh.

The drink prices are the most reasonable in town! They even have house wine by the carafe for $12!!

Finally had a chance to eat at the historical crabhouse. But guess what??? they had no crabs. So, we eat fried fish, hamburgers and steak. All below average. Many locals, who have been there since the 1800's , drink at the bar. They have alot of memorobilia from a long time ago. I guess the food was good back then.

The Waterfront Crabhouse has been an establishment hidden in Queens for over 27 years.
If you love seafood, then you will love this place. The decor is full of celebrity autographs as well as sports memorablia. They have an upstairs catering hall for throwing awesome parties (buffet or sit -down dinners). If you are looking for frills then this is not your place. But if you are interested in a nice good meal then I suggest you give the Crabhouse a try.
