Sarah's Patisserie

The best bakery/chocolate shop in upstate New York! The negative review below regarding service is very unfair. The Chef works alone, creating all those delicious goodies, and can hardly be expected to stop working every time a customer wants some personal attention. The staff has always been very polite and attentive to me when I am there. Very child-friendly for such a classy place -- the owners have small children -- and the highest quality food available.

On a recent trip to Paris, we intended to compare, and Sarah's indeed measures up. Amazing desserts that also happen to be astounding works of art. Chocolates that will make you tremble. Get here on a Saturday morning for the brioche, croissants and cinnamon rolls, the lovely delicate cookies. We bring all our guests here, and we always give a tart or cake as a gift when we are guests.
The ambiance inside the Patisserie makes you want to linger. When it's chilly outside, you can't miss the authentic French hot chocolate. Once, after I had ordered, as I sat enjoying my treats, a French couple came in and chatted awhile with the girl behind the counter--in French. I was transported. The staff has always been patient and very helpful. Every time I come here, I still can't believe I'm in Ithaca.

At first glance the bakery looks amazing, but soon after the staff is jumping down your throat. When asked for an introduction with the owner we were told that she was tied up at the moment as Tammy Travis casually walked through the establishment and disregarded our request. Not a warm and welcoming place. I will never be back.

Whenever I need a really good cake I head to Sarah's Patisserie. The prices can be on the higher side but the cakes and other desserts are absolutely deliciouses.
