I never knew that sushi could be completely flavorless until I had what this place served. It made grocery store sushi taste like 5 star food. I've had a wide range of sushi - from 5 star places to lower priced joints like this one - and I was shocked at what they served here. Tiny, bland, barely edible sushi. To make matters worse, the service was non-existent. I finally had to get up and physically approach the wait staff in order to get any service. The ambiance instantly struck me as terrible the minute I walked in but figured I'd give this neighborhood place a chance. I regret doing so and will never be back. My boyfriend and I both left half of our plates as we couldn't stomach eating any more of the sushi even though we had walked in starving. My boyfriend - who rarely complains - said he hated the food as much as I did and we left to go to another restaurant for a REAL meal. There is 0 reason for anyone to eat at this establishment - there are at least 3 other places in the East Village that serve 50% off sushi that are a million times better.

I love eating here! The pieces are so big I think the fish might eat me! Yuck! But still delicious. I love sushi and I would walk 100 miles for get it. I would even go here for it. Too bad some people do saki bombs here. They drink too much.

It's extremely cheap for a sushi restaurant. But suprisingly the sushi is very good. Weird, but I recommend this for those "SUSHI CRAVERS" who font want spend too much. Overall, cheap and good Sushi. A must-try.

The sushi here is at a really good price, 50% off!! The sushi always tastes fresh, which is extremely important, and the waitstaff is always friendly and accommodating. I don't have any complaints about this restaurant, I've always had a great experience here.

yes, this place is cheap , and i have never gotten sick from the sushi. -- but this place is not clean in my opinion-- and the couple that run the place are a bit mean, and dont care about the quality or service here.
If you are dying for sushi , and dont want to spend money - this is the place for you.

This is pretty much the only place I go to for sushi. The close proximity to my house might have something to do with it, but either way this is my sushi place. The manager guy is always really nice (he knows us so well, he can tell who we are over the phone when we place an order for pick up) as is most of the staff. I have never had any complaints about the quality of the sushi. The prices are amazing and the selection is large. The service can sometimes be slow, but typically we do not have any problems. My only complaint is that they usually have horrible Pop music playing (Britney, NSync) which is NOT what I want to listen to when I'm in a Japanese restaurant, or honestly anywhere else for that matter. Maybe I don't know sushi as much as others, but for Valentines day we went to Hasaki for a $50 sushi plate for 2, and I would have rather spent $10 a piece at Oyamas. I've come here at LEAST once a week for the past 3 years. For the price, location and quality, I have not found a better deal.

This place is just like any other corner sushi restaurant in new york. Good tasting sushi at great prices. It's really sooo cheap. The service is soooo slooowww and the woman is mean and acts like we're bothering her by coming to her restaurant. But I can't help going back because its so cheap and so close. They have that 50% off deal that makes everything worth it. Must try the bagel roll!

Pros: 50% off price. Fresh sushi. BAGEL ROLL!

Cons: terribly slow service.

The restaurant looked Ok from the outside and nothing really stands out. The waiter was super courteous and the food was average. However, they do have the 50% off sushi special, so take advantage of that.

This place is great for satisfying those late night sushi cravings when the thousands of other Japanese restaurants are closed. The sushi pieces are huge, each piece eats like 2. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed.

I eat here at least a few times a week. If you are hungry, don't have a lot of cash, but still wanna eat well, then do to OYAMA. Really. The nicest people work there too.

Pros: food is yum!, quick and cheap!, well packaged!

As another East Village half-price sushi joint goes ("Sushi Park" being the other one), this one is mediocre. Even though their cut of sushi is by far very generous, the quality is a hit or miss. I would stick with either the rolls (Champion roll is top notch) or the salmon sushi. The service can be stretched pretty thin once the place gets crowded since there's only 2 waiters working there so don't expect immediate attention once the place fills up.
