We purchased our 2002 built JMG home in 2008. We enjoy the raised ranch and are pleased with everything from layout to fixtures and finishes. I have been in the construction industry for over twenty years and believe that I have occupationally acquired a keener eye when it comes to inspection and detail. Overall, I am satisfied with our home purchase. There are, however, a few significant inadequacies with the home. Firstly, there are two visible, full height, cracks (daylighted) in the foundation; not to the point of structural detriment. Also, the anchors which secure the stud walls to the foundation have been cut; a practice of which I have never seen nor do I comprehend any practical reasoning for. In fact, it defeats the purpose of installing the anchors. Furthermore, I would suggest that the builder use a better tread design for the stringers to the second story deck. In doors, I suggest not using a floor laminate with a square tile pattern to it. This pattern assists in punctuating the imperfections in the wall layouts as some are not truly square. Lastly, with regard to finishes, I noticed some corners where the tape was not flushed well and also some porous (unfinished) mud spots. This can occur due to poor lighting during construction or oversight due to project time constraints. I will summarize by reiterating our overall satisfaction with this home and would recommend this builder.
