Crunch is HORRIBLE!!! The gym has consistently gone downhill. As soon as you find a great spin teacher they leave the gym. There is nothing new and exciting about their classes. The staff is rude unless they are on the hard sell. The worst part about this gym is the manager and the customer service. Good luck finding anyone that will return a call or help you with anything. I would NEVER recommend joining this gym. A rip-off for the money they charge!

If there were zero stars available that is what I would give this gym. The place is dark, dreary, and VERY overcrowed. i was there Tuesday after work and couldn't even get on a treadmill. What is that all about.? I have seen RAVE reviews of other locations. I think that those of us stuck with memberships in a nasty gym should get a discount on our monthly dues. Also, if Crunch reads this, how about getting a proper scale for the ladies locker room? BTW- I saw the Jan 19th post about no lines is BS. Yet again, I was unable to get a treadmill. Maybe if I was a stay at home mom I could avoid crowds, alas, I am just a poor working stiff.

Spacious, clean and loaded with up-to-date equipment. Not crowded at all, so there is no waiting line.
Only one cons: staff is too pushy when it comes to sales. It makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Dont go here in the morning! There is a guy who uses the one speed ball every day and you cant hear yourself on the walking and other machines. Its very loud, you cant hear others, hard to focus, and probably dangerous.

Compliants in writting have been sent to staff but nothing done.

I did private pilates classes here and it was very good and staff are friendly. Just dont go here if you want to work out in themorning as its not a cool experience at all.

The gym is a total rip-off and has no respect for their customers. They double-charged me for 6 months. I went in and told them the first time I saw it and they looked it up in their system, which showed they were double-charging. But even though I came in multiple times, over the course of 6 months, and presented credit card bills, id's, etc. they kept coming up with different people I had to see or talk to and different items I had to bring in to get them to stop double charging me. Meanwhile, they kept knowingly double charging me the whole time - for 6 months. On top of that, the employees gave me attitude for requesting that they stop double charging me, saying it "wasn't their problem". I finally got the charges reversed and left the gym with a huge sense of relief. When I got my next bill from them it had $230 of charges from them that aren't in my contract. It would be wiser to give your credit card to a homeless person or to mc hammer than to give it to them.

I recently Joined CRUNCH on the upper west side, located on 83rd & Amsterdam Ave. I must say, their quality of equipment, trainers, and the combination of over 70 classes a week were a perfect fit for my needs, My member advisor also mentioned how they recently renovated the location, and it has 4 Group fitness studio's which we can use to stretch and ETC. I have also used thier location with a pool on 42nd street which is right by my job, so its conveniant as well. The best thing about 83rd Street CRUNCH is when I come in during prime time, IT""S NOT CROWDED, ....which i must say is amazing Compared to the hords of people you see @ NYSC from 5-9pm. Overall, I am pleased with my decision to join, factoring in price(I payed no enrollment OR dues this month!), hours (5:30am -11pm), and the relative emptiness for a gym in manhattan. I definitely reccommend this club if you are an UWS Resident.

This is honestly a good vibe and a good energy place to go hang out! Last New Year's my girlfriend thought it was really time for a life style change so she enrolled me at Crunch Fitness. I was feeling really lazy about the whole thing but after a while I realised that was exactly what I needed in my life and now I feel like a different person...the trainers are dedicated and they do motivate and push you harder...well...I even quit smoking recently...I hope I do keep it up...well...I better or else they'll literally kick my ass!

I have been a member of the 83rd St. crunch for almost 5 years, and since they lost half of their gym space recently, the quality of the gym has plummetted. Cardio machines are squished together in high traffic areas. If you want to stretch after your workout - hopefully you enjoy doing this between weight machines without a mat and people stepping over you (I've been relegated to doing this at least 3 times in the past 2 months), or if you are lucky enough to find a spot to stretch, trainers will likely ask you to move, since they take priority to any open spaces. And unless you work out at 2pm or another really off time, don't plan on doing any floor exercises as there is no space any where to do these. Do not join this gym, you will not get your money's worth. The only perk is an updated bathroom/spa area (which does not help me get in shape) and the group exercise rooms have been updated. It is very disappointing as I used to love this gym, but am now looking around for an alternative spot to work out.

Pros: Nice bathrooms. Fun colors.

Cons: No space - crowded machines. TERRIBLE / non-existent stretching area.

This gym is not bad. They have a good amount of equipment and televisions. They also have bikes that have computers with internet hook up so you can check your email while you exercise. That's a little excessive in my opinion AND it's really hard to do. One time I saw Leelee Sobieski working out there.
