Be warned - this restaurant has relocated to
Dryden Road in Ithaca (in Collegetown). I love
Chinese food and this is the only one I think
acceptable. The food is not greasy and tastes
like it should. Favorite dish is General
Tso's Chicken. If you're ordering take-out,
you'll have your order ready in 15-20 minutes.
Very fast kitchen.

Hai Hong best chinese food in ithaca!

Great service, friendly young students, nice lighting, and fine chinese food. Hai hong serves dim sum on the weekends, usually really busy- sometimes food takes a long time but it worth the wait. I visit Hai Hong Restaurant once a week!

Great family, and great food

I just read the slander-filled comment about Hai Hong Restaurant in Ithaca, although it was written a couple of years ago, I wanted to comment. The family that owns Hai Hong in college town is definitely NOT the same as the place downtown. The restaurant is clean, the food delicious, and the family quite reputable. I have known them for years, because I was a server at the State Street location for over five years. I think that when others are posting comments, they should really get their facts in order. Times are hard for businesses, and that sort of negativity is wrong and can interfere with the livelihood of hard-working people.
Go to Hai Hong, they truly have the best Cantonese food in town!

Best Chinese food in Ithaca

I like this place. Sure, the ambiance isn't anything special, but it's certainly about the norm for lower-priced Ithaca eating. The quality of the ingredients used here seems to be a bit higher than other Chinese food eateries in town, and the service has always been friendly and fast. I particularly like the shrimp with bok choy dish.

Don't go to Hai Hong Restaurant in Collegetown!!!

I've only been to the Hai Hong Restaurant in Collegetown, but that one in downtown is owned and run by the same people.
I've got food-poisoned by eating once there and I know several other people have also experienced this. Some people say that they NEVER wash their glasses and possible plates as well. The most terrible thing is that I didn't give any tip when once receiving VERY bad service there (it's the first time I didn't give a tip) and they took extra money from my card as the tip. IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN UNCLEAN FOOD. IT'S ABOUT HONESTY AND RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS.
Watch out! Don't go there.

Mediocre Chinese food and a forgettable experience

The food was mediocre at best and overpriced for the quality. The service was average and the ambiance was poor (they have moved since I ate there so they may have improved the aesthetic). I was thoroughly disappointed and have not gone back.

Food here is excellent. I would especially recommend it for lunch as the prices are a bit lower but the food just as good. Hands down Hai Hong is the best chinese food in Ithaca. Get there and have a great meal!

The food at this restaurant tastes like my dad's cooking growing up. It's delicious and the atmosphere is great. The service is excellent and will I definitely go back many more times.
