We just had our wedding at Baku and came away extremely satisfied. Service was amazing - everyone on staff was accomodating, helpful and attentive. Pricing was fair - no hidden extra charges or last minute surprises. Quality of food was incredible and amount of it was more than sufficient. Had more than enough food for cocktail hour - guests couldn't finish even half of what was on the tables. Decor was great as well. Music was spectacular - everyone loved the band and the dancers. Highly recommend this place to everyone - we will certainly be back again.

Cons: a bit tight on outdoor space for a very large party.

We had a party there recently, HUGE MISTAKE!!!! For $90 per person you don't get much food at all. I was so embarassed that there was only one of each salad for 12 people. I felt like some people left hungry. The waiter brought "kutabi" with meat and greens and when one of my guest asked for one of each, the waiter said that it's one per person. We are paying $90 per person!!!!!!!!! And then on top of it, when the bill came the 10% service chanrge was already added, so we added and extra 5%, the head waiter came anb said that it's not enough of tips, since the 10% represents 8.5% tax + 1.5% tips. Have you ever heard anything like this?????? What are cheaters.... Whatever you do, don't go to this restaurant!!!! I am embarassed that this restaurant is called "Baku", because people from Baku are very generouse and wonderful hosts.

This was not a good dining experience. The food was cold and my husbands food was burned. I would of sent everything back, but my husband doesnt believe in complaining with those who prepare your food. We told the waiter that the food was not to our satisfaction and they did not opt the meals at all , nor did they offer to exchange for something else (not that my husband would of allowed that). To add insult to injury the bill was pricey. I will not be returning here.

Baku Palace is a great place to go whether you're looking to have a wedding, catch up with friends on Thursday night or have a party on a Saturday night. I had my wedding at Baku Palace on August 1, 09. I just want to say big thank you to Elidar (manager) of Baku palace for organizing everything. Everything and everyone was super delicious, friendly and simply organized. Now that my wedding is over I just love going there for a nice dinner whether it's to catch up with friends or have a romantic dinner with my hubby. Excellent food hands down!

We celebrated my wedding on August 22 in Baku. It was amazing and I am very thankful to Eldar (the manager) and all the staff. At the beginning, when we booked it, Eldar told me and my parents not to worry about anything and that he would take care of everything - and he did. He told us all the prices up front, we had to book to cover the cost of the minimum number of heads for the second floor hall (200 - this is their normal policy) and ended up having only about 130. To make up for it, Eldar volunteered to add alot more food and very good alcohol. We also booked a small hall downstairs for the ceremony which was extra - but again everything was communicated up front. He even gave us the option of hosting everything upstairs and walked us through how it would all happen, but I wanted to change it up. I had a mixed wedding of Russians and Americans. Everyone loved it and everyone is still raving about it and the great time they had!!! The food was absolutely delicious (I did not eat much since this was my wedding and obviously hectic but this is what I hear from everyone who attended), the music was wonderful (Ilya - the band leader went out of his way for my wedding and also worked with me to get music for my ceremony that I picked) and waiters were good. The wedding party arrived early after taking pictures and we had some time before the ceremony - Eldar ensured a separate table was prepared for us to eat before the ceremony started (at no extra cost - none was even mentioned). He also helped coordinate between the MC, Rabbi, flower people....ensured that everything went off without a problem. My family is extremely happy with his service and the restaurant. I did read some of the more negative comments below and am a bit surprised but this review is only a reflection of the service that was provided to me on the day of my wedding and prior to during the planning process. I would not hesitate to host another party at the restaurant and look forward to going to other parties there in the future.

A great place to have a dinner with friends and family on the main floor and great for talking on the first floor. To the person below me, I am pretty sure you added things on which escalated the price. The place is very pricey, but its worth it in the long run. And I don't understand how you may think that they don't pay taxes, thats impossible. Music is only loud because it is a night club and if you have a private party you can hire your own band.

Amazing is the only word that could describe this place, starting from the food, the service, and music up till the beautiful atmosphere. In the summer they have two balconies that have the most gorgeous view of sheepshead bay. I've hosted 2 parties and several birthdays here, and am throwing another party there soon. No other place is comparable.

Don't be fooled by the location and aesthetics of this restaurant. I had a horrible experience at Baku Palace. The head waiter and service was extremely rude and slow. They over charged the bill and lied about the prices on the dishes. The food was bad. I had to run to the restroom several times after eatting there. The music was loud. They have selective service. They are very disrespectful towards females and people that are not from the same backround. They ignored my table. I had to ask for the bill twice and it took 20 mins for the bill to come. I had the worst experience there and I will NEVER go there again.

-Very rude service
-Loud music
-They lie about prices and don't pay taxes
I was looking for a venue for my wedding and this place was recommended to me for its food and music. Also, we were told to watch out because sometimes they ADD CHARGES TO YOUR BILL AFTER THE WEDDING and SAY THAT YOUR GUESTS ORDERED it. Still, we went there to discuss pricing- to close down the place for a wedding of 50 we would have to pay ~$11.5K. They said we DON'T HAVE TO PAY TAXES (?!) - I guess they didn't want to show their revenues. At that point I probably had to leave- u can tell they're not honest, but I was tired of looking for a place and decided to book it. Before booking it we wanted to try food and listen to the Music was ok, food was an average... When we came to the guy who told us the price (his name is Eldar) and said we would like to sign a contract he TOLD US A DIFFERENT PRICE-$15,000! I was shocked and showed him the estimate hi put together (he wrote it himself) a week before but he said we probably didn't understand! So he LIED looking right in our faces. I'm really shocked how DISHONEST they were. I would never go there, you never know what they will right on your bill at the end of the night...

I would strongly not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Food is below average, music is too loud, staff is poorly trained and rude. More than that they have annoying tendency to cheat their clients and it should not come to a surprise if you receive the bill with astronomical number written on it. Once my husband and I received the bill that supposed we have to pay 50$ for one teapot of regular black tea and with two desserts (which by the way were lousy) we ended up spending 90$. Recently we were invited to the official reception, which was held in that restaurant. We stayed through the official part of celebration and had to leave urgently. The doorman, who collected our coats demanded the fee of 2$ per each coat . We did not carry any cash that night, only credit cards and a check book. After informing the doorman that unfortunatly we don't have cash money and that we have never been charged for our own coats before (sometimes tiped, but it was not obligatory) the doorman went insane and started screaming at us and calling us offensive names. That night we had the most disgusting experience in our lives.
My advice to all ! Do not allow them to fool and rob you! If you'd like to spend your time with class, go to Persian or Turkish restaurant. Over there you'll be treated with class and respect, have better food and pay a fair price.

To start, Baku is perfectly located - overlooking Sheepshead Bay. They weren't exagerating when they called it "Baku Palace", because the place is huge, having the potential to accomodate weddings, bar mitzvas or any other large parties while still serving other guests who prefer to dine outside the main room.

Their menu is thick, rivaling some of the local diners, however that's where the similarities end. However, regardless of what you might order, the dish will be savory and perfectly prepared. There's a deffinate Persian/Medditaranean inclination in the dish offering, however, they serve French and Continetal food as well. If forced to classify their fare would be placed in the Ecclectical-Fusion category (if such even exists). But who cares about labels - their food is great, the srvice is friendly and attentive (although a few english lessons would serve them well) and the ambiance is second to none.

Baku is a great restaurant but can only be enjoyed by those who have a liking for those kinds of dishes. Their shishkibab is the best and the dancers are awesome. As this restaurant is a favorite (in Brooklyn) of my ethnicity, I enjoy dancing with my family and they are very friendly. The waiters are proffesional and attentive, and I recommend this restaurant. They speak Russian! ( by the way) But, if you prefer something different, nearby restaurant XO serves the best crepes-ever- and Passage has magnificant fine dining and music.

we were recently in baku to celebrate mom's birthday. great selection on the menu. cubed liver is moist and tasty, for main dish go with lamb chops they were very juicy and well prepared. for desert you must try their own tea that comes served for the whole table with side of different jams and have baku's blintzes, made right in front of you with ice cream and fresh fruit. the ambiance is great. we sat on the second floor balcony with a breeze coming from the canal. for those who got chilly the restaurant provided blankets.
listen to the suggestions of the waiters they are very attentive and will tell you what is recommended (they were right on the money). full dinner with drinks and appetizers and desert will run you about $50 per person and it is definitely worth it.

I came here with a large group. The staff was extremely accommodating in meeting our needs. The service was excellent. I thought the food was very good, though others thought that the nearby Armenian place is better, for half the price. The atmosphere is wonderful. The music is very pleasant. The food has some traditional Azerbaijani dishes, as well as some French food, such as frog legs and escargot. I will definitely come here again.

Most of the time the food is great, but atmosphere and service made up that one time when the food was not as good as usually. And we got complimentary champagne that day. Actually, everyone in the restaurant did.

I recommend making reservations for the main room (on the second floor). Try to get there between 9 and 10 and stay till closing (at least 2 am). The table is yours for the night, there is no second seating. You can go on the dance floor (live band every Fri, Sat and Sun) and return an hour later your own table. Don't be afraid to order a Banquet dinner. Everything will be served family style and you'll try very many interesting dishes.
