After reading how great the pizza was in Metroland all these years, I decided to finally try the place out. The establishmant itself seems like a nice, friendly place. Frankly though, I found the pizza pretty unremarkable. Realizing that rating food, especially pizza, can be a subjective thing, all I can say is that the product to me was bland. The crust was thick, dry and crunchy, and lacking any real flavor, the cheese was heavy, and tended to all come off in one bite, and it was quite saucy. Some, apparently many, like pizza like that, which is fine. I just couldn't understand what all the hoopla was about. If you live closer to Albany, there are about 100 places to go to for decent pie. If you do decide to go to Smith's, be sure to bring cash, since they do not accept charge cards. Go figure.

I drove from California, dreaming of the delicious pizza I use to get at Smitty's, when I lived in V'ville. I have to admit I was very disappointed. The dough tasted like like a big old pie crust.

The Fountain's pizza, in Albany, beats them by 3000+ miles.

We don't live in Voorheesville but over the past several years we kept hearing how great the pizza was at Smith's. Well they were right. And perhaps the most "family friendly" place I've ever been. if you live anywhere near Albany...check Smith's out!!

This small town restaurant and bar offers fabulous pizza, Sierra Nevada beer on tap, and a fun atmosphere for reuniting with old friends or meeting new ones (if there happens to be anyone you don't already know in this Village!) I highly recommend stopping by!

Smith's is what it is. My usual trip is with kids - for whom there's no better a place. But I've seen Goths and bikers and the fashionable set there, too; they fit in. I see no reason for Smith's to try 'exoctic' toppings on their pizza, but they do, and some swear by the odder ones and the chance to try something different. To my way of thinking it's catering to the type of snots who wrote earlier reviews, and who needs them. V'ville ain't Naples, the crust's kinship to bread is perceptible and the sauce is more hearty than exotic, so it's not going to be at the top of some lists - but it will be at the top of others, and anyone who had a downright unhappy experience there probably generally has unhappy experiences.

Pros: parking, friendly staff, good food

Cons: no privacy, sometimes noisy

I grew up there, my father and my uncles got there education there. I now live in NC. Believe me, nothing down here compares. It's the best. Others in the area are real good, but not as good. I'll be home soon after the new year, just to go there and get the best pizza in the capital region. Miis the trains

Overpriced. Their "Large" pizza is the size of a "Medium". They don't serve a real "Large" size. Totally unremarkable taste. Sauce too acrid. We bought there ONCE, but we'll never buy pizza there again. Basically we got a sour pie, and small portions too, and it was WAY too expensive.
