They had a program whereby if a customer purchased $300 of merchandise by November 26 she would be entitled to a discount on her next purchase. When my spouse made an over the top purchase before the cutoff date she was told that the program was over.

Key Food has stepped it up recently by adding a surprisingly decent beer section, as well as an increased selection of organic products. It finally seems like it's catching up to the demands of the neighborhood residents. It's not a very big space compared to most grocery stores, but it seems like someone has taken charge and decided to use some of the space to sell products that people might otherwise go elsewhere for after doing their regular grocery shopping at Key Food.

Key Food is one of the regular priced stores in Park Slope. Unlike Gristedes, the store does not overcharge. They have a great deli department and a good selection of foods throughout the store. I would rather shop here than in overpriced shops any day.

PROS: good store
CONS: none

The Key Food on 7th Avenue has never been very good. It's much smaller than the one on 5th and has never had enough room to have a good selection of stuff. The produce is often sub-par--I recommend going down the block to Back to the Land to pick up your fruits and veggies. However, Key Food has made an effort recently to carry an expanded selection of organic and vegetarian foods, and the amount of these items compared to the amount of room in the store is pretty impressive.

I don't know what's brewing as you step in the front door, but it's a bad, bad smell. The rest of the store isn't much either. The produce is a bit old. The meat doesn't look much fresher. The groceries are cheap, though, far cheaper than anywhere else in the neighborhood.
