I have to agree with the other reviewers--Erawan is by far the best Thai, if not THE BEST restaurant around! They are accommodating to taste and hotness and the food is to die for! You can't go wrong here, whether it be for lunch or dinner. Yum!

I like Thai food - and I was told it was authentic. Well, maybe I wasn't ready for what I ate - I was not impressed. The duck in a coconut smelled like urine - nasty. The other food was very tasty and was presented well, but the experience wasn't there. Maybe there could be some paint on the walls, or dimmer lighting or the bar could be moved ... something need to be changed to make it more apealing. I went back for a second chance and was more disappointed the second time. Sorry - I don't see it as a place that people have to try.

Pros: The service was good

Cons: too bright, maybe too authentic and try painting

I am new in this area and was craving for Thai food. I went to this place after reading the reviews below.

I am so DISAPPOINTED and I just could not beleive HOW COULD THIS PLACE GOT GOOD REVIEWS???????????????????????

The taste of the food is beyond just bad. I could not fish 1/3 of my meal. The shrip cake teast like pork, the rice noddle is over cooked, clustered together in chunks and it teasted like leftovers...........

Would not recommend this place to anybody I know!

Oh how I miss this place. While attending SU, I went to this place almost every week (to eat there and to pick up the food) since found out the place.
The atmosphere is not that great but who cares when the food is soooooo good. The staff are always friendly. The place can be very busy on weekends. Food is awesome. Be aware, don't order stuff extra spicy. I am Korean and used to spicy red peppers, but not at this restaurant. Medium to spciy would do me fine. After graduation, I moved back to Philadelphia where food is superb, except I still have not found any Thai place as half good as Erawan. My favorite is yumtum soup, fried fish with yummy sauce, and ground chicken (wish I?d remember the menu #?s). One time, while visiting Rochester, I took a detour to this place for dinner. And y husband also agrees with me that it's one of the best Thai food he ever had.
I think this is my favorite restaurant in the world.

Thai food can be tricky, and it can vary from place to place so never assume it'll taste the way you think. I love the food at erawan and haven't found another restaurant that compares. The food is great and simple. I never feel sick like I do at some other places. Ask the server for a recomendation if you're not sure what to order. I like
#41 , med. spicey. and don't forget to try the tapioca pudding with little corn bits. good luck

Amazingly good, authentic Thai food, very modest prices, far the best in the city. Ambience very modest, is all.

This place has to be one of the best around. The selection of food is great. They will satisfy everyone from your picky little one to your avid carnivore husband to the vegetarian/vegan in your family. If you're not a fan of spicey food, they'll make sure your food is just right for you. Ingredients are always fresh. Service is just right here, they're not at your table every 5 minutes bugging you while you're eating, but they always make sure your glass is full. This moderately sized resteraunt is always teeming with people. That's gotta say something great about this place!

PROS: Great food selection, something for everyone
CONS:

This restaurant is not recommended. I truly enjoy Thai food, and am very familiar with this type of cuisine. My meal was awful - something was certainly wrong with it. The server did not return at all to check on how we were enjoying the meal. At the end of the meal when I spoke with a server, she called the who would not 1) taste it (although it had not been touched other than my one bite) or 2) take it off of the bill because "I shouldn't have ordered it."

As far as Thai food is concerned, the Erawan has no equal in Syracuse. This family owned establishment has been wowing visitors with the best in Thai cuisine for years, and continues to maintain the highest of standards in food and service.

Visiting the Erawan is always a treat. The dining room is wide open and after a few visits, it begins to feel like home. Don't let the vast selection confound you... ask for suggestions and take a chance. The peanut sauce at the Erawan is "to die for" and their hot dishes do not disappoint.

There is a reason that the Erawan keeps getting voted the best Thai restaurant year after year. It really is the best of its kind.

The food at Erawan is delcious and was worth the wait on the busy night we went. The atmophere leaves something to be desired, but really, the food is more important and truly takes center stage here.
