Pros: If you want your hair done right, go there!!!!!

Cons: Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, professional stlylists

It was great experience!! I was walk-in customer... The friendly faces at the front desk told me that Mario will be with me... He started my session with great consultation then he gave me the best color and cut I have ever had in my life! The best part about it all - the staff all seem to love what they do!

The worst haircut ever (by Mario on Madison Ave). Unpleasant atmosphere to boot. Let`s put this place out of business! Does not deserve the one star I have to give it to have my review published.

Pros: NONE

Cons: The "stlylist" does not have a clue about hair styling

Went in for a haircut - and was highly dissapointed. There was hair all over the floor I had to sweep away a section with my shoe in order to find a place to set my handbag down. The haricut was not what I had asked for (just wanted a trim - not layers all thoughout my hair). I was overcharged by $10 (the price is clearly stated) and was yelled at by the receptionist when I asked for an envelope so I could leave a tip.

I do not recommend this place - and will never be going back.

I went to the one at Columbus (UWS). I stopped by to get a simple trim to my ends. They have a sign on the door with the prices that says "walks in welcome"..Well guess what..They are not!
I got in... and there was a man sitting in a chair close to the door who gave me a horrible look and without asking me if I needed something just kept staring at me. I smiled and asked him if somebody was available, he asked me to sit down and did nothing! Then the receptionist who wasn't there when I came in, came back and knowing that I was RIGHT THERE asked this guy With a nasty expression in her face..."who is that"? ...The guy just replied, a walk in!...and kept reading a magazine.....

She look at me, didn?t say anything...then I again said: is it possible to get a haircut? She said..What? I can?t hear you! ....I stood up, walked to the reception desk and asked again...
She was very disappointed for some reason...I was about to leave when she said...only a hair cut? I said: yeah...then she asked this woman next to her and she replied she had to leave soon, it was about 5 pm..
Then she asked another one and she finally said yes.
The girl who ended up cutting my hair was very nice, her name is Marjorie, and she did a good job and apologized for the rudeness of the other people.
I won?t go back to this place again, they made feel very uncomfortable, and it?s not worth it. If I go to a place I expect respect and good service, the receptionist was rude again when I went back to her desk to pay.
I will say please don't go there!!!!

Ladies, if you feel your hair is a part of your sexuality.... please do not go here... it was the absolute WORST haircut I ever received in my life. I asked for a triM with a little body, and was butchered. i NOW HAVE A MULLET, AND HAVE TO probably WAIT ALMOST A YEAR FOR IT TO GROW BACK... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE FOR A HAIRCUT. I am talking about the one near bloomingdales. I called to complain and the manager never got back to me...

Absolutely horrible. I needed a quick trim for my bangs, this "salon" was the only thing open at the time. I thought "what the heck, bangs aren't hard"...boy was I wrong. Luis didn't have any idea what he was doing. They cam out way too short and all sorts of uneven. My friends and I joked after the initial shock that it was a "bad chili bowl".

Don't bother.

Pros: Pretty decor

Cons: Are these people even licensed?

I understand the misunderstanding here, the name is half French and they refer to themselves as a spa and salon. I think when you approach Amour de Hair, you'll appreciate it for what it is, it's an inexpensive place to get a hair cut. If you are expecting a diamond in the rough that offers $100 haircuts for $26, you are going to leave disappointed. Ladies, I probably would not trust them to dye your hair or any other treatment where you essentially get what you pay for. Guys, I think this is a great spot between the clippers at the barber shop and the $50 - $100 haircuts that no one will truly appreciate. 'Nuff said. . .

I went in against my better judgement however I wanted something easy (cover my blond highlights with my natural light brown color) and thought I would give it a try. I left the salon with black hair and it cost me $65. After they washed the color and I saw my hair I did not even give them a chance to fix it, I cancled my cut and left. I'm now going to have to spend close to $300 at Yann Varin to have the color stripped and redone. To top if off the salon is loud and hard to move around in. Just not worth it at all, spend the money on a good salon.

this salon needs to close. i'm SURE those last 2 reviews were planted. my sister just came from the salon today after a horrible coloring job-she went in with strawberry blond hair and came out with, i kid you not, GREY highlights. she is twenty-one years old. i don't know if they left the toner on too long, or what, but obviously this is NOT the look she was going for and we will go elsewhere to have it redone.

that makes me, my mother and my sister who have had our hair butchered at this one place. all by different stylists. it's not even cheap. save your hair, save your money and do NOT go.

I went to Amour de Hair on the UES (on Lex) last week and as a previous reviewer stated, they had tried to push a deep conditioner which I did not want. A haircut costs $26 and if I wanted it blown out it would have been $65, so I opted against it since I just really wanted a trim and that's all. Once the "stylist" realized I was only getting a trim, he decided to take a ten minute break in the middle of my haircut and didn't apologize nor did he give me a reason why when he came back!!! Then, as he was combing my hair he kept push the comb into my scalp and pulling the comb down over my ears over and over again, NEVER APOLOGIZING!!! I felt as if I was being "punished" because I wouldn't do what he said. It was the worst experience I ever had at a salon. Some may say you get what you pay for, but for someone to actually push a comb into your scalp is just unreasonable. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

I went to the Columbus Ave location for a haircut. I have long, wavy hair and asked for a trim and some layering. Very simple. The entire time I was in the chair the stylist was trying to push me on some deep moisture treatment and dye job. She kept coming back to the dye job throughout the cut until I started to feel self-conscious. Then, when it was clear I didn't want anything but a cut, she stopped talking to me and sped through the job, lopping off six inches. While she was cutting I had to remind her about the layers. It looks awful and I've had it in a ponytail for weeks. I should have known there was a problem when I was one of only a couple of people in there on a weeknight. When I told my ex the story he reminded me that he had also gotten a terrible cut from them.

Admittedly I had tried to trim my bangs myself and ended up at Amour de Hair to have a professional soften up and layer in the minor damage I had done. My bangs were still pretty long and layered at the time. I even brought a picture of the desired effect. Well, the end result was that he lopped off any layering I had with my bangs and cut them straight across so now they are even blunter and choppier than when I began. The picture I gave him had an inch more length than what I was left with and was layered. My stylist was also a little rude and as soon as he finished butchering my bangs went right back outside to finish the cigarette I had interrupted when I showed up.

Amour de hair is a good option for a quick haircut. A wash and cut is $26. It used to be $20 which was very good, but now it's not a bargain anymore. It's hit or miss sometimes w/ the stylist but they are usually good.

I have bangs, which the stylist did not like- so she blewdry my hair so they were not noticable (also no product in blowdry). I was satisfied with the cut, it was well done... It's $20 for a cut and $30 for a blowdry, which isn't bad for manhattan. However, I would not suggest men to go, because I brought my boyfriend and she gave him the worst haircut I have ever seen on a man. It looked like a flat-top.

Went in for a simple color job. $80 later my hair looked awful. The rude staff wouldn't refund my money. They have no idea what they're doing. Avoid at all costs!
