I went for brunch this past Sunday with my bf bc the menu looked decent. Upon seating we order some water and my boyfriend gets a bloody mary. It doesn't occur to us to ask the price because we assume it can't be THAT much since it's brunch and bloody mary's are a staple. The bloody mary comes, we order and waitt. I notice every table around us had a breadbasket... ours was just "forgotten" and never brought out even after asking for it. The food came, I asked for a diet coke, it tasted like the filter hadn't been cleaned in years. I had two sips and couldn't take it anymore. Even my bf said it was awful. Food was simply ok. I got an omelet with crappy deli ham w/ way too salty cheese. I asked for more ketchup & by the time that came around i was practically done. Our creepy hostess was standing behind the curtain peering at everyone (not helping) while sipping a bloody mary. At this point we had already written up the restaurant as poor then the check came. $12 for a bloody mary?! You've got to be kidding me! Both our meals weren't even $12! how can you possibly charge more than a meal for a drink? We asked her if that was correct, she was rude and just said yes that's how much it is. I couldn't believe that it cost 1/4 of our meal. After crappy service, a creepy hostess, and not great food I'll never return. Suggestion? Look at your pricing, it should make sense. I'd be willing to pay $12 for a drink at the nicest brunch spot in town, but this dump? Hell no.

Pros: good outside seating

Cons: but thats not even worth it

Baraonda is a great place to be, I always feel very welcome and well treated. The food is original Italian and I know many Italians who love to eat there, which is a good sign. The huge wine selection is great. It happened only once that they didn't have the bottle I ordered in store. Especially in summer, it's one of the best outdoor places on the UES. The bartenders are professional and entertaining. I can warmly recommend this place.

My friend and I were looking for a late night bite. This is in our neighborhood so we gave it a shot. Ate outside which was nice. Food was decent. Price typical NYC.

The menu looks amazing, but the food was just your everyday italian restaurants food, nothing special here. I had the lobster ravioli, which you couldnt really even taste the lobster. My boyfriend had the tagliatelle bolognese and again...just boring. The price was quite expensive for what we got. I'd go elsewhere for better food and better price. In addition the waiter was TERRIBLE, at one point I was saying loudly "excuse me" and waiving my arms to get his attention to offer us parmesean cheese for our entrees. RIDICULOUS!

Pros: Location

Cons: Food, Price, Service

Loved the atmosphere and the vibrancy. Almost like being at a party. Not the best place to go if you want a quiet romantic dinner, at least the night that I went. The food was excellent, the service was great, and again the ambiance and atmosphere was a good escape from the dreariness outside. I would recomend this place if you don't mind listening to good music and looking at beautiful women.

Very upset with the whole experience
We had 8 45 reservations for 4. We ordered appetizers, entrees and two bottles of wines. The entire to time we felt that we were being rushed. At some point we were done eating and had about a glass of wine left each. The waiter came over 3 times in 5 minutes to ask us if we wanted dessert. We said yes but we wanted to finish our wine and to please come back. Ithen noticed the waiter speaking to the manager and he looked as if he was being yelled at. Then the waiter approached us and said sorry guys but my manager needs the table so i have to give you your bill. It was exactly 9 45. So 1 hour since we got there. He then brought us the bill. We were pretty much rushed out the door. Our bill was $420. We spoke to manager and he said sorry I need your table and your dining experience cannot be longer than 1 hour. Ive never been treated like this anywhere in NY or the rest of the world.
Pricey, food not all that, treated like garbage.
OUR NIGHT WAS RUINED AND IT COST US $420
PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Torture Chamber.

Noisiest restaurant in the Northern Hemisphere.

Managers refuse to turn down the music.

You can?t even taste the food with such noise.

DON?T go unless you are a certified Masochist.

This place has the worst food, desserts, service, and atmosphere!! I cannot think of one good thing to say about this restaurant. The waiter dropped a knife on me and didn't even apologize. Food was either overly salty or bland as water. Dessert was disappointing. Such a small place with a crowd of about 80 men. You can suffocate in there. I wouldn't even want to walk by this restaurant.

I went into Baraonda with friends at 10:45pm. I had already eaten dinner and ordered a salad just to have something to eat and drink with my friends... all the others ordered entrees. There was no line for a table yet they insisted that I order a full entree. If I did not order an entree they would charge me $50 a person no matter if I ate or not. Baraonada is NOT that good of a place that they can afford to turn away customers because one did not feel like shoveling down a wild boar at 10:45 on a sunday night. Needless to say, we left, and still had to pay a $10 coat check fee. Very poor service and attitude. The consensus is: do not go there for the service. If wild boar is what you are looking to eat- you've found your joint! Good luck.

Based on what I'd heard about it, I went to Baraonda early (9:45) on a Sunday night by myself. I asked the bartender when the dancing began, and she said in a few hours. I joked that she should stiffen everybody's drink so it would happen earlier, and she said -- exact words -- "Why are you so desperate to see the party?" How I overcame my intense desperation and left after one drink... I'll never know.

I have spent four years enjoying NYC restuarants. Seriously, I only eat out, my kitchen is empty. This is one of the worst service/price ratio I have eaten at since coming to New York. The service was so bad for a 400 dollar tab, if any of you were there you would be shocked. The owner is rude, the service is horrible, the food is OK, the place is crowded, loud, dirty. I highly recommend YOU avoid Baraonda at any cost. You have been warned, lest you try to eat there you will find out for yourself why this place is terrible.

People are being too hard on Baraonda. It's by far my favorite Italian restaurant on the upper eastside, maybe even the city! The gnocchi is TO DIE FOR! (And I've been to Italy a few times.) The creme brulee is also some of the best I've had, and the dressing on the house salad is fantastic. Admittedly, I do get the same thing everytime I go, but it's just so good! The atmosphere of this place is great for a date, even if the tables are a little close together. I'd also recommend it for a group of girlfriends, looking to splurge on great food, and flirt with cute waiters.

This is MY FAVORITE PLACE in the city! By far! Yes, its eurotrashy and loud. But that's what makes it fun!!! On wed and sundays they close the curtains and have people dancing on the table! My favorite thing though is THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS!!! So yummy! The artichokes with almonds and cheese, yum! The gnocchi with truffle oil, yum! The waiters are young and hot..and are very flirtatious and dance with the patrons! The food is great! The atmosphere is fun!

I have heard so much about this place. Besides the art work and trendy euro music, the experience sucked. Horrible service, below average cuisine, asked to leave the table before finishing our wine, and forced to have our port at the bar...
When I pay $130 for two, I want to enjoy my time...

Everything started well that night. We got our table on time and this place has a nice setting. Food was good. A bit pricey if anything, but good. The evening got almost ruined when the female maitre d' tried to kick us out of our table while we wanted to order another round of drinks. She couldn't have handled the situation any worse. Rude, no respect whatsoever. What does such a restaurant gain of behaving so badly? Not much as far as we are concerned, we won't return!

I had heard so many things about this restaurant that I decided to try it with a group of friends.I will not waste anyone's time with any description of the bad food we had.The service was terrible, it was like we were not even there.Even to order a THIRD bottle of a $50.00 bottle of wine, we had to endure the waiter's attitude, like he was doing us a "solid", if you're into huge "Euro" crowds and don't care about what you eat and how it is served to you, Baraonda is your kind of place.

Baraonda has the best gnocchi (potato pasta) i've ever had, and i've been to Rome. The seating is VERY cramped and perhaps uncomfortable at times but the food makes up for it. Sunday nights are always fun until you get the $3000 bill for the bottles. All in all, give it a shot.

My heart begins to hurt when I imagine what they had in mind while creating this restaurant, but it sadly runs in a state of confusion while trying to find its identity. The decor is clearly Latin, as is most of the unbearably loud music, but the cuisine is more of a mixture between Italian and French. A blink-and-you-missed, tiny bar lines the lefthand side wall as you enter, which is packed with neighborhood hipsters, but it sadly interferes with the tables filled with dining patrons that are forking out mega bucks for mediocre fare.

From start to finish, my experience at Baraonda was horrific. Reservations were at 7:30, they called at 7:25 with an attitude to ask if we were coming. Sat us at a table for 6 even though we had 9 in our party. Once dinner was served, the waiter didn't come back for over 45 minutes. Obviously the blonde who greets people at the door is more concerned with flirting with the clientele then serving tables. I was appalled by the entire experience and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

What might strike you, as a colorful and artsy place with a somewhat interesting sounding menu; it will soon dawn on you when you sit down in this loud, badly organized and horrific place that you just entered Freddys equivalent of the Elm Street Diner located on 75th and 2nd.

Not only do you have to put up with horrific service (our waiter was taught by another how to open the wine bottle!), dull food but also you most likely will be an expert in mime, as you cant possibly keep a conversation with your date/friend.

The place is packed which is no big deal. Baraonda means chaos and that's what you get. You have to accept that going in. Subpar food is the issue. I had the pan seared tuna. At $24 you expect a nice piece of tuna. What I got looked like scraps. Not good. The tuna didn't taste fresh and the vegetables were about the same.

I was expecting a great dish with reliable service from all the hoopla I heard about this place. I was sorely dissappointed. The food took forever almost 45 minutes and was cold when I got it. Our waiter actually turned another table before we got ours. He was not attentive and didn't even ask how our dish was. One place I'm definately not going back to.

Staff are good-looking, and for an Eastside restaurant, it is hip. I found the food characterless, except Tiramisu, which was one of the best in town. I was annoyed how often I was bumped into whilst dinning. Perhaps too many tables for the small establishment?

Haven't ever been here on a weekend, but i went for dinner on a weeknight. It wasn't too crowded or too noisy. really nice atmosphere for a night out with friends. the food was actually pretty good, and the service was okay. the wine menu was pretty pricey, and the bill definitley added up quickly! Not bad for an east side restaurant, though.

Pros: great atmosphere, good food, fun, young crowd

Cons: pricey

Located on the corner of Second Avenue and 75th Street, this Mediterranean flavored restaurant offers nights full of fun but dishes empty of flavor. It is mostly known for its dancing and loud music towards the late hours of the evening also it is nicely decorated with drawings and paintings in red tones. Late diners can witness the transformation of this restaurant to a dance club, if you are willing to have a pretty late dinner. It is a nice place to visit for drinks or even maybe some appetizers but if you are looking for a dining experience skip this place. Menu is mostly Mediterranean influenced but some how pretty blend. Safe choices would be pasta or pizza. Eat somewhere else; come for the dancing and drinks.

Pros: Fun Place, Good Service, Nicely Decorated

Cons: Owerpriced, Limited Menu, Small & Crowded

Baraonda can be small, jammed and noisy with the young crowd of Euros scarfing down pricey pastas and having a high and loud time. The staff is as good-looking as the clientele.
