I have always had bad experinces with doctors office, it always felt like a revolving door and very impersonal. I only known bellevue and never tried to go anywhere else until i started planning to have a child with my now husband after our wedding. Once we found out we were expecting i found some women client in mid-town. it wasnt mad but they only have their hospital in jersey and they dont deliver the baby and only focused on making sure my husband was comfortable every appointment not me. so i found out that the hospital i really love was covered by his insurance. NYU helped me find Dr.Robert Berg and i read all the negative reviews but still wanted to check for myself. I called to make an appointment and the receptionist was very nice and patiant with me. On the day of our appointment, my husband and I did wait awhile but it wasnt a bad of a wait much shorter then bellevue. less the 25 minute but its a doctors office you never know what the patient in front of you might be going thru. we finally met Dr. Berg and from the start I liked him. Dr.Berg made sure to attend to all my questions and answered them all. explained everything and was always honest, my whole experince with him was always pleasent, calm and honest.I have nothing negative to say about Dr.Berg or his office or NYU. I'm So happy and pleased that i listened to the voice with in and checked him out for myself. It is now 16months after my sons birth and am sticking with Dr.berg. He will be my premmant ob/gyn doctor

There are not enough words or even the right ones to describe my own experience. I had to let almost 10 months go by before I was able to really write this. Dr. Berg is very unconventional, which I was fine with really. Although it wasn's a warm and fuzzy feeling and you can definitely feel that your experience is nothing new for him, I was ok with it since it prevented me from unnecessary worry as this was my first child. Everything changed after I gave birth. The delivery was fine - vaginal, normal, no drama or issues. The baby was healthy thank God but I did not deliver my placenta normally. I was in a rather stressful procedure for almost 2 hours - where he and another doctor tried to remove the pieces as best as they could. My issue is not with the fact that this happened to me - that is outside of anyone's control. My issue is with how my postpartum care was handled. One other thing to note - he is very prone to attention getting antics. He brought my daughter out to my family since my afterbirth procedure was taking so long. He almost gave my grandparents a heart attack and some of the younger men in my family had the urge to physically harm him. He was holding her like a football, playing with her, twisting upside down and around etc. - not a comfortable scene for parent, grandparents etc. Moving on - I was monitored closely that night, then allowed to leave 48 hours after birth with no plan on checking up on me. I developed a fever 4 days postpartum - in total - I called his practice 3 times and spoke with a combination of him and his partner about my symptoms. Symptoms mainly included a steady fever and heavy bleeding. Again this was my first child so I didn't know what was normal. I was breastfeeding for the first time - milk can cause fever was what I was told. Since my fever was not over 101.4 (just 101) and my stomach area didn't hurt - I was led to believe this was all normal. Given that he knew my complications, and being a professional, in hindsight he should have had me come right in just to be sure. Although - I am not sure what he could have done since there is no ultrasound machine at his office that I know of. The bottom line is I lived with a terrible fever for 5 days - barely surviving on Advil - just trying to get by and do the best I could with a newborn. He finally told me to come in if the fever persisted - I had an appointment to come in - he cancelled due to surgery and I didn't want to see a non-doctor. I ended up checking myself into the ER - good thing I did since I almost bleed to death during this whole thing. I had a terrible infection due to retained placenta. The infection then traveled to my bloodstream which escalated the situation considerably. I do not want to relive all those details but let's just say after 8 days of not being able to see my daughter, 3 blood transfusions, a DNC procedure, and being poked and produded literally 100 times - I would not recommend Dr. Berg. I asked him to contact me several times - via the front desk and his partner - he never did. I did however receive a bill in the mail. Go figure!

Every time I have gone to see Dr. Berg at this office has been a lousy ranging on terrible experience. The flip, "I don't care" attitude of all employees, receptionists, nurses, and doctor make visits confusing and often upsetting experiences. Do not go to this doctor's office.

obviously this doctor cares more about money then treating patients. today dr berg wasted my time because he has a billing policy that requires you to agree to give your credit card and permission for the doctor to be able to charge in case your insurance does not pay. after the long wait for the appointment, insisting they check my insurance before the appointment and calls checking for cancelations on the day of my appt. i was denied service because i would not give up my credit card information with permission to charge it in the future. in this climate of recession and increasing fraud going around i do not feel comfortable having a permission slip to charge out my bank account. am i the only person that has a problem with this? the dentist dosent even ask for this and the co pays are way higher.

I was treated by Dr. Berg at their office on 32nd Street. Dr. Berg is easily described as an unprofessional and awful doctor that speaks to patients in a condescending and arrogant manner and is unwilling to consult with your primary care physician as well as being uninterested in any of your personal concerns for your treatment. Not only was he demeaning to myself in front of others patients and staff, I have never been spoken to in such a way. I have worked in the medical field for 4 years now and if any of my clients were to be treated in that manner I would advise them as I did to file a complaint with the Department of HEalth. In addition to the awful treatment I received at his office, his office staff is unwilling to hear your concerns, return your phone calls or work with you in any manner. I would highly recommend that you do NOT even step a foot in this office, let alone that horrid man touch you or participate in your medical treatment in anyway.

Dr. Berg was my doctor while I was pregnant and delivered my son. I can't say enough about him and would recommend him highly to anyone.

He is really smart and is excellent at his job. My labor was very long (about 21 hours). During the process, he was also delivering other babies, but every judgement call he made during my labor was totally right on.

In terms of his bedside manner, he is very direct. In my view, that is a very desirable characteristic for a doctor to have.

Dr. Robert Berg delivered all three of my children and I have had great experiences with him. He is smart and witty and let me not forget, extremely skilled at what he does. He's my favorite doctor.

He has a dry humor, whisc is not foreign with highly intelligent individuals. His laid back approach has always put me at ease, and it should not be mistaken for his abilities nor his care.

I live in NJ but I continue to see Dr. Berg, because I believe if you have an excellent Ob-Gyn like him, then commute is not an issue.

I had a very negative experience with Dr. Berg. I found him to be a very cold, unsympathetic doctor with a very arrogant attitude towards his patients. His partner Dr. Villanueva is fine, and I mostly used her, but he ended up delivering my fourth baby. ( I was not a new mother who needed so much hand holding) There was no time to have an epidural, so it was a very natural birth. At one point, as i was pushing, he told me irritably to stop screaming. There were no encouraging words, and both my husband and doula found his general bedside manner to be so lacking that they both recommended I not use him again.
