Great Spot!!!

by CoachG

I went there on Saturday October 10th, 2009 and had a great time! The music was great with an eclectic mix of different genres that seemed to accomodate most. patrons. For a Manhattan lounge this place was great for there was no attitude and people were down to earth just enjoying themselves. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is planning on having a party or just going there unannounced for the night. Even though its located in SoHo the prices were quite reasonable.

Pros: Great Music and No Attitude!!

Cons: Crowded for its fun!!

Great place to meet friends and make new ones....

by Easjr7

This is the ultimate choice for someone that wants to experience the down-town night life of Manhattan in a fun and safe environment. You cannot go wrong here as you will always be treated well and surrounded by all types of people - from the neighborhood types to the pretty and often famous as well.

It can get better, if you arrange your own private party,as the spot is flexible and the NL Team does their best to ensure a special and memorable event.

It is incredible that this establishment has maintained both quality and longevity in this changing club world. I prefer it during the week when you can get a good seat at the bar.....

Pros: Great atmosphere, music and friendly staff......

Cons: Don't expect a quiet evening.....

Rockin' Energy to Fun Music!

by KoreanFreckles

This bar has been a classic staple to my regimen of going out in NYC. It's spacious enough to get lost and dance away the night to 80's music and intimate enough to run into your friends who make it there to meet you. From time to time there is a line but there is no typical red rope BS that you'd see at club row. The bartenders are fast and there is never a long wait for a drink. They are a mainstay to in my nightlife of 13 years! I will never grow tired of the tireless energy that is pumping through the bar!

Just recently I remember going there a saturday night and catching something I'd never seen before. Two guys pretending they were double dutch jump roping (without a jump rope) and other on lookers queing up in line to get a chance to dance/jump through the pretend ropes. You never know what to expect in a fun place like N Lunch!

Pros: BEST 80's music in town,Friendly staff, Discount Drinks!

Cons: Intimate and can get crowded during popular times

Good bar but took forever to get a drink

by bcb005

Went here last Saturday night for a friends b-day party. The place had a great atmosphere (good beats), cool people (very limited B&T) , and was pretty packed. HOWEVER what made this place very average was that it took forever to get a drink b/c they only had three bartenders working on a Saturday night (two at the main front bar and one at the small back bar). When you finally got the attention of one of the bartenders the service was pretty good, they just need to add a couple bartenders so it doesn't take forever to get a drink.

Overall I recommend the bar though as we all had a pretty fun time ... albeit very sobering one.

Pros: Atmoshpere

Cons: Service

Amazing music, energy, vibe... this bar owns it all!

by MuiMui17

I am not big on writing any reviews and I must admit that I don't think I've ever written one, but I MUST write about my experience at this Soho lounge! Simply put... it is my favorite Soho spot!!!! My friends and I usually stop in after 11 p.m. Which is prime time... music is already pumping and people are already shaking their a**es on the dance floor. I love it. We always have such a good time and have stay till closing. This week my friends wanted to meet there after work but now I love it even more! We had a choice to sit outside, or in. Either way... it didn't matter because the Windows completely opened up so it felt like we were sitting outdoors. And I know this is going to sound lame but THE perfect breeze was coming in while sitting inside. Sweet bartenders always work the bar and hats off to the choice of music being played Even after a long work day, there is something incredibly rejuvenating going on at this bar. One downfall. ***SIGN*** I smushed two leggy mosquitos that landed on my leg...and my friend mushed one that tried to make a meal of her arm. I guess that is the downside to open windows and doors. Well Worth it!!!

Pros: Perfect spot. Amazing music. Strong drinks. Fast bartenders. Has it all!

Saturday night hotspot

by AC84

I was hopping around Soho last Saturday night with a few friends and we were drawn to a busy corner with trace of dance music. The vibe was lively and the atmosphere felt like a lounge. It's the kind of place that's fun with a group of friends or just a couple of people. The staff was also attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially my out of town friends because it would give them an exceptional Soho night life experience.

A Great Spot on a Saturday Night

by chin_vinnie

I work a block away from here and I finally had an opportunity to stop by on a Saturday night. I went with my sister and some friends and had an AMAZING time! SoHo is full of places to have a good time but here, it was something else. The service was friendly and quick; the music is a "blast from the past" - with of course today's tunes; and everyone was having a great time... I will definitely tell all my friends and clients about this place because it's the best thing that has happened to SoHo.

Best palce to have a drink and dance the night away

by timbo31999

I have been going to this place since it opened, as a matter of fact, I have been there so many times I feel like I have know the owners since we were kids!
It offers a great place to meet for a quick drink after work , or to get a bunch of friends together for a long night of dancing.
It is the perfect size for a great time , not too large like a club and not too small like a cafe.
The people who work there are always friendly and the crowd is always there for a good time, never any drama.
The music is always top notch and the selection of drinks will accommodate everyone.
So if you are looking for a great spot to add to your places to hang out list , this should be your first choice!
Cheers!

Pros: Great location, great look, always a fun place.

Great Customer Service and Ambiance for all occasions

by Lissey

I really love this place and everyone of my friends end up becoming a regular. I get jealous when they go without me! Afterwork its a great place to unwind and converse with friends and colleagues or potential clients. I've also been here later in the evening and on the weekends and LOVE the music-its ALWAYS a great time. Summer Thursdays they serve free BBQ and the food is damn good! You can sit outside which is nice and the neighborhood is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is great and the service is always friendly; drinks are delish at great prices. I highly recommend this place for all occasions.

Pros: Comfy atmosphere

GREAT SERVICE! GREAT MUSIC!

by deeM17

It all started when I had to meet my Girl friends there for a drink ,a happy hour drink. One drink, right? Well, we didn't leave til the wee hours of the night. I'm not sure where to begin, or point out the highlight of my evening, but I'm gonna try. Seriously, there was a great variety of drinks to select from and great specials. The D.J. kept the energy level up by cooking up some amazing music and honestly, I just can't help but love a place that packs in a Hip New York City crowd. As the night moved along, it got crowded, but we were having so much fun it really didn't bother us. I think I will make this one of my regular spots. See you there soon! Meow!

Pros: Music and drinks

Awful

by Mark987

horrible place. was very disappointed. was there on a fri eve for a friend's bday who had bottles, tables rserved, etc.. the bouncers were jerks, the waitress was not attentive (juices for bottle service alcohol not refreshed often ,etc.) and the clientele left a lot to be desired. Girls weren't cute, stylish or fun, guys seemed like they were out of some senior high school class in Ohio and were having their first binge drinking experience. Please go someplace else.

Pros: Location

Cons: Everything else (service, bouncers, clientele, too crowded, etc.)

I booked the Round Room for my birthday get together on Saturday night. It was great. The manager was super attentive, the drinks were great and the DJ was off the hook. All my friends and I had a blast and we partied til almost 3am. Highly recommend!

Pros: great music

Cons: one bathroom for women; too long of a line

Nice people, strong drinks

by kickboxgirl

I was supposed to go somewhere else, but that place closed down. So we saw this bar and a decent line forming outside. We went up to the bouncers and they were totally nice and informative!! It was $8 cover for Sat night, which wasn't bad. We went in and our bartender was so sweet and all smiles! The crowd was 20 and 30 something people, and they were all nice and polite. All in all, a good place to hang. Not crazy about the music, but then again, maybe because I have never been too into the 80s music to begin with.

Great DJ, Great Crowd, Great Time

by djcharlys

Hands down one of the best DJs in the city. I have never seen more women swoon over one man before. I like to go Saturday nights because before 2 there seems to be a 3 to 1 girl guy ratio. It does get very crowded and the line to the bar at times is annoying, but isn?t it like there everywhere? And a big plus, you don?t need to drop a grand to get in guys.

Best 80s Dancing

by citikat

Every time I go here - I have a blast. The music so fun, the drinks are not ridiculously over-priced, the staff is super-friendly - honestly I can't think of a bad thing to say about it. Yes, it would be nice if there were more bathrooms added. Show me a really fun place and I'll show you a long bathroom line, basically.

How can you complain when you are dancing to "Let's Hear it For The Boy"?

Pros: Great music, fun dancing without being too "clubby"

Cons: crowded, long bathroom line

Posted 02/21/07

Too hot, too crowded and I hope you don't need to go to the bathroom.

by susanebachman

I was here last Saturday for a birthday party. The men at the door were surly to say the least... I got in with no problem but a friend (male) waited 10 minutes and paid $8 and we were there for a planned birthday party. Inside started out nice, but it was so hot and crowded it was impossible to move let alone dance. And ladies, the wait for the bathroom was about 20 minutes. If you are looking for a singles scene, this is a good place. But the crowd on the night I went was very, very average. Overall, this place just isn't that great. Go someplace else.

Pros: Drinks, Singles Scene

Cons: Very hot, too crowded, long lines for the bathroom

Not for the clostrophobic

by xoxoalxoxo

We arrived to find a long line but knew someone who got us in. The door guy was very accomodating. We walked in to find a sea of people. Unfortunately, relative to the astronomical number of attendees, there were only two bartenders and ONE girls' bathroom (which was inconveniently located all the way in the back). The music was great if you like 80's! The bartender was rude (he tapped me on the shoulder disputing the amount i tipped which is incredibly tactless). Overall, so crowded it was impossible to move, and fights between drunk guys were unavoidable and the drinks were expensive and not worth it. For a bar of the same feel, I'd go elsewhere.

Pros: good music

Cons: way too crowded

Good place for classic girls night out

by merryweather65

I brought a few of out of town friends here for a Saturday night. The scene is highly B & T, but it worked because all my girls were B & T! The bar is oozing with estrogen! The DJ played every girl song you could ask for (and sing along to). The other reviews which mentioned the club getting better later in the night were accurate. The vibe picked up around 1 am when all the guys came in! Once it was a mixed crowed (not just bacholorette parties) things picked up. Overall, the staff was terrific, from the bouncer, to the bartender, to the barback. I would recommend this establishment for a fun, classic, girls night out!

Pros: Guest List, Reasonable cover charge, Solid Bartender

Cons: Super Young Crowd, B&T

bachelorette bonanza

by sev2108

Real or fake, if you're looking for the bachelorette and her entourage, you picked the right place. I'd be willing to bet that most of them drove, too. There were at least FIVE different bachelorettes there last weekend.

I think this place is the best when you arrive after the rush, around 1-2 -that's when the music is the best anyway.

Pros: late night, late night music

Cons: cover ($7), one girl bathroom, can be very crowded

Been here a few times and always had the best time! The bouncers are awesome and super friendly. The DJ plays great music and is super hot. He is also always willing to take requests. It does get super crowded and the one bathroom and long line sucks but is well worth it. By the end of the night, everyone is dancing and having a great time and all the hot guys are an added plus! By far the best staff we have come across in NYC!

Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Music, Beautiful People

Cons: Super Crowded , Long bathroom line

by punky21

Saturday night was my second trip to Naked Lunch. The bouncers are incredibly friendly and helpful!! The $7 cover isn't bad and the music is awesome but the place IS SOOO CROWDED!!
I had drinks spilled on me numerous times during both visits. Despite my leather jacket being stole... I had a decent time. The bar staff was too busy to help except to provide a flashlight to aid our search of the floor. This place would be a gem if they did some simple crowd control.

Pros: music, location, bouncers

Cons: , crowded, stolen jacket

by lovesublime

I went to naked Lunch at the recommendation of several people, but I dont see what the big deal was. It was a good social scene, they played good music and the bar service was reasonably fast. Yes there was a cover charge but the drinks were not overly expensive. The mixed drinks were not so great so I stick with beer.
beware it was VERY crowded but they had a coat check which was an added plus for a nasty rainy night. Good place for singles. The bathroom only had 1 stall=long line!

Pros: Fun atmosphere, good service, coat check

Cons: wall to wall crowded, restroom too small

Fire The Bouncer & Buy Real Alcohol!

by gjb13b

Naked lunch can be a great time, BUT be forewarned that (1) the bouncer will very annoyingly ask all groups of guys to show "gratitude" to get in - $5 each should do, but realize a $7 cover usually follows (2) when you don't specify the alcohol brand in your drink, you're getting what me and my friends considered the worst alcohol we had ever tasted.

Fun Scene

by lsterls

I recently had my birthday party here after many recommendations from different people. I was a bit nervous having never been to Naked Lunch. As I soon realized, worrying was a waste of time. The music was great, the crowd was fun, and everyone had a great time. The place definitely gets croweded, but its totally bearable. On negative...I had contacted the owner many times about a drink special for my guests. I was told over and over again that it would be available, however it appeared that it did not exist. Overall, the place was great and I highly recommend having your next b-day party here!

Pros: crowd, music, dancing

Way too cheesy

by kahindi

This place has the nerve to charge a cover for crappy eighties music, an annoying bridge&tunnel crowd, and a doorman that can't manage capacity, creating such a crowded environment that you're constantly getting pushed from all sides, and not just at the bar. If you're looking for a fraternity party crowd and atmosphere, this is your place. If you're looking for something cooler, skip it. I'm never going back.

I went there on a Saturday night with my girlfriend and two other friends at around 2AM. The Bouncer/Door man says he can't let us in because there were "to many" guys, as if we were standing in line to an exclusive manhattan night spot. Anyway after coaxing the dude for a minute, he agrees to let us in on one condition, that is, if we could all "tip" him for his services. Well this was my tip, move over bro before you get steam rolled, anyway, we get in and it was exactly like an earlier post, 22 year old frat boy red-necks sporting rugby sweaters like wannabe Ivory-Leaguers from the Mid-West.

R&B/rap consumes NYC lounges

by kmerritt

In this NYC area RAP, POP and R&B dominates. This music is force-fed to everyone. Whenever a tight lounge with smooth vibes opens up. The wrong type of DJs with the wrong vibes move in and change the whole atmosphere. When I DJ I don't play what the crowd likes. You can come to hear me play and feel my world sound (Acid-Jazz/Deep-Sexy House). I'm not going to change for the crowd. I started hanging out at Naked Lunch in 2000. I stoped the following year because the smooth Tuesday night vibe changed to Rap/R&B, which consumes all NYC lounges/bars. Is there any where left to DJ except at parties?? Lets make Naked Lunch trendy once more. Maybe I should move to Europe. km

Pros: Drinks, parking, Service

Cons: Music, crowd, Losers

by missmorticia

No one is naked or having lunch, but it gets so hot in there, "so take off all your clothes"( & i dont even like Nelly that much). Naked Lunch took a while to get going, but once it did, lookout! A diverse music offering made this a fun nite for all tastes! The only prob is it gets very hot, and stuffy, and the loo is in the back (thats bathroom to the rest of you). Hence causing the age old debate - dance or pee? Very tough decision. Eveyone from the patrons to bouncers to bartenders were very polite. Great DJ! A good place to go early for quiet, but then the party gets hopping to the wee hours.

Pros: fun, good music, good bartenders

Cons: hot, crowded, one loo
