The worst!!!! A great example of the owner's ego getting in the way of polite costumer service. He has to demonstrate his superiority rather than just answering questions.\r

OMG - NO ONE SHOP THERE! They are rude on the phone and say they are too busy to help you. Umm - what happened to customer satisfaction or assistance. They are a Mom and Pop - well they should probably retire cause they are rude and don't

I just moved into the neighborhood two days ago and to support the small mom and pop stores I went to this hardware/paint store to get hooks to hang my pictures. I needed 15 hooks. When I came home to use them I realized the nails are too long so I went back the next morning to return. They remembered me but would not return or give me a store credit because I did not have my receipt. The owner then accused me of trying to return hooks from another hardware store since I did not bring them back in his plastic bag. I explained that I just moved and used any plastic bag I could find in my apartment. He was so nasty. I will never go back into that store. I am completely shocked by his behavior. I have been living in NYC for over 20 years and never encountered an owner of a small business so unhelpful to a customer. I hope he goes out of business!!!!!

The salesperson was so helpful in explaining my paint options and helping me with the swatches. Definitely going back to buy my paint from them and will update with my experience!

I am shocked to read the previous reviews. I learnt of London Hardware through Benjamin Moore's color consultation program.
I came in and sat down with Martin. The owner and only official color consultant in Manhattan. He went through my reference tear sheets and came up with an amazing color scheme for me. Some Benjamin Moore, some not. I work as a film editor and have a very good eye for color, which means that if a color is slightly off, it drives me crazy. I was working with a combination of modern, earth tone greys, which is a difficult pallet to master. Martin has a genuine talent for recognizing even subtle hue and tone differences, and being second generation in the paint business, he know how to translate that to paint. His recommendations where absolutely spot on.
As for the store in general, I found there to be great selection, very reasonable prices and the employees very eager to help. For instance, they carried my paint to the side walk and helped me into a cab. Try getting that service from Home Depot.
I don't know how such bad reviews came about for this store, and the owner specifically, but this is not at all the experience I had with them.

I came to London Paint for Donald Kaufman paint and had a great experience. Martin Kesselman really knows his colors and his expertise was greatly appreciated. We are quite pleased with the paints we selected, and thank Martin for his input.

If you go into this store, you will find what you need. The staff will help you and give you advice on any project you have. This is a great local store. Also, there is a cute Boston Terrier that sits behind the counter. Say hi to him next time you are there.

This is an amazing store for high-end paints. These are formulated with natural pigments, or with full-spectrum colors behind the main color. You have to see them to believe them

Run, don't walk, past this place. Everything costs more here than at any other hardware store, and they dish it out with a big helping of 'nasty'. I don't think there are ruder sales people in all of Chelsea. The worst!

I visited London True Value Hardware the other day and needed some info prior to making a purchase. The staff was uncooperative and one in particular told me pointedly to wait a minute. I did and when the minute turned into five I spoke up again and was literally stared at and ignored. So I left, never to return. I don't understand in this day and age how a business can act that way with its customers.

Poor service. Not consumer friendly. Overpriced. Best to pass them by in favor of the hardware store on 9th avenue just south of 25th street. When I lost my key, I needed them t o open my apartment and replace one lock. They charged me $500. Afterwards, checking other emergency locksmiths, the highest price I was given was $200. Taking advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable is noway to run a business.

I have lived in Chelsea, NY for many many years and my husband and I have shopped at the London True Value with the owners Leonard and Martin for all of our hardware needs up until now. Lately I've noticed a more hostile environment in the store mainly on days when the older owner, Leonard, was present. I have witnessed him insulting not only his own employees but even customers!!! While I personally have managed to avoid being the receiver of any of, what must be his form of compensating for something through his rage, it pains me to just witness it happening to someone else. We've lived in this city for many years of our lives so I understand that New Yorkers tend to be naturally rude sometimes, but how can you expect to maintain costumers when you either pay them no mind or you outright treat them like garbage? The store has definitely felt less hostile when Leonard was not in attendance. Martin is often pleasant and his current three employees are always eager to assist and are quite knowledgeable in their business. Our hardware needs have always been met by the workers of the store. They were really the only saving factors for us. However, we just can't take it anymore. On my way to the store to pick up some shelf brackets, I saw Leonard storming out to berate a bus driver of a mentally ill establishment for no logical reason. He shouted out vulgar profanity at the man (??what the f*ck do you think you??re doing??) almost climbing into the bus and I was afraid he would physically attack. Those poor people didn??t even know what was going on and he was there just shouting at their driver. I couldn??t find the strength to go into the store after that. This has sat on my mind for a few days now and I felt I needed to vent so I hope this will be useful to someone. If you need a hardware store, Martin and the employees here are great but if you see the older man in the store just walk right back out. We will just make the longer trip to the hardware store on 9th Ave and 25th St.
