My friend let me use his account to respond to your ridiculousness. By the way know is spelled know not No. So her is Patrick R from Broadalbin's response.

Bill H, are you a Vet? I was a little upset on the phone yes because of the shortness and attitude of the lady there. Like I said I was a long time customer and deserved a little more patience and time than most. Also you have a lot of nerve saying I should have brought my dog in sooner. I did, twice for lumps on her back and neck and this great Vet you talk about said it was fatty tissues. It turned to be tumors so she suffered for months after that initial visit to the drug pusher.

I for one have alot of respect for Dr French when I didnt have the complete amount of my bill she came to my rescue, she is the only place I know that will help you out when in need when it comes to you furbabies! Dont pay when you say then there is a problem! I witnessed the Rotti in the clinic with the eye illness. I also heard you on the phone being oh so rude to the employees there.Your dogs illness should have been cared for weeks before you brought him to the clinic Mr Patrick R. from
Broadalbin, NY you were way out of line but you keep thinking you were the good guy. The witnesses in the clinic that day no better!

On June 28th I called this place asking to speak to the "Vet" Dr. French because my dog has gunky eyes and was suddenly unable to see. Most people I talked to said it was allergies but I wanted a "professional" opinion from the "Vet" I have had my animals with for over a decade. You would think a decade long relationship would deserve a call back in an instance like this right? I mean over that period of time we have spent $1000's of dollars on our animals there so that is the least they could do right??? WRONG!!!!

I was told that she doesn't do that and that we need to make an appointment for my dog to be seen. I said well I really don't want to spend a lot of money to tell me my dog has allergies so if I could just talk to her to ask her couple of questions that would be great. They refused so I was rightfully very upset. I felt betrayed because of the loyalty we have been to this place. So I told the lady I was switching to another vet and that I will need my animals records. Without even a hesitation she said ok and that will be 25 cents a copy. I said start them I will be down immediately. She said no I will wait until you get here. So now you can imagine how po'ed I am considering they did not even try to keep me as a customer. So I get on a website and write a review of my experience and said to avoid this place at all costs. What do I care right, I am getting a new vet? Well most vets only take new patients a certain time of year so I swallowed my pride.

Now mind you the reason I brought her down was because of her eyes and she was not eating. I get a call later the same day and they said she has what is equivalent to humans having an intestinal flu and that the dehydration would cause her eyes to gunk up because they were unable to produce tears. Made sense to me but what do I know. So my wife called the next day (Saturday) and they said she still has not eaten but they would call her back later. My wife is still waiting for that call. I go in Monday morning before I go to work to see my dog and one of the assistants comes in and says to me, now get this, your dog can not see. I said yeah that is why I brought her here on Friday. So she looks through the records and says oh yeah right here it is the very first line. So I go to work and my wife calls them in the meantime. They want to talk to someone at 4pm about my dog and will not tell her anything over the phone. Well I go there at 4pm and I meet another Vet who I thought was much more knowledgeable and personable than Dr.French. She informed me that my dog has Glaucoma and the pressure is severe. Anyways she gives me pills and eye drops and said to come back on Friday. My wife brings her on Friday and my wife says they basically did nothing and told her nothing. Dr. French looked at her eyes and said to come back in a week.

So here is where it gets good. I bring my dog in today for the second checkup. Talking with the assistant she mentions that the pressure in my dogs eyes are still severe. So I was thinking to myself why didn't my wife tell me that? Talking with my wife she didn't tell me because they did not do it. In case you are wondering they numb the eyes with drops and check for pressure and my wife insists they did no such thing. So either the vet was lying or there is sever lack of communication on their part and apparently looking back at my story it is not the first time. So I wait in the room for the Dr. French. She comes in and throws this piece of paper at me (it's my bad review online) and says you need to leave and find yourself another place to bring your animals. I asked her if I could explain and that I would retract my complaint if she listened. She said she did not care and if I did not leave she would call the police. Can you believe that? I said fine but I would like my animals records and she said sure 25 cents a copy and I said OK. She then says that she has 10 days to give them to me and to come back in 10 days to get them.

Now mind you this is a doctor of animal medicine that refused to care for a distraught dog because of a review on a website. The maturity level of a 13 year old spoiled brat is not the way to communicate with irate customers. Talking and listening is the best way. If she had listened to my complaint and said to me that she will see my dog this visit but would prefer for us to not come back then that is what a mature person does.

Now I have a dog that has Glaucoma with potential rupturing of the eyes and no records of anything to bring to another Vet for 10 days. By then she could very well die.

If this is a "Vet" you want to bring your animals to then you need to rethink your morals. Not only is she all about money but clearly does not care of the well being of the animals in her care. Also she does not properly train her staff obviously by the lack of communication and/or lies that was told to us. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET!!!

I have been a loyal client of JAC for over 10 years. I was with them before they got their new location on RT29, when they were by the car dealer. I have brought several of my animals throughout life to this vet and had no issues. They are not the cheapest in town, and it??s a drive from Amsterdam to them but it??s about sticking with who you think is good. In my opinion and based on my personal experience Dr. French is top-notch. All of my dogs have been healthy; my first dog lived until she was 13 yrs old when heart failure took her from me. She was under JAC??s care for the whole 13 years of her life since she was 6 weeks old. Now I bring my new animal family to her. They truly care about what??s best for the animal and that??s why I drive the 15-20minutes to see them. Dr. French may seem cold at first but it??s her personality and she doesn??t sugar coat things. She always gives good advice and I??m more than happy to follow it.

I took my parents dog here when his Pancreas was failing. They took him in, and kept him for a few days and he was healthy and happy after the treatment. It's not about the money to them. They want to help the animals, and will do what they can to help.

My 13 yr old dog had bladder cancer....they removed the tumor but told me that it would grow back very quickly. Then they offered a treatment, it was experimental, but all the material looked very promising. I dont know what happened but after 3 treatments, they sent my dog home when she couldnt walk or hold her head up, this hadnt happened before with this treatment. We were told it was the anesthesia, well she died within 2 hrs of us getting her home. I tried calling the doctor several times and she never had the courtesy of even returning my call. All I got was excuses, and my dog should never have been sent home and I blame myself for trusting them to take care of her. NEVER again, my other dog will be going to burnt hills, even tho its an hr away. I dont care about the money or even that they couldnt save her, I knew she was terminal....but to send her home that like was irresponsible and cruel. If your pets are family, like they are to me....find another vet to take care of them

Two weeks ago my dog came down with bloat. His regular vet siad he did not have an opening, numberous other vets said the same.....Johnstown Animal Clinic took him in IMMEDIATELY!!
Sadly, he did not make it, but the kind people there relieved his suffering, were kind and compassionate, and put up with me, as I was very upset and frantic. Wonderful staff...hoping they let my vets become their regular patients!

I am on my way back to the clinic so that Dr. French can work her magic with yet another sick turtle that I have "adopted" She is fabulous, and so are the staff.
I see a lot of complaints about money on here, but you wouldn't run a business for nothing. This isn't charity. If you cannot afford a pet, don't get one!!!
I think the rates are very reasonable, and I am a single working mom of 5 children.
Thanks for all you've done for me and my turtles, Dr. French!! =]

I am an employee of the Johnstown Animal Clinic. I have read these reviews and feel everyone is entitled to his own opinion. We try our very best to care for each and every individual pet in the same manner. Unfortunatly many people have different financial situations. We aare all strapped for cash and Dr. French does her very best to accomidate everyofamily pets. ne and help in these emergency situations. As far as us allowing people pets to die, and being negiligent in care, thats totally untrue. many people wait a little too long to bring their pet in to see us when they are sick and this unfortuanly results in death in some cases. We try very hard to please our clients and their pets. For every 1 person who writes a horrible review, we gain another 4-6 clients per day. So it turns out we must not be so horrible. Please come experience our facility and our pet care before judging based on these reviews. Thanks and we hope to see you soon. :)

I absolutely love the Clinic. My only problem with them was when my cat, Bagheera was ill, and I called to get him in for an emergency visit (8am) and I was told that the Vet was not in. I ended up having to take him to another vet to have him put down. Other than that incident, I absolutely LOVE the clinic. Dr. French is wonderful and manages a busy clinic well. I loved meeting her lovely pig Harry who loves to come say hi to all the patients. As far as being unreasonable, my Cat once had a severe UTI and was super sick, I was tight on money...they let me post date checks. Not to many places would do that....

I heard terrible things about Dr. French, but I brought a turtle to her that was nearly dead and she was wonderful and knowledgable, and the turtle is doing very well. I now have adopted another neglected turtle, and she is on her way to recovery thanks to Dr. French. I would recommend them to anyone who loves their animal. I see how great they are with the animals and the customers.

Dr. French has a very cold, clip manner. Can't find anything wrong with her knowledge. Witnessed a financially strapped customer at wits end and the front staff were very cold and uncaring, having added charges without informing her first. Definitely switching to another vet.

They are great at fitting you in on a moments notice for emergencies and non-emergencies. The places is neat and tidy. They have a fair selection of other pet needs such as food and flea products. The staff is friendly and prices fair.

It is impossible for any business to please all their clients. I and my family have had wonderful experiences with Dr. French and her Johnstown Animal Clinic. I would and have recommend this clinic to anyone. I am an RN, I know something about medicine. Good outcomes are not always possible, this can lead to bad feelings from other reviewers, but we experienced the skill and compassion of Dr. French personally. I give them top marks. Alot of people in this town trust Dr French with their pets, I am one of them. Recommended.

Don't bring your animal here!! Unless you want to take a chance on it dying. Seriously! I've had horrendous experiences with them and I know a LOT of my friends have as well. They kill people's pets! They are unskilled and don't care about the animals at all. The only reason anybody goes there is because it is right in town and close by. If you take your pet there please find another vet for the love of your pet. They love to do "exploratory surgery" and charge for stuff you pet doesn't need done also. Too many bad experiences to list.
