This place plays GREAT music! Cover is $5 for a Saturday night and the bartenders were pretty cool but then again, my friends told them it was my birthday and I got FREE DRINKS!
YAY FOR FREE DRINKS!
They have two floors so the girls and I migrated constantly between the two where the music ranged from old school hip hop to some bumpin' electro. This place makes people move which is good since I didn't notice anyone standing around staring at people dance which is creepy.
Drinks are relatively inexpensive ranging from $5 - 10 which is pretty good in my opinion. I'd definitely come back even though it caters to an early 20s crowd.
I've been to this lounge several times and have always had a good time. there is a $5 dollar cover to get in. Which considering its NYC it's like nothing. It is a bar lounge and the decor is a little cheesy but really you're there to have a good time not to stand and stare at the wall. I haven't been there since my favorite DJ is no longer there on sat so that's a downer. This place has three floors. Usually they have house and old school hip-hop on the first and top40s/hip-hop-/pop on the second but that can be differnet depending on the DJ. Basement has coat check($3) and bathroom. The crowds here are really mixed. So on any given Friday or Sat its a different crowd. This is a popular place because of is vibe so it WILL get crowded. The bouncers are not pretentious rude a-holes which is a big plus. They are always patrolling around the crowd and on hand if you ever have a problem. I've been there on a Wednesday and its a house/soul/funk kind of day but its really cool and laid back. Awesome place to hang out.
Great 2 for 1 happy hour until 8 on everything brings the local drinking crew in early. Stop in before 8 for a couple of martinis. But later it changes to a cool lounge/club vibe with DJ's upstairs and downstairs, gets crowded on the weekends but there's lots of dancing so it keeps moving. Good bartenders, well run place. It's the kind of place you go to chill and hear house music or sometimes hip-hop. An easy going crowd. The owner's very friendly. Good times all around.
While visiting with relatives in the city over the Memorial Day weekend, I happened to stumble into Sin Sin while bar hopping throughout the city. Sin Sin is a bit unassuming, but I am SOOO happy that we ended up here. The music was great, in comparison to a few of the spots we visited located in the same area. The crowd was very laid back, and the staff was very friendly. Our server was very attentive, but so many other great things overshadowed this minor setback.
Pros: mixed crowd; awesome range of music
Cons: server wasn't too attentive
i had checked out all of the other affiliate venues (i.e. katra, taj and bar 12), and finally gave sin sin a GO!
sin sin is definitely the "go to" spot if you're looking for a great end of the week party. my friends and i loved sin sin so much this past friday, that we decided to return on saturday. our plans to go to miami for the weekend were ditched at the last minute, but all was made right for us with the awesome drinks and food at sin sin.
heading back this weekend!
Pros: MUSIC baby!
Cons: crowd :|
Ace of Base "The Sign"? Salt-N-Peppa "Whatta Man"? Skee-Lo "I Wish"? Montell Williams "This is How We Do It?"
Is Sin Sin a magical time machine that has transported me back to the 1990s??? If so, fantastico!!!!!! I haven't heard this amazing assortment of 90s jams since, well, the 90s!
Crowd: nothing to get jazzed about (usually an assortment of birthday parties and bachelorette parties)
Drinks: hit or miss. B+ on price. A+ on bartender friendliness (left her a hefty tip for letting me try the "coffee patron" for the first time).
Door: I got there at 12:15 and the list closed at 12am... I was still let in for free so I give the bouncer/door ppl an A+. i dont pay cover to go to places so that rocked!
Music: If you enjoy the songs mentioned at the top of this review, you'll LOVE IT! I sure did!! Thumbs up sin sin !
Pros: Great Music and Bartenders
You either love it or hate it, wither way WEDNESDAY night is the night to go. I almost hate to let this cat out of the bag because it's basically a locals party on Wednesdays and, I was told, it's rare for them to see newbies.
I COMPLETELY understand why this place gets some BAD reviews- it's not the nicest venue and at times it can get a little crowed, but hey its a CLUB what did you expect?
I had such a good time and whenever I think of this place I get the NYC-nostalgia that you get when you leave.
The Wednesday crowd is basically a bunch of professional/street dancers that dance house. It is SO amazing because they move like NOTHING you have ever seen before.
I've been to a lot of dance parties in my life and seen a lot of genres, but the way they move their bodies is insane and definitely is a once in a lifetime (or weekly if you live in NY- haha) experience.
The crowd is real friendly and will chat you up, ESPECIALLY if they don't recognize you (which is, I suppose not a suprise in NYC) and the bar staff is just super cool and there is no pressure to overdo it with the booze because it's just an awesome house party.
LOVE this place.
yeah Sin Sin iam giving you 5 stars ..
I am mostly reviewing the Soulgasm party that has been happening there every Wednesday for the last 3 years ... If you like dancing just freakin go there. People are extremely nice the house music is soulfull and people are dancing like they were going to die tomorrow. The whole New York house dancing scene gather there every Wednesday : Breakers, lockers, poppers, gay-voguers, footworkers everybody shows up and everybody dance in such a great atmosphere.
Ejoe Wilson ( check him out on youtube) is one of the greatest dancer in history and with Red and Brian he gave birth to a GREAT PARTY
If you like any kind of dancing : Give it a try around midnite on Wednesday and you will not be disapointed .. drinks are good and cheap and even more importantly if u like dancing alone in your living room because you are the worst dancer ever : do not worry NOBODY will make fun of you or judge you or anything
I can guarantee that you will have fun
Pros: great fun
This place was sOooOooOooOoo good!!!
Where the hell is the door girl ?? Heard she's not there anymore.
Pros: Dive Bar
Cons: Security, extremely packed, confused staff
I celebrated my bday here last December and I had a good time. The employees made my birthday nice and stood true to their word and gave me a complimentary champagne bottle because I brought 15 friends! The manager even gave me free drink tickets because it was my birthday! Their cocktails/drinks were great and were worth the money. There was also no charge to get in, so no complaints! The only two things i didnt like was the crowd and the music. The crowd could have been more classier. The crowd looked a lil nerdy. The DJ also should have played Top 40, house music, hip hop all mixed together. Instead, from what I remember they played a lot of old mashups mixed in with some new. But other than that, this place was nice.
Pros: atmosphere, great look, hookah, good customer service
Cons: music, crowd
I threw a birthday party here for 30+ ppl. $50 got us a small cordoned-off area with a couch with seats for about 6 people. It was a bit crowded, but the makeshift dance floor was enough room. The DJ was awesome, playing a good mix of hip-hop from the 90s to today. We didn't get the free champagne bottle advertised on the website, though. Still, a good time was had by all.
Pros: Great music, down-to-earth employees
Cons: bit crowded, little too loud at times
I have only come here for their weekly Drum n' Base/House party on Tuesdays so that is what I'm basing my review on.
Sin Sin is the THE spot on Tuesday nights for electronic music fans. Their Camoflauge party has a great rotating lineup of DJs, including some big names in the Drum n' Base world.
The decor is a little cheesy, but at least the music is great, there's a lot of energy, and there's plenty of space to mingle and dance. Drinks are pretty reasonable and the bartenders are super sweet.
Cool chill spot for happy hour. I had a good time and the drinks were a good price.
So i stopped by sin sin not knowing what to expect. Im usually a marquee or mansion type of guy but my boy had his yearly get together there and let me tell you the vibe is sooooo chill. Its not ur average club. Two floors and different DJ's kept me guessing all night. They played all the great hip hop classics that for some reason fall off every mainstream dj's play list. The batenders are extra attentive and I even had a chance to speak to the manager (who btw never gave me her number even after i hounded her for three hours) she took care of my boys and made sure we were all plastered by the end of the night. This place is lost in a corner of LES and thanx to citysearch i found it and plan on visiting again for drinks and for the managers number. Thanx nikki for an awsome night. See u soon.
Pros: 2 floors with 2 different djs, great bartenders, nikki
Cons: she didn't give me her number!
My friend and I were on the lower east side and stumbled upon sin sin. We decided to stop by and check out the venue just for a drink. We ended up staying the whole night! The staff was amazing! The drinks were delicious and the crowd was great! Definitly coming back! I had an amazing time! I recommend it to everyone!
I researched for a long time to find a great place in the city for my bday. This place offered the best deal and had great reviews... def earned. This place wasn't up-against-the-wall-crowded like a lot of other city places. A majority of the ppl there were there to celebrate birthdays so there weren't a lot of random weirdos trying to dance up on you and bother you. I had a lot of fun with my friends in our reserved section and the dj even played my favorite song even though it "messed up his flow"... hands down great place to have your birthday if you want to dance and have fun with your group of friends.
Pros: intimate but room to party
Cons: incense burning was a bit much
This friday i had a surprise party at Sin Sin for my friends birthday! it took me weeks to find the right place but after reading the reviews on here Sin Sin sounded like the best bet. It was a great party with the best bottle prices that i had seen ever in the city. Everyone came in with no hassle and my bff was really surprised. A couple of people just didnt like the long train ride, from midtown but EVERYONE had a great time! Im already planning on having my birthday here in April.
Pros: Great Music, great bottle prices
Cons: a little far if you dont drive
I go here a lot, almost every other weekend and i really love this place. There is never drama at the door and the music is always good. I have had a few of my friends throw birthdays here and we always have a good time. For the first time i went here for happy hour which was pretty cool. 12 of us came here on a friday 2 weeks ago and really had a great time. I always knew they had great late night parties but the happy hour was pretty awesome! We will be back soon.
Pros: Great happy hour prices
this place is a gem. i recently celebrated my bday and had one of the best nights ever. Nikki, the party planner was an absolute doll. she seated me exactly where i requested, and made sure me and my party was taken care of all night. in the past, i've dealt with diva'd out party planners who can ruin the whole night, not Nikki, not sin sin... will go back and highly recommend. btw, it's hard to find a place that plays awesome music and has hookah.... best combo ever! thx for a great time!
Pros: Music, hookah, excellent service
I had my 24th birthday at sin sin on a Saturday night, Nirav from Jet Set events set me up and did such a fantastic job. My friends and I had a great area with bottle service right across from the bar. I had about 20-25 people, It was perfect for us, it was intimate but with enough room for everyone to move around and dance. It had two floors but we all stayed upstairs since the music was so much fun--definitely the best part. I would absolutely go back and I would totally recommend it for a birthday party.
Pros: Awesome music and service
What made this party work was the people. A special thanks to alejandro and tiara, who were on top of my every request. Also, a special thanks to the support staff - mark at the door, the bouncers who were very understanding, and especially the bartender on the 2nd floor who managed a very crowded floor with grace and a smile. A little booze was enough to drown out the crowd, which was a little too packed, and the music which was a little too loud.
However service this friendly and accommodating is not something experienced very often. 5 stars.
Pros: great party arrangement, terrific customer service all night
Cons: a bit crowded
I love this place, its easy to reserve a table to host a party. I emailed someone on the web site and had a response within 24 hours. Great customer service, bartendars make great drinks. Nice mix of music and diverse crowd is a plus. This was my 2nd time there, the only downside is sometimes it gets waaay too crowded.
Pros: Great Atmosphere, fun music, lots of fun,
Cons: gets way too crowded at times
I HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME ON JULY 3RD!!!I LOVED IT!THE MUSIC AND DRINKS WERE GREAT AND THE WHOLE VIBE AND ENERGY OF THE LOUNGE WAS INCREDIBLE!I WANT TO THANK NIKKI AND STAFF FOR ALLOWING ME TO PARTY THERE!
Pros: GREAT LOUNGE
HAD MY BIRTHDAY AT SIN SIN AND THEY TREATED ME LIKE ROYALTY.I MET NIKKI ONE WEEK PRIOR TO MY PARTY AND SHE TOOK CARE OF EVERY DETAIL.ALL MY FRIENDS HAD A GREAT TIME ALSO.THANK YOU AGAIN .I HAD ORIGINALLY BOOKED A SPOT IN THE MEAT PACKING DISTRICT AND GOT MY RESERVATION CANCELLED SO SIN SIN WAS LIKE FINDING A HIDDEN GEM.
Pros: manager nikki/staff
sin was a great joint to host my bday.from the get go they were very helpful and hosting a great bday for me.thank you nikki for then free booze and i highly recommend sin sin.
i went to sin sin last wednesday and had a fantastic night.both floors had really good music and i danced all night long.the venue is quite small but great fun .the downstairs was one big dance floor and the upstairs was more relaxed.they played alot of old skool jams that i really enjoyed.it was a great night out and i will be back to sin sin on a wednesday for sure.
Pros: djs very good
this venue is always good for the last drink of the night.sin sin always have a good dj on and are always let us stay late.never a shortage of ladies also which is good.
sin sin came very highly recommended by a friend so i made a reservation on line from their website.nikki one of the managers got in contact with me the same day that i submitted my request.she was very helpful from the get go.when i arrived on the night it turned out she was the bartender so she knew my name and all the details i had requested for my party.all my friends arrived on time and got in right away.nikki reserved us an area in the upstairs lounge.i was not charged a fee for the area and did not have to buy bottles .the dj was good and the place has a small dance floor in the middle of the room which was where i spent alot of my time.
sin sin threw a good party and all my friends had fun.me too.thank you nikki and staff for putting up with with me and my drunk friends.
Pros: great dj/good crowd
i was at sin sin for my 25th birthday this year.they reserved me a smallish table next to the dance floor on the lower level.the upstairs is called the leopard lounge and the downstairs is called sin sin.it took me a minute to work this out.the dj played alot of music i loved and i was dancing all night long.we also had hookah pipes at our table that we were only charged for half of them so thank you alejandro (floor guy)who took care of me and my group all night.
the manager who booked me here asked me to write a review if i had a good time and i had a great time so i would recommend the place and go back again.
Pros: the staff
i celebrated my 30th at sin sin and had a great time.the dj was fun and the drinks were fairly priced.me and all my friends had fun.
Pros: cheap drinks/not expensive
i have been going to sin sin for years.they always stay open till late night and there is always a crowd.i was a big fan of le souk on avenue b,now that has gone, sin sin is my spot.
Pros: staff/stays open late
Cons: not enough places like this in town
saturday night was my birthday and sin sin was the dsecided upon spot.i am a new comer to new york and a little nieve in where to hang at the weekends.i found the location on citysearch and had read the reviews of the place .i did think it was a little small upon arrival but what it lacked in size it made up for in character.there where two managers,Alejandro and Nikki.both of these members of staff deserve a mention cause not only did they have ballons for me,get me a cake with my name on it,and get me legless drunk ,they also had to deal with my drunken friends that can be a hugh pain in the behind after a few drinks.even the door men though gigantic in size where great fun and what drunken friends of mine they did ask to leave they did it in a nice way.i would highly recommend sin sin.they took great care of all my guests, not just the birthday girl.
and thank you again Nikki and Alejandro.
Pros: very helpful staff
stumbled upon sin sin late saturday night in a drunken mess.however i do remember having fun dancing until way past 4am.the music was great.i hope i can remeber where it is.
Pros: fun place to dance

Pros: The House Music & Crowd were Fantastic!
Cons: No cons Great space
ended up in sin sin after my party was double booked at a near by spot that i dont want to mention ever again.i had a fun night after a bad start.the place hooked me up with a table for free and the dj took my requests.they keep it simple here which i should have done from the start.
Pros: dj plays hip hop
i held a surprise party for my boyfriend this weekend at sin sin.i reserved the upstairs back private room which was perfect for all my guests to hide in .my boyfriend had no idea about the surprise.nikki the manager was very helpful and made sure all my guests were in the right place at the right time.we stayed all night till closing time and the place was a lot of fun.
i did read read on this site that the place was on the small side which is true but they pulled off a good party for my boys bday.
Pros: very helpful staff
Cons: on the small side
this place was more like webster hall than a low key lounge in the east village.the djs played good music but so loud i could not hear myself think.i will say the staff are friendly but come on are you a club or an east village lounge??
Pros: cool staff
Cons: djs play music too loud
Thank you sin sin for all of your help on Friday night, everyone had an amazing time ! Everything worked out perfectly... my boyfriend loved everything about it the music, atmosphere it was just overall perfect. I look forward in having future events there and will be sure to let everyone know about it !
Pros: Great music, Atmosphere
i have been a customer at sin sin for over seven years.they have kept the same staff and basic theme the whole time which basically is loud dj music in a red lit room with cheap booze ?usually late late night.and for the most part it works but after hosting my third birthday party there which was a great time i have too say guys lets have a revamp.its time for a new look but hopefully the same vibe.i will say the place provides a great night out but i will be seeking another hangout soon.i dont understand why places dont spend money on new additions when they are busy and of course making money.i find this in a lot of venues in the east village.when i ask about this subject they tell me rents are so hight that they cant afford to spend money on the place.
Pros: cheap drinks/cool staff
Cons: dated venue
i mainly only go out on friday and saturday nights until this past wednesday when my cousin dragged me to a place i have never heard of called sin sin and their wednesday night event called soulgasm.it was a blast and very very high energy.very similar to the old shelter just smaller.i did some research and soulgasm has been at sin sin for five years.i dont want to miss another one.
Pros: the music
Cons: needs a bigger dance floor
i was in the east village this past weekend and discovered this joint.the door people were very cool and i stayed all night.i also met alot of women here so i will be back.
Pros: music/cool staff
the upstairs of sin sin just hosted my wifes fundraiser for alocal hospital.the staff were all extremly helpful.we had the room private for four hours and the manager also donated money from the bar from the event.thank you very much leopard lounge for helping us with our yearly bash.
Pros: very hepfull staff
this weekend was my bday at sin.the dj was good and the floor manager was attentive but the place was packed and very loud.maybe im getting old.they made sure all my guests got it and we got a good deal on open bar for two hours but just not enough room.next year i will seek a bigger venue.
Cons: too packed
this place was actually my emergency back up venue for my 30th birthday.the original spot was in the meat packing district and they cancelled my reservation one week prior to my party.so i gave sin a call and thank god i did.they had told me that they had limited space on the date i requested because it was only a week in advance.when i got there they told me that they had a cancellation and my group took up the extra space.the manager on the floor whom i think name was alex was very helpful and plied me free booze all night.the only downside to the lounge is the size, and i was hot also but all of us were dancing all night long.we all had a fantastic night and i highly recommend the place .its not as fancy pants as i wanted but it worked out in the end.
Cons: venue on the small side
This place was great! I was visiting in town and someone recommended this place to us. We had a great time, the music was fantastic and the people were fun. The vibe was not to cool for school, bartenders were fast and attentive. Place was packed but crowd just danced. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT!!!
Pros: fast drink service
Cons: General Manager is married (he's fine)
this past weekend i went to sin sin for after work party.the place was pretty full by the time i got there and there were plenty of ladies floating around.the dj took my request for a bit of old skool hip hop and it was good times after that.i got talking to the manager (nikki) and she asked me to write a review on this website if i enjoyed the night ,and i did.i willl be back.
i just wanted to write and thank you nikki at sin sin for all your help with my party.my guests had a great time and sin sin and the leopard lounge was so so much fun.i definitely plan on coming again in the future.all my guests commented on how nice the staff were the whole night.
everything and everyone was awesome.thanks for your help nikki.i have already recommended sin sin to my friends for their birthday parties.
Pros: awesome staff
i celebrated my bday at sin this past friday.i got a table all night.all my guests had a good time.the bartender upstairs was firing shots our way all night.
thank you sin for a great one.i will be back.
Pros: cheap booze/djs
