granted i live a few doors down but im in love with the place. specials are seasonal so you are going to see local in-season produce on the menu at any given time -- which i love. portions are generous. chef is young, fresh and inventive. Take a look at the features, they are worth a 2nd look. bartenders are friendly. food is consistently good. breads for sandwiches are phenomenal. chicken parm pasta is rich and delicious. the burger is excellent. salads are fantastic and i recommend the house dressing OR their homemade bleu cheese which is to die for. im not a chicken wing fan -- theirs are amazing! bean cakes are a very popular item although not my favorite thing on the menu. menu is also suitable for a snack, sandwich or a wonderful gourmet meal . . . everyone can find something. sunday brunch is very popular so as a regular i stay away from the crowds but its wonderful when friends and family are in town.

also outdoor seating is a great place to enjoy the beautiful hudson valley and adorable cornwall on hudson scene. A+

Excellent food and friendly service in a quaint old inn. The menu is varied and suitable to any taste. The decor features exhibits by local artists. The bar area is smallish but comfortable. If you like to stay there are rooms available upstairs. An altogether enjoyable experience!

This place is great.

The atmosphere is like none other in the area. Artists, young people, and local neighborhood people, all mixed together. It is to hard to describe. Maybe Greenwich Village of the 60's meets Cape Cod, meets Malibu. You don't know if you want to paint, surf, or play a folk song!

The food is great, good sized, and reasonably priced. They have a HUGE beer and beverage list.

The staff is fast and friendly. They are mostly younger, but don't have the lousy attitude you get from some servers at other places.

My husband and I eat at Painters all the time and love it! They have the whole package...great food, friendly service and artsy atmosphere. The artwork displayed through the restaurant is on a rotating basis which keeps it fresh and interesting. The menu changes from time to time and can be described as California cuisine with a twist. I absolutely love their black bean cakes...I live for them really. They also have an extensive variety of beer. I highly reccommend Painters!!!

This restaurant is wonderful and full of artsy things and people. All the art work displayed there is local talent and sometimes you get to meet the artists behind the work, which is fun!

The food fare is also on the artsy side but it is good tasting and rather different.

PROS: Wonderful flavor and art work
CONS: none really at all
