This is the best animal hospital in Queens, We have been taking our cats to Dr. Merker for years. Dr. Merker treated our first beloved cat for years. When he became seriously ill, we took him to Dr. Merker, he performed an exploratory procedure and he called us at home to tell us the our cat was seriously ill and terminal. He waited for us to go to the hosptial to say our final good bye. Our little cat was wrapped in a warm towel and we cried and said good bye. We took as much time as we needed. The staff were so kind and compassionate. We received a consolence card from the hospital. We adoped two little brother cats a few months later and have been taking them to this hospital as well. The waiting room is filled with loving pet owners and the receptionist is a doll. She is friendly and funny and a real animal lover. We are moving away with our two little cats and we know that we will never find a Doctor like Dr. Merker or a more and loving staff than at the Whitestone Animal Hospital. All animal lovers know that giving our furry friends deserve the best medical teatment and you will find it at the Whitestone Medical Hospital

I dont normally take the time to write a review for a place of business, but after bringing in my seriously ill cat to Whitestone Animal Hospital, I wanted people to know about the compassionate Dr's and amazing staff. They were able to save my cat and in the process gained my trust. I would happily recommend them to any concerned pet owner.

My family has used Whitestone Animal Hospital since the 1960s, and out many pets have always been given excellent care. I have boarded my large dogs there many times, and they have always returned home healthy and happy/ Dr. Merker is very compassionate and caring. I have read some comments about "extra testing" being suggested, and I have to comment on that.Last year, Dr. Merker recommended such testing for my apparently healthy 5 year old dog. He was suspicious of a problem, and the testing revealed a very serious (terminal) condition. We were able to treat our beloved dog, and he lived over 18 months despite the seriousness of the condition. Dr. Merker recommended second opinions and consulted specialists on our behalf, and gave us copies of all results, and references.I completely trust Dr. Merker and the staff with the health and care of my three dogs and 5 cats! He has even called us to check on our pets after treatments at emergency centers, and to off condolences when we have lost pets.Thank you Whitestone Animal Hospital.

I have two very large dogs that I have to board from time to time when I go away on business. It breaks my heart to leave them but I know they will be in great hands when they stay at this animal hospital. They always come home healthy and happy! Plus they always come home smelling good also! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a great vet and clean boarding facility!

I have been bringing my pets to Whitestone Animal Hosital for many years and have never been more satisfied with any other veternarians. They have a very caring and warm hearted staff which gives me piece of mind that my pets will be well cared for. I have great confidence in them and will continue leaving my babies in their care!

The main doctor here acts as though he was afraid of the animals brought in, I wouldn't trust him with a cockroach!! Look closely into his eyes and all you will see are dollar signs!

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND TRUST ONLY THESE VETS!
PROS:
1. If the vets do not know what is wrong with your pet they will tell you that they do not know. They will not say anything they do not stand by. The vets offer appropriate testing to then look further into any problem suspected.
2. The staff are hard-working and show interest in your pet being healthy.
3. The hospital has adequate evening and Saturday hours.
4. The staff try to get abandones animals new families.
CONS:
1. The staff tries to sell you extra products or testings in addition to the necessary ones that maintain your pet's general health. Just say 'no thanks' and there's no further pressure. Still a pro though: sometimes these extras are still beneficial!
2. The hospital is always overbooked and you have to wait even though you may have made an appointment.
THAT'S MY LIST. I RECOMMEND WHITESTONE ANIMAL HOSPITAL TO ANYONE IN QUEENS THAT IS LOOKING FOR A VET.

The doctors and staff here are fantastic. I've been bringing my rabbit here for about a year to have his teeth grinded down (he has malocclusion, misalignment of the teeth, just my luck) and my dog for a few months. Everyone is very helpful and kind, and they don't overcharge you for services (although they DO suggest a lot of extras, but you can just turn those down). I would definitely recommend them, especially if you're a crazy, hysterical cat lady, as they seem to specialize in those. I see them in there all the time.

My husband and I adopted a senior chihuahua from Whitestone Animal Hospital. Within a couple weeks he showed signs of sickness. They insisted that he was healthy when they gave him to us and refused to take responsibility. He was diagnosed with severe demodectic mange (fatal to many dogs). They gave him ivermectin and he had such a horrible reaction to it that we had to rush him to an emergency vet at 4AM. He almost died in my arms on the way over to the hospital. Upon returning to complain about what happened to my dog, the vets refused to even reimburse me for the medicine which we paid $100 for and that almost killed my little baby. The reason they gave was that it was opened already and they would not be able to get a credit for it. They did not even care that it was their own vet who opened the bottle, as we had yet to administer any medicine! At this point, our dog's sickness had costed us $4,000 and we have not even had him for a year. We caught the vets in so many lies that day that we have obviously switched to a respectable vet practice. All of our family and friends have also transferred their pets and records to our new vet after seeing what they put us through. We never regretted adopting our little one, but it goes to show you how low these vets will sink in order to dump sick dogs off on caring people.

PROS: the receptionists are the only decent people at this animal hospital
CONS: lack of honesty, knowledge and responsibility
