Carmel Fitness & Racquet Club

If you like listening to Bill O'Reilly while you work out, this is the club for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere. Most members will compromise on TV program selection. When the O'Reilly boys are working out, you are forced to listen or leave.

I have been a member off and on for six years. Recently, I have been harassed and intimidated by a fellow member. I have made several complaints to the staff and ownership of this club which has fallen on deaf ears. I was consistently told that the owners would take care of it and then nothing was ever done. Unfortunately, I now have to leave this gym which I did at one time enjoy greatly. However, I can no longer be exposed to the verbal and visual abuse of a fellow member. Please, be advised that while personality conflicts do occur at gyms no one should have to feel unsafe or uncomfortable while working out.

I have been a member of the club for 5 years now, and only stayed because it was the only local place with an indoor pool. However, the club now has a new owner who is making some great changes and improvements! All areas are undergoing renovation, and the environment is much cleaner and more inviting! If you've been in the past, come for another look.

My husband found this place and went for a few months while i went to Golds Gym. He always came home feeling good talking about how he met this person and that person, and our 5 year old son had a ball. The staff there is great. Other places just say hi and thats it Where as in Carmel fitness they ask how are you, how was your day. When i went there with my husband seeing all of this i switched. My 5 year old has learned to play tennis,and swim. The pool area does not smell badly, of course you will smell chlorine(dah your at a pool area). The place is going to get a face lift you just need to give the new owner time to put together what is important. The first is its members safety then appeal. I and my english husband and my 5 year old thanks you Nicky and your staff for being there for us.

I have been a member for 3 months now, and although this club is old, the staff and the actual equipment make up the difference. The cost is well within range for this type of club. The positives of the club are the numerous treadmills, pool, 2 racquetball courts, basketball courts, sauna and many, many fitness classes at no addtional charge. The staff is friendly and helpful. The negatives are the lack of sufficient heat, not very modern, extra fee to utilize tennis courts, showers are not the most modern. But otherwise well worth the money.

My husband and I were new to the area and wanted to join a local health club. After reviewing the different local clubs we decided on Carmel Fitness and Racquet Club. After reading the few reviews on this page we tend to disagree for a few reasons. Sure the club needs work and updating -the bathroom maintenance and the decor could be improved and the lighting might not be the best. There are children running around (after all this is a family club) and you will not get an overpriced spa treatment here. However, the machines are plenty and the classes are challenging. The staff and the members are super nice and friendly and we have felt like we were in a home away from home. We have been members to a multitude of gyms and this is by far our most enjoyable experience in a health club.. There is no snottiness here and you can relax and enjoy your workout. So if your looking for a pristine, uptight, snobby environment with state of the art facilities, this is not the place for you. But if you are like us, and just looking for a basic health club with a nice, homey feeling, join Carmel Fitness and Racquet Club.. You'll be glad you did. (P.S.My husband also wanted to mention that we meet quality people here that have become our friends).

Our family joined five years ago and are very happy with Carmel Fitness. It has everything under one roof. I took up tennis and my kids have learned to swim there. They offer so many gruop fitness classes that we are never bored. I found the staff to be very friendly and always helpful.I give it thumbs up!

We visited looking for a local facility and found this club depressingly dark and poorly lit. It would be like coming to work in an underground bunker. The pool area smelled oppressively of too much chlorine and the windows were all filled with foggy haze, restricting natural light.

The overall feeling was simply unpleasant, as was the warehouse-like dim mercury vapor lighting in the main exercise areas.

Carmel needs much better, We went elsewhere.

My experience here was not a pleasurable one. The facility is not clean and you do not feel as though you are in a professionally run club. There are children running and yelling thropugh the shower & changing area and the facility itself needs to be updated. It is generally worn and unclean. You can get a lot more for your money at other local facilities.
