Murray Hill Pet Hospital is the best!
by Aron K.
I cannot believe some of the reviews on here about Murray Hill Pet Hospital. I have been going there for 3 years and have never had a bad experience and have been there an awful lot because I have 2 older animals (as well as a puppy) who require a lot of treatments. I am at the dog park frequently and everyone there raves about Dr. Dan and the staff. I have yet to meet anyone who has ever had a problem and wonder if the negative reviews are from an disgruntled former employee? I also know that they do charity work all the time and Mayor's alliance loves them, I know because I rescued my last cat from them and there was definitely records kept on my cat!

Murray Hill Pet Hospital need new staff!
by susan w.
Took my pup for a routine checkup and Doctor seemed nice enough, however, front desk is without question the WORST I've ever encountered. I would not recommend this practice as I expect to be treated respectfully by the doctors' staff too. The office administrators are without question the rudest I have ever encountered. Nasty, smug behavior just does not work for me, especially in a doctors office where kindness, sensitivity and customer service above all should reign supreme.

Its All About Dr. Dan
by Ronni D.
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences and kind and sensitive attention from Dr.Dan. My 12 year old bichon had back leg weakness and could not even climb the stairs. He did stage by stage testing and we found bladder stones which, once removed brought her back to her normal boyant self. I was so overwhelmed I sent them a gift basket!
He answers my calls on a timely basis, is open to discussion on course of treatment and is all around professional and capable as they come.
I am sorry if someone was turned away due to a lack of money...and I don't condone that at all- but even Animal Medical Center refuses any treatment without a substantial financial guarentee with credit card or cash.
In that case, friends and family should come to your rescue- not a vet. I had a friend who faced that, and I went right over to the hospital and gave them my credit card so they would tend to her sick dog.
I recommend everyone to Dr.Dan and will continue to do so...he is a wonderful vet and a nice guy too!

Excellent & Caring Service By Dr. Dan
by Andre K.
I live around the corner, and recently got a new puppy. From the the very beginning of getting the previous vet's records, to caring for my dog, the service has been top notch.
And the administrators (Joan especially), have been very professional and helpful.
What made me want to actually write a review was the fact that Dr. Dan ALWAYS finds time for my questions and concerns, even without appointments.
Plus he is caring and knowledgeable, having quickly diagnosed and solved problems my puppy was having.
I almost never write reviews, but I had to comment because the negative comments are nothing like the GOOD experience I have had with this vet.

Would not recommend them to any one

I live next door & have taken my little dog to them about 4 to 5 times. It has been convenient for me because it is next door but every time my experience has been bad. There is a lady by the name of Joan O'brien who is the practice manager & she is the most unpleasant person and is just simply rude and not willing to help. She appears to have been there for the last 12 years & is the staple of the hospital as their website describes her. The first time I had a bad experience was when my groomer rejected my dog because they called the vet and it appeared my 3 pound dog did not have all it's shots. I Tried calling Dr. Dan & Joan is the individual that answered. She insisted that the information she gave my groomer was correct and that I was in the wrong. As it turned out my dog had received a 3 year shot not a one year shot and was not due for one for another year. I guess she could not read the file correctly. Today I took my dog in because I ordered his yearly heart guard medicine and 1800petmeds said my vet declined it. I made an appointment at my vet and when I arrived at my appointment she was there, I asked her what happened? she said that it was their policy and they could not approve it because they did not know that the dog was on heart Guard yet they are the ones that sold me my first box 3 years ago and approved another year last year of my online order but they did not know that my dog was on heart guard. She didn't open my dogs file to look into the matter any further and simply said this is how we do it here and its our standard. I asked to speak to the doctor and she proceeded to go in to get him the only problem was she left the door open and I could hear everything she was saying to him. For being there for 12 years she sure does not comport her self like the staple of the hospital. The bad thing is Dr. Dan is a good doctor and has lost a client because of Joan. When I told her that I would not be keeping my appointment after this incident she simply just said ok. What ever happened to teaching Customer service to the employees. It goes a long way. Looking into a matter could also prevent something bad from happening. These two example are small careless mistakes but next time it could cost your pets life.

WITNESS TO AVARICE

About 4 years ago, my cat had pyometra and I brought her in to the Murry Hill Animal Hospital. I was out of work at that time with barely enough money for rent but I figured they were across the street from me and I'm sure that I could make some kind of deal with them -- I was pretty desperate. They turned us away from lack of money, it was late at night and I had to wait the next day. I brought her to the Humane Society and they said it was too late for her, had I brought her in the day before, she would have lived. They're all about the money, Anonymous is right, without the $$, they don't bother and don't care. I totally understand it's a business, but even doctors provide health service at clinics for the poor and lawyers do probono work, they couldn't find it in their hearts even when I offered to pay some amount from my unemployment check. She died because of their greed.

Great Care
by Sue M.
Since I've been taking my dogs from day one to Dr. Dan they've gotten nothing but the best treatment and care and a bonus his prices are not outrageous like most vets in NYC. He truly gives thorough care to your animal. I've heard this said to me time and time again and clearly I concur. Cheers to happy health to your animal(s).

The Opinion of a 16 year Patient
by Randy Q.
Sadly - only people who are angry take the time to write a review. I dont know what happened to "anonymous" on that ONE occasion. I believe it is called "ring and run" when you slam somebody without giving your name.
Here is my story of Murray Hill Pet Hospital, it is a story that took 16 years to write I know these people.
I brought my cat (Townie) there 16 years ago and throughout his life they were the best. They have Townies records going all the way back to the first visit. Dr. Lauridia is wonderful with the animals; he really loves them and knows what he is doing. Every time I brought my cat in, the appointments were always on time, I never had to wait excessively and the examinations were thorough, friendly and professionally conducted.
I had to let my cat go yesterday. At the ripe old age of 19 years, I had to say goodbye. Throughout his last check ups and tests, as the results were coming back worse and worse, Dr. Dan treated me as a friend, showed me so much empathy and gave me the information I needed to make this hard decision.
Yesterday he helped me release Townie from his pain. It was as hard as the day I buried my father. Dr. Dan and the whole staff were wonderful. They not only empathized, but they were genuinely sorry to see Townie go as well. They had many years of his visits, because they were a big part of his incredible longevity.
You should treat yourself and your pet not only to their fine professional care, but to the gift of the friendship of these good people.

not impressed
by Anonymous
this is the vet that the Mayor's Alliance uses. I brought in a rescue and I was told the cat would never be friendly (it is super friendly now and a total lap cat) and then when I called to get more clavamox for his upper respiratory infection they had no record of him. Apparently this has happened with other rescuers and it is clear they feel that these animals are not worthy of their time or worth keep records on. I felt they felt the cat was unimportant ultimately.

Dr Nulton is awesome
by dubdub
My dog has been a patient of Dr. Nulton's prior to her joining Murray Hill Pet Hospital several years ago. She is the best vet I've ever had - and as pet owners know, finding a vet whom you can trust completely is a daunting task - so we didn't even think twice about following her to this practice.
She is compassionate, knowledgeable & is honest about what treatments / shots are absolutely necessary. I left NY a few years ago for grad school & found an alternate vet (whom I despise); I've called Dr. Nulton for 2nd opinions & she promptly called me back every time. I always felt like she had my dog's best interest at heart.
