I took my grand nephew to this Bowlmor yesterday after school. I was appalled! For $26.00 for two per game, I expect at least the equipment to work. We waited a long time for someone to repair the lane. Also we were placed next to a party of five year olds who kept running in our lane area. The shoes were worn out that I rented, not sure about my nephews, and most of all the food service was so slow and unresponsive. There seems to be a lack of overall management of this place. And this was a Friday, no less!

No thanks to Bowlmor! Next time I am going to do my bowling in Queens where the cost is less than half per game and the service much more efficient. Get your act together Bowlmor.

I went here for the unlimited bowling and shoe rentals last Monday ($24) and had a really great time. The waitress was incredibly friendly and on top of her sh*t. The food was really great - I would suggest the sliders.

Overall fun was had by our entire group and I would for sure recommend this as an alternative to the bar.

Kind of hard to mess up bowling with friends but this place made a casual enjoyable night even better.

Planned my nephew's surprised 12th birthday last week at Bowlmor and it was great. My sis and I called in advance and spoke to an event coordinator since it was 30 kids in total. They were super friendly in helping us pick the right package. Our waitress was really friendly and kept coming to our lanes to make sure the kids have enough soda and food. Overall everything was all we could asked for...only thing that it was a little on the pricey side. But totally worth it!

Bowlmor is the best bowling alley in the city! I have been to several parties over the past few years and never once had a problem. The atmosphere is awesome; with great music and glow in the dark bowling you can't go wrong. I definitely recommend the nachos!

Bowlmor took bowling to the next level the neon lights the video screens at the end of your lanes so you can watch the game while you are bowling. Good choices for food, pizza, wings, burgers, egg rolls, mozzarella sticks. Waitress comes right to your lane. Very accommodating.

Bowlmor is fun! Its a permanent disco bowl theme, where there are blacklights and blinking lane lights. Huge screens everywhere you look, we had nachos from the menu, and they were delicious and piled so high. Im not a great bowler but i still had a great time. High score 86.

So I was a little put off when I arrived. I almost missed the entrance. It is a small doorway leading to a very old fashioned elevator with an elevator door man. He manually designates our destination. But when he opened the rusty, old, antiquated elevator door it was like stepping into a wonderland of a bowlers' dream.
Its carpet and walls are dark and tasteful. Its not until you turn the corner that the laser lights from inside fan you with an amazing fantasy!
Its got a full bar, full of friendly and helpful service. They are all dressed in costumed uniforms just like you would see in a film from the thirties. They have great specials on drinks and bowling. It's so unexpected to find in the middle of NYC. I enjoyed myself so much, I intend to bring my friends and family here. Its a great place to bring the kids or even just adult friends. The food is great, the drinks delicious, quick service, and catering management. I AM COMING BACK!!!!

I had the most amazing time here this past weekend. I went there with some of my buddies and we had a blast. Not pretentious, not too pricey, and there were a ton of hot chicks to go around. Guy's, if your looking to have fun, bowl a few games and mingle with some of New York's hottest girls, you can't do better then this place. Try Carnival too, too cool to explain....you have to see it!!!

I recently came here with my co-workers and we can't wait to come back again. The event planners who help you set everything up really take care of every detail so all you have to do is show up and have an amazing time. Come here on a Friday or Saturday night and go up to their awesome new night club, Carnival after you bowl!

I came to Bowlmor recently for my brother's birthday. I was expecting a traditional bowling alley with greasy food and weird old men... but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this bowling alley was different. The cosmic, glow-in-the-dark bowling is awesome. They have hip music that transforms the bowling alley into more of a bar/night club. The staff, from the front desk to the management, are friendly and prompt with their service.

All in all, Bowlmor was a great place!! My brother was extremely happy with where he chose for his party.

Went to Bowlmor for the first time last weekend turned out to be so much fun! It??s something different than going to some bar just sitting around talking with friends. We heard it gets pretty packed there so we called to see how long the wait would be on a Saturday night. The operator recommended a reservation, I seriously wanted to laugh at thinking you needed a reservation for bowling but it was worth every penny, two and half hour of unlimited use of your lanes without waiting. Amazing!

Me and some of my co-workers went to Bowlmor after work for some drinks and bowling. It was the perfect after-work situation, since there was more to do than just drinking. It was a good chance to bond and have some fun outside of work. The lane-side service was great, the drinks were a little pricey, compared to your regular watering hole so we just stuck with pitchers of beer. The atmosphere was worth it though, they had a good crowd and like I said before the service was great. We will definitely be back and most likely host our annual summer office outing here.

My daughter's friends all had bowling parties, so she wanted one as well. One of my co-workers suggested Bowlmor so I called up to see my options. The event consultant was excellent, she went over all the packages, options and prices. I ended up booking the "Carny/Bowl Package", where the kids would get to bowl and then go upstairs to Carnival to play some games. They really took care of everything, from the invitations to the cake. The service was excellent, the kids had a blast and so did all the parents - we also got to bowl, alongside the kids! I highly recommend Bowlmor to parents, looking to plan a great party for their child.

Me and some of my girls wanted to do something fun and different so we decided to go bowling. We went on a Monday night and they were having a special, so right from the start things were going well. We had to wait a little because it was super busy but we just hung at the bar so it wasn't a big deal - we all got to catch up. We ended up playing two games, having some drinks and pizza. Our waitress was great and although we are horrible bowlers, I don't think we all laughed that hard in awhile! The con - honestly I hate bowling shoes - that was my only complaint.

I really don't understand why there are so many bad reviews. Its Bowling... so if you don't have a good time, then that's your fault.

I really enjoy Bowlmor. Its cosmic bowling, with good food, music, and really friendly service. The difference between Bowlmor and other bowling alleys in New York, is that Bowlmor strives to be the "upscale nightclub" atmosphere that you would expect to find in Manhattan. I must admit that this is the reason I like Bowlmor so much!

It's a great place to bring a date, or friends, and during the day is more laid back for your family.

I definitely recommend Bowlmor.

So overpriced for crappy lanes. Definitely not worth your money. If you're a bowler, you wont do good cause that pillar is in the way. $13 per game is so overpriced, there are way better lanes and cheaper eslewhere.

I live near Union Square so I thought it would be fun to try this place out with some friends. Dispite all previous comments, we all had a really good time. There wasn't a problem getting in and I hate to throw this in here but, most of my group and I are spanish, so I don't think racism is an issue here (maybe it really is the way you're dressed or just a bad attitude). My friends and I haven't been bowling in years so it was fun, we had a couple of beers and some apps.

As far as the price - all I have to say is that its Manhattan - nothing I wouldn't expect anywhere else in the city.

Food - It was not a 5 star restaurant but it was bar food, we weren't there to eat so it was fine.

Service - The service was good, our server was nice and pretty accommodating

If you're looking to have a good time with a bunch of friends, bowling, drinks and food worked out well here for us!

Horrible. I would leave NO stars if I could. Arrogant, obnoxious door man. Rude Staff. I went with a group of six. We were all put off by the attitude. Everything here is OVERPRICED. And yes, we all have jobs. Basically the vibe = Bowlmor Lanes crew behaved as if they were doing us a favor by letting us into this place and giving us any kind of service. We don't know if it had anything to do with two of our party being Black and Hispanic?
The drinks were weak and the food quality questionable. Not too mention, the music was too loud so we had to yell at each other. The attitude of the staff put us off tremendously. When we left we felt ripped off. I am too embarrassed to say how much Bowlmor robbed us for...Definitely overrated. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP. There are SO MANY BETTER PLACES TO CHOOSE FROM. I don't understand why anyone would give this place a good rating...We are not into being ripped off to be treated like dirt.

I went to Bowlmor this past Friday night to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. Myself and the group I was with arrived early so decided to wait for everyone else upstair in the lounge. I've never before heard of paying a cover to get into another room within one establishment, but ok fine we are willing to pay. The bouncer tells us that one of my friends will not be allowed upstair because his jeans are too baggy. His jeans were loose fitting but I would not say baggy and he had a belt so they were at his waist. I asked to speak to a manager who assesed the situaton and decided the jeans were not baggy but said they would still not be able to go upstairs because they were wearing sneakers. Clearly if the bouncer and the manager have different perceptions of what is passable, there is no real standard for their dresscode which is silly and unprofessional. Although this turned us off early on we stayed and bolwed. Throughout the night our group was played close by the management, constantly having people come over to us to remind us of the time, or tell us we could not play anymore games. We ended up spending hundreds of dollars that night including $170 on two huge fishbowls. At the end of the night there was some drama because we wanted to take the fishbowl our but they said it was not allowed. However the issue quickly changed to how we were being treated in regards to this situation. The management, especially one particular bouncer were completely rude and nasty and treated us as if we were second class patrons. I hate to pull the race card but I feel as if this is one incident where it is necessary. I had a horrible experience and would NEVER go back there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I have never been so disgusted by an establishment and the only reason I even give it one star is because citysearch requires that as a minimum. They clearly want a certain crowd and cater to a cetain type of patron. Not even their music was diverse. I later heard that there is currently a law suit pending against them by people with similar claims of racism and profiling. it's just too bad they beat me to it.

So I went to Bowlmor with some friends this past weekend and we had so much fun! It was my first time going, so I didn't know what to expect, but from the minute we walked in, it was amazing. They had a guy that took you up there ( which I thought was pretty cool) and the staff was pretty nice, I couldn't stop looking around at everything! We all enjoyed some bowling, food and drinks - which were a little on the pricey side - but to me it is understandable - it is New York.

I would recommend this place to those looking to do something different and fun with some friends.

I was really please to have plan my son's 10th birthday at Bowlmor Lanes. After searching all over the city, my co-worker had recommend that I looked into Bowlmor Lanes. I stopped in there and took a tour of the space. I was introduced to an event planner which sat me down and gave me a few different options. We decided the kids would bowl and eat then were able to play at Carnival upstairs. Overall the price worked out within our budget and everyone had fun. Thanks so much!

My best friend and i decided to organize a get together since we had friends from college visiting. It ended up raining and we cancel our plans to go bar hopping. Since we live around the corner from bowlmor...we decided to go bowling. Turned out the place was packed. The hostess was nice enough to accommodate our group...we only had to wait for 15 mins. The service overall was exception which is always rare in NYC these days!

Last week we were in the union square area and walked passed Bowlmor. After the movies, we stopped in and decided to bowl for a bit. The place was PACKED! It was in it's own little world. Although it was little on the pricey, we found out that Monday night there's some type of special deal there.

We had a great experience at Bowlmor last weekend. We have been planning our company's party for over 3 weeks. The event planner was so helpful in getting us setup...working with our budget. When we arrived...the hostess escorted all of us to the lanes and made sure that there was enough food and drinks for our party. Overall...definitely recommended!!

We celebrated our friend's birthday at Bowlmor. Instead of the usual nightclubs...we went with Bowlmor. We called up to reserved 4 lanes. The lady in the office was so helpful in setting everything up. When we arrived the hostess sat us immediately. Overall it was a great time. Definitely recommend it to everyone else.

This "racist" accusation is correct.
As a former employee, I heard the owner Tom Shannon say he doesn't want the venue to become too "ghetto." Avoid it.
Try Lucky Strike instead, it's way cooler. (624-660 W 42nd Street)
Oh, and just how many non-white employees have you sen there?!!

My friends and I had the best time. We made a reservation so we didn??t have to wait for lanes. And in 2 hours we were actually able to play 4 games each, and we had 5 people on our lane!

So, not only did we avoid waiting in line, we actually saved money by making the reservation. The server took our order and brought everything straight to us so that we didn??t have to leave the lanes. It was a great night and we will definitely be back soon!

OMG the Wednesday night special is ridiculous! $4 games and $4 drafts?!? There is not a better deal in nyc for bowling and drinks.. A huge help to me and my ??formerly employed? friends. Awesome crowd, music was great and just because I??m out of a job doesn??t mean I can??t go out and have a little recession-friendly fun!

I'd love to know what it's like inside, but I'll never know because I made the mistake of showing up with a doggie bag from the place I had just eaten dinner. The bouncer (bowling alleys need bouncers?) held firm - there would be no left over fish tacos entering his bowling establishment. After all, they serve food in there, and if he let someone in who had just finished dinner ten minutes ago and was carrying a doggy bag, then, well, who knows what might happen. Hey keep up the good work buddy, one day you'll graduate to bar bouncer, where even greater challenges await you. In the meantime, someone else will get my entertainment dollar. Nice work.

Pros: vigilante security

Cons: none - unless you want to go inside

Last night was my first time going to bowlmor lanes in union square. A bunch of us went since there is a killer deal on monday nite - 4hrs of unlimited bowling for $24 (which covers shoe rental). the place was packed, but service was very good. Our waitress was on top of everything making sure we always had enough beer and food for the lane. The sliders and potato skins were outstanding and the pizza was pretty good too. This is definitely the place to go on a monday night in nyc.

This place is so much fun! If I'm going to go bowling in Manhattan I might as well go somewhere that has a cool scene and is a one-stop hot spot for the night. This place has music, a lounge, food and a pretty good crowd. I would even come back just for drinks at the bar.

Just checked out Bowlmor for the first time last night, I??m new to the city and I had heard a lot about it. Went with my roommates and had a blast. Ending up losing track of time and all of a sudden it was almost 1am!!

We had a bunch of pitchers? had to drink beer to improve my game!! Also ordered mini burgers and chicken fingers which we ate in under 2 minutes- food is better than I would have thought!

The vibe was cool - lanes were pretty full and they brought drinks right to the lanes so I didn??t have to keep walking to the bar - overall great night out, will definitely be back!

Bowling is always my go-to activity when I am looking for a guaranteed fun night out. I have been to all the other bowling spots around town and Bowlmor is still by far my favorite- always a great crowd, and the lanes are really cool.

Their Monday night deal is awesome - all you can bowl for like 24 bucks but it can get crazy so get there early!!

I went to Bowlmor last night for Night Strike and it was so much fun, this might just become my regular monday night spot. I don't know of any other place in the city that offers unlimited bowling for 4 hours for around 25 bucks, which by city standards, is pretty damn good.

If you haven't been here before, you are definitely missing out. They have 80's music blasting all night and big screens above all the lanes showing ESPN and Spike TV.

There's a really good selection of beer -
All the usuals...
Beck??s
Dos Equis
Samuel Adams
Sierra Nevada

Great apps to choose from -
Southwest Nachos
Buffalo Wings
Potato Skins
Sliders

If your not sure what to do on a monday night in nyc, round up the crew for a totally great night at Bowlmor

I just got back from a company event at Bowlmor Lanes and this was by far one of the best times our group has had at a company event in a really long time. There was a great atmosphere to the place and everything was glow in the dark or neon, which is not what you would expect at a bowling alley, but was a pleasant surprise

We had 4 lanes reserved for our event, and as soon as we walked in, the hostess greeted us and knew exactly where our event was set up. A few of us headed to the bar to grab drinks while we waited for everyone to arrive. After a couple of Amstels, everyone was there and it was time to start the bowling extravaganza!

After a I got a couple of gutterballs out of my system, I actually started to bowl pretty well, and thankfully I wasn't the worst one there. After we finished our first game, the food arrived and it was time to chow down, We had great selection which included chicken quesadillas, chicken fingers, sliders, mozzarella sticks, nachos and cheese, and a whole bunch more. All the food was excellent and well surpassed my expectations of bowling alley grub. Kudos to the chef!

After a few more drinks and socializing, it was time for our second game! Not sure if all the drinks I had helped or hurt my score this time around, but it doesn't really matter because I had fun either way! Some of us decided to bowl a 3rd game while the rest decided to just lounge around by the lanes. Our hostess and servers were always around to make sure everyone was taken care of and were extremely organized and attentive.

I would recommend this place for any group or company event and will definitely be coming back soon with my friends because it was such an unbelievable experience.

Call up all of your friends and get them together for an amazing night at Bowlmor Lanes near Union Square. This place is so much fun! I have been going here for 3 years now since I discovered the spot after being invited to a friend??s going-away party. If I'm going to go bowling in Manhattan I might as well go somewhere that has a cool scene and somewhere I can spend the whole night This place has music, a lounge, food and a pretty good crowd. It is always a ridiculously good time even when I just come here for drinks.

I came here for a corporate party and wasn't sure what to expect, especially since I hadn't been bowling in a really long time. I ended up having an unbelievably good time (despite my ridiculously low score). It was really fun, even though many of my teammates and I threw gutterballs.

The food was really tasty and not like your typical bowling alley fare. We had this amazing fruit and cheese display along with sliders, spinach and artichoke fondue, spring rolls and all sorts of wraps. For dessert we had this crazy fresh fruit palm tree and chocolate fondue with cookies and brownies?I just couldn??t?? stop eating it, it was soooooo good.

All the people in my office seemed to have a really great time and our teams took on that competitive spirit to beat one another, luckily no one took it too seriously. All in all, I had a great time and can??t wait to go back with my friends!

the same exact thing happened to me on Saturday night, I arrived at the bowlmor lanes before my date did, I asked the security people if there were lanes available and if they take plastic they said they did and never mentioned to me about a dress code. My date arrived later on and we grabbed dinner then went to bowlmor lanes then the security person would not let us in also mentioned the baggy jeans B S, meanwhile a later arrived just as we did also were jeans that were baggy and they let her in, oh btw i am white and my girlfriend is African American, I also think the alley management and or security is racist

This is my 1st review ever!!! I have always read them, never wanted to waste the 2 seconds it takes to sign up to leave one but, last nights experience was so degrading and embarrassing that I had to break my rule. We had a college reunion/birthday celebration with a small group of friends. The bouncer at the door let a few in while the rest of us searched for parking. When we came to the door, the security person was extremely nasty with us. He told us that we could not get in because our pants were too baggy. Then he proceeded to tell us that he doesn't mind " you people" wearing pants below the a$$, its management rules. Mean while we are watching white guys go in with loose fitted jeans on with no problem. Some guys didn't even have to show i.d.1. No one was wearing baggy jeans (who does)?2. Pants below the waistline is for kids our younger guys (we are in our mid 30's and up)3. We know how to dress. We are all corporate guys.We argue our case to the security guard to no avail... "He proceeds to tell us hes not racist because his girlfriend is Latino. He also tells us that he has black friends and most of his staff is black.1. Who cares if your girlfriend is Latin? We didn't think you were racist until you said that stuff out of the blue.2. the only black staff was one security guard, who was upstairs the whole time.We spoke to management who didn't even want to come downstairs at first to handle this situation. We were in the cold for 45 minutes waiting for the birthday boy and his fiance to get there and we totally ruined the surprise by him seeing us. We were only granted entrance because she claimed she wanted her money back since this was a reserved party. As for the drinks...they were good. I wont deny that. The decor is average. The staff wasn't that great as far as waiting on us went. I actually thought the lanes were pretty decent also. I guess that's why they have a star awarded by me. I would never step into this place as long as they still employ that stereotypical jerk. This guy needs to get training on how to talk to people and handle black people. I wished I had this on video to post on yourtube so corporate could see that there company is employing racist!!!btw we were dressed like everyone in there basically..Unfortunately our skin tone wasn't up to par here.

I went to Bowlmor Union Square on New Years Day. My bill came to $77.70 for six games. I signed a credit card draft for 77.70.

The next day, I checked my bank account online to see if my rent check cleared and instead of my rent check being cleared(brace yourself), I see a charge of $777.22 from Bowlmor. Perfect timing. My rent is due.

The first person I spoke with said "There is no manager here to speak with. You have to call the corporate office or call back in 20 min and speak with Heather".
After 2 hrs. 8 phone calls back and forth to the corporate office, I contacted Heather the manager.
I tell her what the problem is and she says, "Well, like Milton told you, there is nothing we can do for you. You have to call our corporate office".
I told her, "No, he said you would call me back and you didn't, that's why I'm calling".

After me getting upset with the complete lack of help and accountability, I asked the manager to call someone or do something. Just saying,"I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do" is not good enough. It's a $700 mistake.
She offered to send an e-mail to someone in accounting. Gee thanks.

I asked if she could call herself because I had no luck. She called me back and informed me their office is closed for the holiday and I'd have to wait until Monday to get my money back.
I asked her to tap into her resources and figure out a way to help and speed this process because I have checks in the mail for rent/utilites and this problem is just going to snowball with overdraft fees, late rent fees, etc.
Heather's response, "There is nothing I can do, my hands are tied".

I went to Bowlmor because I was sick of getting the run around and asked for the General Manager, Peter.

Peter was already well informed, by his not-so-helpful staff, of the situation.
Not one apology or explanation, just "My IT guy can fix this from home, I just need your credit card number." and an insinuation that I was making this up.
I asked about the overdraft fees I might incur and he said,"Yea, don't worry about. What are they? Like $10 bucks?"

I told him no, I have to pay $35 for each item overdrawn. He told me,"Well I have Bank of America and they are only $10."
Well sorry I'm not perfect! Unfortunately,I have had overdraft fees in the past and each time the fee increases.

I called later on that night, wanting to speak with Peter. I was asked my name, put on hold, asked why was I calling, put on hold again, told he was in a meeting and he'd call me back. He never called.

Needless to say, I will not be going back to Bowlmor Lanes, unless it's to collect the $700 they owe me.

Hand down the biggest disappointment:

? Overpriced bowling
? Food equivalent to microwave lunches (I ordered the cheese pizza, Dominos was better)
? Service was average
? The place has a musty smell
? Drinks were extremely overpriced
? Glow in the dark lanes were pretty cool, I mean that was basically the highlight of the whole place

I would suggest the new Lucky Strike Lanes or AMF 300 hands down.

I took a group of 15 colleagues there for 3 hours of bowling on a Tuesday night.

PROS: It was fun and the staff are nice.

CONS: It cost $2,400!!!!! Yes folks, $2,400! They have mastered the art of nickel and diming and making it impossible to figure out what costs what (drink tickets for this, but not for that). Renting 3 lanes for 3 hours unlimited bowling cost well over $1,000, not including another $100 for shoe rental.

If I'm going to spend that much money, I'll take the office to Del Posto and have a fine dining experience. I mean give me a break. I'll never go back.

What a fantastic time! A bunch of friends celebrated a friends birthday here and had a blast. Had plenty of drinks and totally sucked at bowling but really didn't care. The vibe is cool and hip. Will totally be back again.
