They have gotten to be a bit boring. I would highly advise a change in menu and please run some specials, we get tired of seeing the same old, same old.

I would mention the quality of the food, only I never actually got the chance to EAT the food because the wait was intolerably long. I wouldn't have minded, only the hostesses LIED to us and told us it would be a 30-40 min. wait for an outdoor table, and after an hour and a half (and after staring at two empty tables for an HOUR that were supposedly for people with 'reservations'), we finally agreed to sit inside. Then, when a bunch of tables outside became free, we asked the hostess if we could get on of them and she looked at us AS IF SHE HAD NEVER SEEN US and said, "Oh, there is a separate waiting list for outdoor seating." That was when we left. The inside was cold, oddly decorated, and both inside and outside there was really crappy music (like 10-year-old disco music). This place has (or had) SO MUCH potential - but the terrible service and music really ruin it. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR EVENING ANNOYED, ANGRY, AND HUNGRY. They have lost our business forever.

The food is great here and bar here is lots of fun. Great outdoor seating right on the water.

Pros: Great fun place with great food and service

Cons: Only open a short period of the year.

I used to go to the Coyote Grill a few years ago so when the opportunity arose to go again I looked forward to it. Ah, how the years have changed it. The interior that once was a romantic 'Ode to Santa Fe', has depleated to a dozen or less tables and hardwood chairs with the bar taking over most of what was once the dining room. The hint of southwest is overshadowed by the emphasis on "bar and drinking." The outdoor areas are another extension for the same. The food, at least what we ordered, was bland and unimaginative, come to think of it, the entire menu read that way...(maybe there was a reason that none of the tables had salt and pepper on them...we asked for it, then ended up passing ours to the table next to us when their waitress disappeared.) I guess that the final insult was when the waitress picked up our check folio and never returned with the change...I was counting on getting back a couple of dollars for the car valet, rather than a leaving a twenty-five percent tip... 35 minutes I hunted her down and asked for three of the dollars back. OK, never again! Coyote Grill should just give in and become another of the string of the overcrowded Island Park waterfront bars and stop trying to pass itself off as a legitimate restaurant, it is already well on it's way to doing just that!
