Discusting Dump. Terrible Service

by medlad1y

Good music. That?s it. My friends and I were approached several times by strangers trying to sell us drugs. Apparently this place is know for that.

But I can deal with that part. Just told them we weren?t interested and went on about our business.

Drinks were watered down and I caught them making our supposed Grey Goose drinks with so no name vodka. They apologized. But didn?t refund us anything for the krap they gave us.

Shady people, shady place. And they have there employees writing reviews here for good P.R.

Dip shit server actually told us LOL!!

stay away from this dump.....

Pros: its in the village

Cons: Hmmm full of coke heads in there trying to sell....

Great place for a party

by lan_lecour

Glenda and staff, especially Linda, provided outstanding service during my birthday party on 8/28. They treated my like a Queen. Bottle service came with sparklers that put the spotlight on me and made my night special. The birthday cupcakes were yummy too - we loved them. My friends & I had a fabulous time! It's a small place but the ambiance, decor were warm & inviting & DJ had us dancing all night. Call Glenda for your party, you won't regret it.

Pros: great service& DJ

Cons: small, but cozy

Amazing DJ

by CSMobileUser

The DJ on Fridays is the best I've ever heard. I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and tonight the Dj did a tribute to him - it was so good I cried - seriously it was that good MJ is smiling down wherever he is because the DJ really captured his essence everone was going crazy. I didn't get a chance to personally compliment him so that's why I'm writing this. This place is a very tiny place but the DJ is the best in manhattan. He did MJ justice. RIP Michael and god bless that DJ

Hip downtown club

by ashleybakernyc210

last week i went to this place called alibi and at first i wasn't too sure about the place, because from the outside it doesn't look like much. but when i went inside, things were very different from street level. the place has a suave decor and lots of chairs to sit on after you've been dancing for a while and need to take a break. the bartender made really good drinks and they weren't crazy expensive. and on-top of that, there were lots of hot guys there, plenty for me and my friend to chose from. great place!

Pros: the crowd

Great place for a bachelorette party!

by FionaRobinsonnyc2008

My girlfriend recently got engaged so the girls and I planned a bachelorette party for her at Alibi. From the get-go I felt confident about my decision to do her party at Alibi. The owner Glenda was so helpful and she walked me through everything with such class and style. Glenda suggested a few appetizers and a party package for our party, and she was right....it was PERFECT! I really liked this place and my girlfriend and all my friends have a wonderful time. Thank you Glenda, your staff is amazing and so are you!

Pros: Amazing staff!

Cool Party!

by Georgetucker55

A work friend of mine had his birthday party at Alibi on Friday night and I really liked the place....it was really cool. The place had a diverse crowd, good food, and kick-ass drinks. He ordered several bottles of vodka, tequila, and rum for us, and with the booze he ordered, they also gave us unlimited amounts of mixers so we could all mix our own cocktails, and exactly to our liking. I've never seen that before, that was really cool. Good place, good decor, and good service.

Pros: The Booze

Who would have thought!

by janetkelly205

Walking by this place almost once a week, I never noticed it before! I walk on MacDougal Street so often that sometimes I walk blind, not noticing the great gems to be found beneath street level. But a few nights ago I did, and I'm glad I did, it was really cool, a very nice and sleek place with REALLY GOOD margaritas, and hey, call me a margarita snob, but even being a snob about what warrants my approval as to what's a good drink, I must say...the bartender, I think her name was Rachel or Robin (???) sure makes a killing margarita. So next week when I'm walking on MacDougal Street again, I'm gonna' stop in for a post work cocktail and hopefully Robin/Rachel (??) will be there to mix me a great cocktail. Cool place, I might even make it a regular stop each week. Thanks Alibi, you have a very nice place and a very nice bartender. Janet, ;)

Pros: Amazing margaritas

Cool Place!

Last night I went to Alibi with my buddy and it was pretty cool. We got there early, at 8, but even at 8 things we're pretty jumping. The music was good, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and hip. Good place, we'll go again for sure.

Pros: I like the vibe

Incredible mix of oldies & goodies!

by jmfabu2000

A bunch of my girlfriends and I went out after the 4th of July fireworks on Saturday and some how we ended-up way downtown in The Village, an area we don't usually venture off to. However, I will say I was very surprised at how good the music was. All the classic as well as new dance tunes to get down and boogie, which we did, and...until 4am in the morning! OMG!, I haven't done a 4am night-out in years! Yet maybe I should more often, as it certainly felt good to dance like a 20 year old again. Thank you Alibi, thanks for making this old lady (38) feel young again!

So I went to this bar my friend recommended last Friday night and it was pretty cool. I've never heard of the place, but he brought me there because he had some networking event to go to. The crowd was mixed and there were a lot of HOT girls there! And hey, any place that has a lot of HOTgirls, sign me up...I'm so there!

Pros: Reasonable beer prices & good selection

Thanks for a FABULOUS birthday celebration!

by Rachelpreston424

My best friend Tory turned 32 this past weekend and we all surprised her with the best party ever! The owner at Alibi (Glenda) was so helpful with helping me plan her big surprise and I got a lot more food and great bar specials than I imagined I would. I'm so glad I went with Alibi for my best friend's party. She had so much fun and she really got a blast out of the birthday cake we got her, which we teamed-up with a huge 48-oz margarita drink. Thank you so much Glenda, and all the staff at Alibi, my friend Tory was so surprise and had an amazing time. Thank you!!!!!

Cons: Fun cocktails!

Very good place for a private birthday party.....

by RichardPGaston

My friend from work had her 30th birthday party at this place last week and what a good time we all had. She got the full spread, which was tons of really good appetizers, some really HUGE cocktail we all shared, and these really cute mini cupcakes and of course a big birthday cake for my friend, including festive sparklers. The music was good and the decor was quite comfortable and stylish. She picked a very good place for her 30th and I might even have my 35th there as well?

Pros: Attentive bartenders and good atmo...

Why go anywhere else?

by melissJ

I have lived in the city for some time but have never found my niche... that is until I came to Alibi!!!! It has that great mix of socializing and dancing... and best of all drinks that are made well and don't make me broke. Most places in the city that try to have the club vibe end up being too overwhelming. ALibi has the balance jussst right! Me and friends will be back often- I def need to try that 48oz drink... it looks AWESOME!!!!

Pros: great music!, lively crowd, friendly bartenders

Great Party Venue!

by dmac06

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place!!

Several of my friends have held parties here. I decided to host a party here myself for my friend's going away. Glenda took great care of us!!! We got the party package, which was a real steal.

Music here is always an awesome combo of hip hop and pop, and the crowd is a fun mix of early-mid 20s. One of my fave spots in the West Village.

Pros: great drinks, pumping music

My Fav Afterwork Friday Spot! Dance, Eat, Great Happy Hours!

by KittyN

Great place all around. But I must say for a fun afterwork place to go , trendy mixed crowd on a Friday, its where to be! Easy to get there, most trains go to West 4th. No Cover, great 2 for 1Apple Martinis, they make them Good! And Happy Hour prices till 10!!! And people are dancing, I love that. Get there @ 6 or 7 and everyone is already having a fun time. Flat screen Tv's, Projector, playing videos. The Friday promoter will even promote your business card or ventures on the screens.

On top of that when you walk in there is a Dj playing a variety of music, gets people dancing! They have a nice variety of food to order, I love their Calamari and Sliders, bigger than the normal Sliders! Fries are addictive!

Very $exy spot, variety of people and music, having a great time. Very Personable, they really take care of you there! The birthdays parties are very catered to you and they have great packages! $exy VIP area!

Pros: Great Dancing and Drinks on a Friday Afterwork

Hidden Jewel In The Village

by Javonn

I first found out about Alibi through a friend of mine who has been going there for years. She told me that it was a cool place in the village to relax and have fun and she didn't lie....Alibi is my favorite lounge in the city. I brought some friends there last night and they all loved it. The energy that the place gives off makes it hard for you not to have a good time while you are there. The drinks there are very reasonable and they aren't stingy with the liquor.

If you do go, make sure that you reserve a table as you will be treated to superb service from Linda. I cannot express enough how she will make your night as easy and carefree as humanly possible. She is extremely fun, and you can sometimes spot her grooving to the music that's playing!! All my friends could talk about was how amazing she was and how they felt like she really took the time to make sure that each individual was comfortable and that everything was to their liking.

They always have a good dj playing a good mix so it is a spot that every person can hear some sort of mix and come out saying that they danced the night away!!! Contrary to other opinions, I have never had a problem with the bouncers at all. They are there to do a job, and they do it very well I must say.

The only problem that I had, was that it seemed to get very hot in there last night, but I attribute that to the large crowd and the fact that it was a bit humid outside.

Overall, Alibi is the perfect place to go if you want a relaxed atmosphere where you can have fun and feel like you don't have to fit in with the "crowd". Glenda does an amazing job running this place, and I always contact her to let her know that I enjoyed my experience and am looking forward to returning.

Pros: Excellent Table Service, Excellent Music, Good Atmosphere

Cons: There are none

horrible place for a party

by Marissa

This is a warning to anyone who wants to have a party here - DO NOT give your credit card. My friend had her party here and they tried to charge the card without consent, even though our party did not even order the bottles! The gig is they have 5 parties at once and can't keep the bar tabs straight. They kept changing their story about who ordered them - bottom line, they are incompetent and should not be allowed to run this establishment. Complaints have also been filed to the Better Biz Bureu and are currently under investigation. Not only is the staff and management terrible, but the vibe and atmosphere were sub-par. Unless you have hundreds of dollars to spare for their mistakes, I suggest you take your party elsewhere. I was forced to give a rating so I had to put one star but they deserve a big fat zero.

Cons: too many parties at once and staff can't keep bar tabs

Great Night

by Jasonw99

Thursday night I was in the village at a horrible party in Off the wagon, when we decided to go across the street and check out Alibi. There was a cute girl on the door so we could not resist. What a blast we had, there was like four DJ's playing , FREE PBR's yes FREE and everyone was dancing and having a great time. We stayed there for about two hours , got talking to the bartender Robin who was also very cute. The place is small but on a Thursday night it was rocking.

Pros: FREE PBR's , and cute staff

Cons: Only two bathrooms

Tiny and overcrowded

by buttons946

I went to Alibi last Saturday night for a birthday party and after reading all of the previous reviews I have to wonder if everyone is talking about a different bar. Yes it was easy to get in but I think that's because my friends and i were the only ones of age in the place. It was like walking into a bad frat party. I was surrounded by kids who looked like they were barely out of high school. As far as "trendy" there was nothing trendy about the place other then some hipster NYU students. The music was also nothing to go crazy over. It would have been better if someone made a play list on their i Pod. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun night out.

Pros: Cheap drinks

Cons: The crowd, the music, the size of the bar, no room to dance

Had a blast!!!

by SowhatIdo

I threw my number "32" bd party at Alibi's on a saturday night and I had a blast. We promised my friends a little bit of everything but mostly it was hip hop, which was great, awesome mix! but you know you just can't please everyone. On a side note about the music, if you happen to go out a lot you will love the music no matter what, it only takes a drink in your hand and appreciation for all kinds of places, and this is a spot to to appreciate. Pretty good staff, trendy crowd, all types of people and also cozy. We had a reserved area for 20 people right in the middle of the bar and we kept on leaving our area constantly to dance and just hang but I guess that was an open door for other people to come in our area and think it was just an open area so make sure you mark you territory woof! woof!
Now the only bad thing, please, please Glenda fix the bathroom situation, some people (yes women) don't have bathroom etiquette and they don't care to make other ladies wait and wait for more that 10 mins to go in for a quick pee-pee. I'd suggest to get rid of the back room and push back the bathrooms (add another ladies room) all the way to the back I noticed the people in the back room feel uncomfortable being so close to the lines to the bathroom , anyways they look as if they were punished being away from the party.
When in the area, I won't forget to stop at Alibi's :)

Pros: trendy crowd, great music, cozy

Cons: bathroom situation

Fun night , Great Music , Cute Waitress :)

by Jnally18

I partied at Alibi this past Saturday night , and had the best time ever. I booked with Glenda over two weeks prior to the date and she was amazing. We got there at 10pm or so and straight away Robin the bartender told us where our section of seating was. My friend had her 30th birthday at Alibi about six months ago and this is the reason why we came back. Service was excellent each time we came , music was great and most importantly Glenda made the planning of it so so easy. We will definitely be back ....

Pros: Great party planner , no cover charge , no bottle service required.

Cons: steps , not good when your drunk

ALIBI is the best!

by blobina

Okay, first of all, I will say that I have been to Alibi many MANY times and have ALWAYS had a great time there (and I have been coming for three years). I was also there the night of this "assault" and the cops laughed at this dude (who was starting a fight inside which is why he got put out to begin with). Obviously he's just p*ssed and writing a bunch of nonsense to try to hurt the club. I would be mad too if I looked like a total doucheb*g in front of all my friends. (and clearly he wrote them both-- you wrote the same thing on two reviews dude- not the brightest) No one at Alibi is rude- the service is actually really quick and nice, especially for a busy Manhattan bar (if you don't believe me just read the other like 70 reviews before mine). I got a bottle over the summer of Absolut for my girlfriend's birthday and it was a reasonable $200 with everything included (who would believe $100 for juice? What a moron. . .) That being said, I personally think the DJs are some of the best in the city-- if you don't believe me you can just check their myspaces: richieberetta . It's a great mix of everything: hip hop, top 40 (yes, current obviously), reggae, a little house, Latin, and maybe some rock sometimes. Basically anything you would hear in a big club. They're nice about requests too which is rare. The drinks are $7 which I don't think is overpriced for the middle of the city.
The bar looks almost exactly like the photos on the site. My friends wanted to see it though before they booked their engagement party and Glenda gave them a tour personally so they could see the place firsthand. Of course, they loved it and are now having an anniversary party there in two months.
All in all I think Alibi is a great place to party and there's no way you should let one lame guy's bruised ego sway you against it if you ask me. But again there's like 70 other people on here with the same opinion so you don't have to ask just me ;).

Pros: Affordable, trendy but not pretentious, awesome DJs, fun party atmosphere!

Cons: Line for the bathroom ;)

FRIEND WAS PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY BOUNCER HERE.

by lazidoodle83

SYNOPSIS: DO NOT COME HERE. The bouncer attacked my friend, put him in a headlock, dragged him outside and threw him nearly across the street.

A friend and I were throwing a birthday party with all the usuals, table, bottle service, etc. It was VERY crowded and sort of smelly, but we thought - hey, that's ok.

Around 30 mins after everyone got there, a big 6' 3" bouncer weighing over 250 lbs pushed past our group - stepping on my friend's foot in the process (my friend is a skinny 5' 9", 130 lb dude). My friend yelped, and the bouncer turned around - and yelled 'what's your prob?'. The bouncer, then pushed my friend, grabbed him by the head in a chokehold. He then lifted him off his feet by the neck, spun him around - sending everyone around us (all girls) flying to the sides. He then dragged my friend out of the door, up the stairs and literally threw him out on the street.

We rushed outside to see what was going on. The other bouncers outside saw that none of us were drunk (including my friend) - as we hadn't even finished one drink yet. They politely said we could return, however, obviously my friend feared for his safety from this madman bouncer so we did not. The madman bouncer hid somewhere in an office.

Prior to leaving we called the cops and filed a complaint. Unfortunately this stuff seems to happen all the time, but I hope that we can do our little part in trying to get the word out on when sh*t like this happens.

Also as a side note: They charged us an additional $100 because we had juice along with our bottle.

Pros: None.

Cons: May get attacked by the staff.

DO NOT COME HERE. Worst place ever!!!

by syh2008

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE venue. Basement bar, expensive drinks that are disgusting, horrible decor (don't get misled by the pictures on the website), TINY space with barely any room to breathe, bad dj - music was outdated, and way too overcrowded.

On top of that, I was there when that guy was assaulted (per the previous review). The bouncer attacked the poor guy who clearly was just minding his own business, first shoving him a few times before putting him in a choke hold and dragging him out of the bar, and then THREW him onto the floor outside. The other two dimwit bouncers outside didn't even try to stop the guy. What kind of establishment is this?!?! Who just lets someone physically assault someone without any context?!

DO NOT COME HERE. Not only is the experience horrible, you might just get attacked. Come at your own risk. WORST NIGHT EVER.

Pros: none

Cons: bad drinks. bad music. crowded bar. potential to be attacked by employees.

Best Lounge in the Village

by DMilfort

Personally I've been to a lot of lounges in New York City. Alibi is the best when it comes to an overall experience. Everything from the DJ to the Drinks and a very diverse crowd. I recently had my birthday party at alibi and the experience was very memorable. My friends are still ranting and raving that they want to go again. If your looking for a nice location great drinks and Girls, Girls and more Girls alibi is the spot. Highly reccommended

Pros: Great Drinks, DJ on point, Excellent setting.

Best Mixture of Lounge/Club in NYC!!!

by asdninja

All I can say is AWESOME when I talk about Alibi Lounge. My name is Anthony and I was trying to look for a place to hold my 30th birthday party and I didn't know what to do! I did do a search for some places but since I had alot of people (bout 30-40 of my friends) coming, I wanted it to be easy to get into a club/lounge WITHOUT the hassle of lines, picky bouncers, ridiculous cover, high drink prices etc., and Alibi was it!!! I'm thankful that the people who write these reviews are truthful b/c without them I wouldn't have held my party here!!!
The owner Glenda is such an amazing person, so very friendly, easy to talk to and will tend to any of your needs to make your party a night to remember! I asked her about having my own section across the bar and she reserved it for me and my friends. All I can say is that I love Glenda lol!!! I was really worried b/c I wanted my party to be fun and stress free and she reassured me that it'd be ok! All my friends were able to get in easily no problems whatsoever...we all know how impatient it is to wait in line, ask if you're on the list, needing a ratio of 4 girls to 1 guy etc. What's really good is that there are other private parties going on at the same time, so then later on they let the rest of the public come in. The waitress Linda knew how to take care of a big party and I was quite surprised how she got our drinks quick! And what's another plus is that the drinks are strong and NOT overpriced! Even the DJ that nite was spinning some sweet beats, both new and old so it was nice to dance to! Seriously if you want a place that is not too clubby, but at the same time have the feel of a lounge, then go to Alibi!!! Listen to and read the reviews, they're totally true...I'm definitely going to come back again and hold another party!!! :)

Pros: Friendly service, good drink prices, no long lines, good music

Cons: Not that it's bad, but two private restrooms may cause to wait in line

Finally, a cozy place to party

by am3

Alibi Lounge was the perfect remedy to overly pretentious, incredibly unhelpful staff at clubs where I honestly wouldn't have wanted to be anyway. Everyone else wanted my money and to offer me super unnecessary extras when all I wanted was a place for myself and a considerable amount of people to enjoy my birthday. No table BS, no bottles, and no cover for my guests (provided they showed up before a certain time). Glenda @ Alibi was extremely accommodating and reassured me that my birthday would be well taken care of. Each and everyone of my guests has a good time, which is nearly impossible with a huge group, and in turn, I had an amazing time as well. Her wait staff and doormen were also kind, and the space was the perfect size for dancing without me being too cluttered. Great DJ!

Bachelorette Party

by jkuria

I set up an event at Alibi for my sister's bachelorette party on 10.25.08. I spoke with Glenda, who is very professional and who was very accomodating. I told her I would be there by 10 pm after my guests and I had dinner. Unfortunately, dinner ran late and we did not get to Alibi until 12:45 or 1am. I felt so bad but Glenda still had a spot reserved for me and my guests. She gave us our own little area and we had our own waitress. The girls and I had a great time and I will definitely be back to Alibi. The music was great (we are fans of hipo hop clubs) and this place was perfect. They played all kinds of music and the crowd was diverse and everyone looked like they were having a good time. Thanks to Alibi, and especially to Glenda for making my sister's night one to remember.

Pros: GLENDA!!!!!!!!!!, music

Cons: none that I can think of

Best Birthday Spot

by lylasliv

After searching tons of reviews, I chose Alibi as the spot for my and my friend's (joint celebration) first NYC birthday few weekends ago. Thank you to all the reviewers on here, your advice helped make our joint celebration absolutely fantastic!

Since our party was mostly comprised of grad students, we were on a budget and Alibi delivered. Glenda, the owner, who I made the reservations with, was quick to respond to our questions and our needs. It was so easy to work with her, and she set our guests up on the list and reserved us a table (and we didn't have to take our limbs off!). The place caters to loungers, drinkers, and dancers - the music that night was bumpin, and the crowd was pretty tight around the bar...but everyone in our party had a great time. We had several kudos from our guests...we will all be back!! Thanks Glenda!!!

Pros: Value, Space (cozy)

Cons: Once it's packed, good luck getting to the bathrooms

I was having a terrible night. The first bar I went to became so overcrowded and my guests were not feeling it. I stumbled on Alibi and Glenda, told her my situation. With the clap of her hands, she let all my guests in, cleared the back room for us, and had a waitress tend to us. They really came through for me. See you guys soon.

Pros: Music and lounge scene was on point

Cons: One or two of the bouncers were kind of jerks.

Great place to throw a party

by loveisall

I just planned a surprise 30th birthday party for my friend at Alibi and it was amazing. First off, I was planning the party from 3000 miles away, and Glenda, the proprietor, was very attentive and descriptive with all of her emails. She even helped me out by telling my friend they were booked solid when my friend tried to book the place to throw herself a party. The day of, she let me drop the cake off early and they held it until we were ready for it later that night. The entire staff was friendly and attentive and the seating area I'd reserved, without even needing to pay for bottle service, was generous. It was the perfect balance of club and lounge, with enough seating for those who didn't want to dance, but plenty of room and good music for those who did. While there really didn't seem like a large general crowd, there were several other parties there that night, so we were able to mingle a bit.

I would highly recommend this venue for your next party.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, great mix of music, ample seating

Great Customer Service

by hungrychick

The gals needed a place to celebrate our friends engagement, which turned into a speady wedding. We needed a place that was inexpensive and we can be as crazy and as daring as the night would dictate. The service was exceptional and so hospitable. We brought our naughty cake, balloons and Fabulous Boas and said goodbye to our single days and mayham on the streets of NY! We drank, we laughed, we cried and Alibi was great to us! Highly recommend this spot for small gatherings for the personal touch. Kudos!

Pros: Ambience, Service, Drinks, Music

Cons: Small

incredible service, incredible drinks, incredible time!

by sincity611

to be honest ive been a patron of this website for a long time looking for just the right venues to go to and to throw parties at.but ive never felt the need to sign up and write a review for a lounge/club/bar before until now. :-) i threw my birthday party here last minute after my original plans fell through and i cannot tell you how happy i am that things worked out this way. i was able to arrange the party literally the night before and the morning of the party for about 25 of my closest friends. i had not a single problem getting in and getting seats. glenda of course, was amazing, she made my night amazing and everthing ran so smoothly. none of my guests had problems getting in, the drinks were on point, the music was perfect and there was an awesome crowd as well. i dont think ive ever had such a good experience with any lounge like this before. if u want an intimate and amazing atmosphere, incredible and accomodating venues, and just an overall good time then definately make sure u go here. the drinks werent pricey at all especially compared to the 20$ drinks ive had to buy at other places previously. and if u dont come in with a lotta cash on u, u can always go for teh $3 jello shots that this lady comes around with. they definately hits the spot between drinks and shots. overall, i dont think ive found a venue better than this to host my parties at. without a doubt ill definately be back. thanks so much glenda and thank you alibi for making my night a one to remember!

Pros: glenda! the drinks, so accomodating, not pricey at all, great crowd, overall good time

Cons: none!

Best Memorial Day

by JimmyFingaz

Me and my boy were here this past sunday for Memorial day weekend. Even though it was sunday it felt like a saturday night. The DJ Richie is probably the best in NYC, the whole place was goin crazy. And the bartender was also really nice. The bounce at first was strict at the door - but what club doesn't have those. Once you're in he warms up to you. Go here to have great drinks and listen to good music.

Pros: Great DJ good vibe

Cons: stairs are scary when your drunk

Fantastic place for a birthday!!

by Marmar510

My boyfriend and I had our joint birthday party at Alibi on Friday night, and I have nothing but great things to say about the lounge, the DJ, and of course Glenda. All of my guests (we had between 50-60 people) had a fabulous time and I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have a worry-free and fun party :)

Pros: intimate lounge with club music, great drinks, nice decor

Cons: line for women's bathroom

Amazing experience!

by AngieSays

Amazing experience here! Several of my friends have celebrated birthdays here, and each time we've been treated so well. The drinks are amazing and very reasonable with happy hour until 10, even the cover is cheap for the area--$5 after 11:30pm. The DJ on Fridays is one of the best in the city, and you will hear soca, reggae, hiphop, reggaeton and more.

The only con is that it's so small and can get really crowded.

Pros: music, drinks, great service

Cons: small, gets crowded, bathroom line

by brooklynbella

Hey, I can't lie I always wind up having a crazy time at this place! The drinks and music are fantastic.. There is always a great crowd there as well. It can get a little stuffy though, but besides that it is a cool little place to go and chill with some friends. Go see for yourself :)

Great Lounge

by CHULAPR4LIFE

I had the time of my life in this place. First of all the hostess, Glenda, is a doll. I enjoy my weekends here on a regular basis. The drinks are always good. the DJ is awesome, and the crowd is extremely diverse.

I also spent New Year Eve here and I had the time of my life, for a very good price.

Definitely check this lounge out.

Pros: Beautiful crowd, great drinks, nice atmosphere.

Cons: Sometimes they have private parties and if you're not on a list, you're not getting in.

Great B-day

by melmaq

I just hosted my b-day party here in the private back room and Glenda did a great job. My waitress was pretty attentive, contrary to earlier reviews and the music was awesome. A good mix of hip-hop, classics- everyone had a great time. We had the majority of the back room to ourselves and we didn't even have to get a bottle! Only drawback was the back room got pretty hot and stuffy. Other than that, had a great time. Highly recommended!

Pros: Private room with no bottle req, good music, good crowd

Cons: Private room gets kinda stuffy

Great lounge

by silverdigger

I went on a Friday night with 2 friends who were visiting from Japan. We got there early, around 10pm, so it wasn't crowded yet, which was good for us, since almost all the seats were already reserved. So I would recommend a reservation. The drinks were good, the service was good, the onlt thing that was wierd was that a server was going around selling jello shots, and they were $3 each! But other than that, we had a great time! Would definitely come here again!

Pros: Service, atmosphere

Cons: None

Great party spot

by super80schild

My friends threw a small party for me last weekend at Alibi, and I had a blast! I really enjoyed this place - The staff was very friendly and helpful - it was a breeze for my friend to email the owner and reserve seating for my party (about 11 people.) I'm the kind of person that enjoys a place like this -a small, loungy kind of spot where there's room to "cut a rug." My friends that came did not have to wait in a crazy long line, and drinks were reasonably priced. Unlike many NYC lounges/clubs I've been to, the bathroom was clean! The DJ played good music throughout the night, and our waitresses were really nice. It became really crowded after midnight, and therefore took a while to get a drink at times. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, and will visit again!

Pros: Great service, friendly staff, ambience, great drinks

Cons: no food

Holiday Party to remember

by dizzymisslizzy56

"Alibi made my office holiday party a huge success! When I, as the new girl in town and at work, was given the job to plan the holiday party, I was so stressed out. I looked at a ton of places that were too stuffy, too strange, or way too expensive. Then I found Alibi. Immediately Glenda, the fantastic owner, was there to help me plan every detail. She collaborated with me on the menu (provided by her pub Slane down the street), she worked with me to get really great wine, and also to help our DJs get set up. When all was said and done, it was also really affordable for three hours of open bar, plus good wine, and tons of food. Everyone in my office had a great time at the party. Alibi was the perfect place to rent out for an event - there was tons of space for the office to mingle, and space for the brave few who wanted to dance. The food was excellent and plentiful! The staff was attentive and helpful. The night went completely smoothly! I would totally recommend Alibi to anyone who needs to plan a medium to large sized party."

Pros: Glenda, the owner, is totally amazing and helpful

Worry Free Night

by knejame

Glenda and Alibi saved my girlfriend's birthday! When some plans for my g-friend's birthday fell through a couple weekends ago, I contacted Glenda VERY last minute about simply providing a place where everyone could get in at the same time and not worry about lines or covers--I didn't even need seating. Not only did she get back to me immediately with a promise to provide just that, but when we showed up, there was a reserved seating area for us with more than enough room for everyone to booze and break from dancing. Our server was on top of everyone's needs and I ended up spending probably a third of what I would have somewhere else. Good space, great service and management. Thanks Glenda and Alibi Lounge!

Pros: no pretentiousness, great staff/management, great value

Great place to throw a party

by qnzshortie

I was looking for a place to throw a friend's b-day party where we'd have table service but wouldn't be forced to buy bottles. Alibi was the solution! Glenda (Alibi's contact person) was terrific!!! I was worried when the number of guests went from 20 to 40 overnight, but it was no problem, Glenda hooked us up with a spot in the front and everything was smooth sailing--no problems at the door, good music (mix of hip hop and all other things you can move to), and yummy drinks!

The only downside was the coat check person kept harassing everyone to check their coats...=(

Pros: Glenda, Music, Mixed crowd

Cons: Coat check person
