I went searching for this place after i read the reviews bc i knew i would be there at that time and needed to get this done. They were very nice and all and the woman who did it was so sweet (not rosa but i wont name her) but honestly, the eyebrow waxing wasnt that great. I've had better done for me at a cheaper price and while it was a good attempt, it looked nothing like what i asked and now i have to go fix it myself.
****ooooh and ps- the waxing is $$ EIGHTEEN not 20. She tried to gip me when i asked but it was a good thing i looked at the paper pamphlet.
Seriously, thats really pathetic.
I wouldn't recommend it but you can decide for yourself.

just what I need
by fcaceres
I love so many things about this place...
1- the Parafin manicures: this hot wax leaves your
hands so soft, it lasts for a whole week.
2- the Spa pedicure. Jeniette makes the scrub used on
this pedicure herself. I love it. And the massage that
comes with it as well. ;)
3- the waxing sessions. flawless every single time.
4- their body massages take any serious pain away.
the lovely rooms downstairs; the music; the aromatic
candles; the oils and lotions...ahhhh....
worth every penny.
I have been going to Jeniette for 7 years, and what I like the most is their -down to earth- service and prices, without sacrificing quality.
Pros: personal service
Cons: not enough time to go there more often

Awesome Salon!!!
by Vnancy
I've been coming to this salon for several years now, and I can call this the gem of Union Square. I always feel welcomed when I come in and I am attended with the fullest attention. The manicures and pedicures are amazing, I always pick dark colors and my nails come out flawless! When I get my waxing done, I feel little pain compared to all other salons, they use gentle wax. I have been to many other salons but nothing compares to Jeniette New York Day Spa. I also come to Jeniette's salon for facials and I always feel relaxed with my mask and my back massage. There are not enough words in the english dictionary that can describe this salon, it is amazing!!
Pros: The Gem of Union Square
Cons: NONE

Great Services at Great Prices
by zahavajen
Jeniette is a wonderful full-service day spa/salon. The staff is friendly and provides expert services. Five percent of the cost of gift certificates is donated to breast-cancer research, demonstrating that Jeniette is a business with a conscience that gives back.
Pros: Terrific service, accommodating

The greatest salon in Manhattan

I have been coming to Jeniette for almost 15 years. The service is always great. Jeniette treats all of the customers really well whether they are first timers or VIP's.
Rosa is an amazing artist and waxer. I am always getting compliments on my eyebrows. She pays a great attention to detail.
Sonia and Linda are the best as well.
The prices are reasonable and you won't get any better treatment.
Run,don't walk!
Pros: Great atmosphere, friendly and talented staff.

Great Eyebrows by Sonia!
by AmandaHM
I've been living in NYC for 6 years and until I found Sonia, I couldn't find anyone who could do my eyebrows exactly the way I wanted them. She has been doing my brows for a year now and I wouldn't trust anyone else to touch them. She's been a lifesaver.
Also, I'm a last minute kind of person and she has always been able to fit me in.
Pros: attentive & efficient

I've been going to Jeniette New York Day Spa for about 4 years now ever since my girlfriends first took me there to get my eyebrows done. Many visits later, I've become a loyal customer and would never consider going anywhere else! Rosa is the BEST!!!

great salon overall
by Atoya
what made it unique or special? A lot of reasons actually.
1. great prices for a salon to offer in the Manhattan
2. superb staff members. When I meant superb staff members means they are not just doing their job professionally but they also care about the customers.
3. they do practically everything. Haircuts, nails services, waxing and threading.
And the one thing that amazed me the most is that they are actually the one that started the threading services.
But anyway, like I said, is a great salon/spa overall
Pros: great prices and superb staff members

Extremely rude service, Unprofessional atmosphere
by BV500
I came to the salon twice last summer. The first time I went for a pedicure it was fine, everyone was nice, it was good quality. I was glad there were no whirlpools though keeping my feet in a plastic liner in a basin was a little weird.
The second time was another story. The owner (I assume) was running around in rollers having the suffering-looking staff do her nails. A male customer was getting his hair bleached and the manicurists were making fun of him in Spanish, which I understood.
Some woman said she forgot her cash and had to go to the ATM outside to get money. The owner said that was fine. After the woman left she said she didn't trust her (out loud, in English, in front of me and probably other customers who were around).
Then when I got a pedicure the woman made fun of me because the light color was streaky and blamed it on my nails (rather than the polish being old) even though I had the same type of color the previous time I came. Other manicurists came over to look which was embarrassing and unnecessary and they were talking about it in Spanish.
When I complained to the front desk woman she said distractedly, "yes yes the customer is always right" and tried to be friendly but it was just fake.
I was so upset I haven't returned since.
Pros: Reasonable price, no whirlpools
Cons: Rude service, poor quality

Great for threading and waxing
by Kay26
I came to get a mani/pedi and also to get some threading and waxing done. I thought the mani and pedi were sloppy and not worth the money. I also wished they had proper pedicure chairs instead of big old recliners.
The threading and waxing done were great though. It was impeccably done, and I couldn't have been happier. They were very thorough as compared to other salons I've been to in the Union Square area. They really took their time to make sure my brows were shaped just right. Not too thin, not too thick, and with an arch appropriate for my face shape.
My biggest problem was that I had this appointment scheduled. Long, LONG after my nails had tried, I had to sit and wait for the threader/waxer. I made the appointment for a reason. I didn't have hours to sit there. But I patiently waited as several women with appointments after me walked right in and got their waxing/threading done. I thought it was quite rude.
If I go back, it'd only be to get my eyebrows threaded and nothing more.
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location
Cons: Long wait time

Best Spa in Newyork!!!!!!
by shweeta
In this recession time, Jeniette Spa is truly affordable bliss. They take extra time and effort to shape your eyebrows, not like any round the corner salon who rushes and in 2mins you land up in thin and scary eyebrows. Jeniette Spa is about getting exactly what you want rather than what's printed on a menu. I highly recommend to all my friends and readers to go there and see why I have been their customer since 10 years.

Greatest Place for Eyebrows and Pedicures
by sgbg
I have been going to Rosa now for 5 yrs and wouldn't trust anyone else to my eyebrows. Always beautiful, perfectly and naturally shaped and she could not be sweeter. The pedicures and manicures are also well done, with MUCH MORE CARE than mosts other nail salons. Prices are so very reasonable too, so important in this economy.
Enjoy every minute of your time there

by jcat820
And would not trust anyone but Rosa for waxing. She is a genius!
I, too, was a victim of overplucking (years ago) and Rosa gently convinced me to allow her to reshape my brows. The result is fabulous!
I have referred all of my friends here and they always return and make Jeniette their new day spa.
Everyone is greeted by their name at the door (regular customers, that is) and every effort is made to accommodate your schedule.
I highly recommend!!!!!!

Friendly Professional Service Plus a Steal!
by amalamucho
Jeniette is such a lovely cozy place. I've been going to Rosa for my brows for around 4 years, she is very professional and just the sweetest person. My brows always come out perfect with a natural looking shape, no skinny brows here. She works meticulously to provide the best shape for your face.
This place has been around forever and for good reason, it's a comfortable place to come to, everyone is very friendly. It's very affordable for the quality of the service, I've looked long and hard for a better deal but anything else is a joke, for example the new place that opened up next door... with its glass box antiseptic look and scrolling sign.
A spa/salon should be a warm calm haven... jeniette is definitely that with great prices on top!
Pros: Great deals for the great service.
Cons: I wish they were open later.

The very BEST waxing artists in town!!!
by jley
Jeniette is absolutely the BEST salon that I have ever been to. When I first moved to New York I was so fortunate to find Rosa--waxing artist extrodinnaire!! Rosa is literally an artist when it comes to the art of the perfectly sculped eyebrow and with her experience and expertise bikini waxes are MUCH less painful that my experiences with other salons in the past. I highly HIGHLY recommend Jeniette and especially ROSA to anyone looking for fabulously shaped eyebrows, less-painful skilled waxing all in a friendly, relaxed, warm and accomadating salon environment.
Pros: Skilled staff, warm relaxed salon environment.

My eyebrows have never looked better
by HomaD
My sister and I were both devoted to threading until we came to Jeniette. My eyebrows have never looked more symmetrical and natural and flattering. Rosa is a master when it comes to shaping my eyebrows. The entire staff is professional, fun and incredibly friendly. The mani/pedis are also some of the longest lasting I've ever had. And the ambience of the spa is amazing relaxing and it makes for a really wonderful group trip. I can always count on consistently professional service and cannot recommend this place enough!
Pros: Ambience; location; service; really really really good at what they do
Cons: There's only one Rosa

Best of the best, trust me
by LindsayLu
I recently broke an addiction and I owe it all to Jeniette's. Just like eating McDonald's; knowing how bad it is for you, but it's so easy and fast, I had been getting my hair removal needs taken care of at those random threading pop-up boutiques around the village. I had to go back more than once a week because the hair would grow back so quickly. I had been to Jeniette's for bikini waxing many times, but on this fateful day Rosa did my waxing. She asked me where I had been getting my eyebrows done. I told her about the threading place and she asked if I was happy with them. I thought about it and realized, you know what? I'm not...they rush me, they don't do a good job, they are rude, and it's not private. She asked if I would grow out the damage they had done and return to have her work on my brows. I trusted Rosa. Thank god I did, because now, just a few weeks later my brows are looking great. They are not perfect just yet (due to years of hair removal by unskilled individuals) but I can see that they will be, as each visit Rosa meticulously waxes, plucks and trims them to their natural, beautiful shape. Rosa and the rest of the staff are amazing. They treat you like an old friend and really bring an art to the services they provide. So now, instead of the McDonald's of hair removal, I go to the creme de la creme, the Peter Lugar's of hair removal and all other spa needs. I save money because their prices are totally reasonable and I am not running back every few days. They always make time for appointments, even when I call that day. So I beg all of you out there who are ruining your beautiful faces going to these wannabe threading boutiques, go to Jeniette's...you will be amazed!
Pros: Best eyebrow and other hair removal needs, attentive and friendly staff
Cons: Absolutely nothing!

i love this place!
by estherqueen
i've been going to jeniette for more than 10 years and to tell you the absolute truth, i wouldn't think of going anywhere else for a manicure/pedicure and eyebrow wax. yes, i have brought my friends and they love it. why? because it's no frills, it's clean, and it's surprisingly affordable.
when it's time to get beauty basics, everybody has their spot. the bottom line is, you have to find yours. over the years, i've watched others go to trendy places and get infections and cuts and such, so i'm VERY particular. at jeniette, i (and many, many others) have a box for my totally sanitized mani/pedi tools (given to me by jeniette, by the way) that's kept on the premises, so that no one else uses what's mine. i'm on a tight budget, so thankfully there's always a weekly special. and HELLO -- isn't it common sense to check details like "cash only" on a special before you get it? or at least look at the big sign in the window that says "special -- cash only" when you walk in? duh. it's even on their website!
okay, so when it comes to giving mani/pedis, everybody's got their style. i hate to sound like howard hughes here but securing the foot soak with a plastic bag or having the specialist position your foot on fresh warm towels instead of on a foot rest/pedestal where so many a wet moist foot has rested -- well, those are very sanitary options, in my book. but like i said -- i'm VERY particular.
when it comes to my eyebrows, however, i'm manic. rosa rules the roost here. she knows exactly what she's doing. i owe her huge for talking me out of overplucking my brows. (she actually cared that much!) because of her, i have an eyebrow shape that suits my face -- not something trendy that doesn't augment who i am.
so sometimes i come in and wait 15 minutes or more. when i leave with feet that are so soft and pretty, my fiance kisses them when i get home, all i can think is, it's worth it.
good luck finding your beauty spot, ladies. i've found mine.
Pros: great value and quality of service
Cons: limited amount of space to "lounge"

Awful for Manicure and Pedicures - worst place in my experience
by clp6
I am on a continual quest for a cheap but good quality manicure/pedicure in the Union Square area, and Jeniette Spa is not it. First, I would like to say that I have gone there twice and have had the same horrible experience. I would say the manicure might almost be worth it (for $11), but the manicurists not only give poor manicures but are also incredily rude. When I asked her to make one nail a little shorter so it would be even with the others she rolled her eyes at the manicurist next to us not even caring if I saw it or not. It was extremely obvious that she did not want to be there and did not even make an effort to make me feel welcome throughout the whole experience.
The pedicure is even worse. There are no pedicure chairs and instead you sit in armchairs and put your feet in a plastic basin lined with a plastic bag. Let's just say that having your feet in a water filled plastic bag feels slimy and disgusting. Even worse, there are no foot rests to put your feet on when you are getting your pedicure. Instead you put your feet on their knees. I felt like I was crushing the tiny women with my feet the whole time. So not only was I worried about irritating the already irritable woman with my big old feet, but it was uncomfortable for me because I couldn't put my whole leg pressure down like you would normally do on a foot rest. The worst part of this whole experience is that the pedicure is not even a steal, price-wise. It's $24. I highly recommend going somewhere else where the pedicure is equally crappy, but at least you sit in a real pedicure chair and can get a somwhat-nice chair massage. Hey, I'd even rather go somewhere without a massage chair but at least have a real foot rest.
People might disagree with me about the service, but I have no idea how people can overlook the plastic bag (yechhh)
Cons: Awful manicure/pedicure, poor service, poor supply of tools

Fun, Relaxing, Lovely Experience
by italiana5986
I was in the city for the day enjoying a girls day out with my friends. We decided to all get ourselves treated to waxing, manicures, and pedicures. Living on Long Island, its so difficult to find a place where the staff will actually spend a good amount of time perfecting a manicure and pedicure. I found just that at Jeniette! Lorena gave me an excellent pedicure. I was totally relaxed and did not feel rushed at all, like I usually do at other salons. One thing I have never seen before was the use of disposable liners in the foot baths. This really is an safe and excellent idea! I also got my eyebrows threaded. They have never looked so good! I'm so excited. All of my friends were as equally pleased as I was. I will definitely be revisiting Jeniette the next time I visit the city. I highly recommend this place!!
Pros: Great staff, comfortable environment, excellent treatment all around!

Jeniette New York Salon
by lexilou812
Jeniette New York Salon is the BEST salon in the city. No exaggeration, this place is great. The location is ideal, right by Union Square, it is never out of the way. It is more than just a spa, it is like a second home. The owner Jeniette is a very welcoming warm woman with a cute accent and a warm personality. Her number one concern for the customer is always her hospitality for them. Appointments are always on time, as long as the customer is. While waiting (while there is minimal waiting), there are nice and refreshing refreshments for customers. The pedicures are relaxing and old-fashioned in mini-tubs, that are definitely clean. The manicures come out great and the waxing is amazing. Rosa and Ola are my favorites! If waxing is too painful, they even have threading. Threading is a great alternative to waxing and lasts so long, Jeniette should know as she brought this method to the city. I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone. It has a great, fun, and relaxing environment that gives the spa essence to people of all ages!
Pros: relaxing and luxurious environment

by glbrooklyn
I'm surprised to see such an unhappy review below. I am a long time customer of the Jeniette spa and was there just today. It was recommended to me by friends and I have passed on the recommendation to other friends. Now there is a whole batch of us that will only go there for waxing, pedicures and manicures.
The women who work there are always so incredibly nice and professional. This is the first spa in NYC that has made things like waxing a completely comfortable experience (as much as possible, I should say). I rarely have a wait and if so, it's brief. I wouldn't recommend going right after work as I imagine that's probably a busy time there. I can't reiterate enough how nice the women that work there are.

Never again
by nikki1518
So I was looking for a new place to do a manicure/pedicure and a friend had told me she had seen a place on union square. Because of the location i figured it would be a great place...Boy was i sadly mistaken. I went as a walk in and was told i'd probably have to wait about 5mins which turned into 25mins. Once i got my pedicure done i wanted the same girl to do my manicure and was told she couldn't because she had to take another customer!! so i had to wait another 10 min's to get my manicure. i went on a Monday which aparently they had a "special" for a manicure/ pedicure for $30 dollars, but only after i was getting ready to pay did they tell me i had 2 pay cash in order to recieve the "special" i didn't have cash on me so i was told i could run around the corner to an atm to get cash(right in the middle of my manicure)!!! On top of all of that. The owner Jeniette Kept on trying to convince me to buy some products i was clearly not interested in and was sort of rude when i declined the products. On thee upside the girls that did my manicure/ pedicure were delightful, but complained about their working conditions
Pros: i loved my manicure/pedicure the girls were great
Cons: the owners attitude and unpleasant hospitality were enough to make me never want to go back!!!

Consistently professional - great waxes!
by fotogrrl
I've been going to Jeniette since 2000 and I have always had a good experience there. Rosa is great at waxing. She makes getting a Brazilian wax as painless and comfortable as it can possibly be. Though waxing could become an awkward and painful procedure, Rosa puts me at ease by asking about my vacation plans and she always does a speedy yet thorough job.
Once I splurged on a massage and a mani-pedi as well. Both were fine - perhaps a little lackluster - but Rosa is the best and I would highly recommend going to her for waxing.
Pros: Excellent service and reasonable prices
Cons: Ambience is fine but a little dull

Warm and cozy atmosphere. Workers are pleasant and happy to please the client - you and me. Great pedicure in an old fashioned kind of way. The plastic tub has a throw away liner for cleanliness and health issues, yet the massage and heat are still part of the pedicure! Manicures are thorough and you don't leave feeling like you got ripped off. Enjoy!

BEST SALON IN NYC!!!
by kimberly511
I have been all around new york city to different day spas and i would lke to proudly say that nothing compares to jeniette new york. I have had so many services done there and it has all been perfect. my favorite waxer is Rosa, she does the best eyebrows and brazilians in my opinion. they are flawless when you leave the room because she is a perfectionist. I have actually seen a celebrity there waiting for rosa at that point, I knew I was at the right place. dont be fooled by cheap eyebrow services in other salons nearby. My daughter had her hair blown out for a party and it came out looking beautiful! The hair dresser even used a flat iron afterwards to fix frizzy areas. To top it off, I just came back from a 3-day getaway with the girls at the "prestige" Cranwell Spa and Golf Club in Massachusetts and i realized, i could have saved thousands for much better services at Jeniette. i highly recomend this place for mother's day gift certificates, they donate 5% to BREAST CANCER RESAERCH, i personally love Jenietee herself, she's a sweetie!!!
Pros: affordable and professional
Cons: none

The best spa for top-to-bottom care.
by 185222291111
I have been going to Jeniette's for more than ten years. The atmosphere is always soothing and the service terrific.
Manicures and pedicures are thorough, with a lot attention given to cuticles and calluses. The massages of hands, feet and legs feel terrific, topped off with hot cloths. The spa pedicure is a wonderful way to let the tensions of the day slip away and to walk out with beautiful feet. (A real bonus is that the pedicure basins are lined with disposable plastic liniers so you know you will not pick up anything a prior customer may have left behind.)
Waxing at Jeniette's is as painless as waxing can be, and the techinicians are very skilled and personable. They are especially adept at waxing the most tender of places.
Massages and facials are wonderful. Kathy works miracles on tense shoulder and neck muscles with her healing hands. She is as adept at giving a facial as she is in sussing out where your body needs attention.
Although I have a hair stylist in New Jersey to whom I remain loyal, whenever I've not been able to get to her, I've had great trims and stying from Jeniette's staff.
To sum up: All your beauty needs, from top to bottom, can be taken care of beautifully, comfortably, thoroughly and efficiently at Jeniette's. I feel very pampered and well cared for there.

Best Spa Service in Union Square!

The service is always great and the staff makes you feel welcome. Don't be fooled by the humble outdoor appearance, it is actually a premium salon and they offer most services (e.g. facial, eyelash tint and massage). It is highly recommended!
Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Value, Clean Service

Wonderful party location!
by EastVillageMom
For my daughter's seventh birthday, I hosted a party for 10 1st graders at Jeniette's salon. It was a wonderful experience! The girls loved their mani-pedi's, and felt like real princesses. The staff was extremely attentive, and took care of our every need. Of all the birthday parties I've thrown for my child, Jeniette's was by far the least expensive and easiest to execute. Our party at Jeniette was a huge success with both the girls and their moms. I highly recommend them to anyone.

I have been a customer at Jeniette's for over 20 years. I love Jenny and Rosa--they are like family. I have seen their children grow up.One of the wonderful things about Jeniettes salon is that it is like a big family with customers that have been there forever--mixed in with the new.
I use many of their services and am never disappointed.
Rosa is wonderful and is the eyebrow queen--among other things!
Kathy--does magic with her massages--and facials
Lisette--leg waxer --never hurts--she is very gentle
Linda--manicure and pedicure expert

Great Eyebrows? I think not.
by hsmurra
I went to see Rosa after reading about all of the good reviews. When I got to the salon on time for my appointment I had to wait fifteen minutes. When I finally went into the waxing room I told her that I wanted my eyebrows full with a nice clean shape to then. She handed me a mirror and told me what line to let grow out. 15 mins later when she was done she again handed me the mirror and my eyebrows were thin!! The line that she wanted me to grow out was completely gone! Very disappointing. To make things worse when I went to pay the guy at the front desk basically threw a tip envelope at me. Are you serious? You expect me to tip someone that took me fifteen minutes late and messed up my eyebrows? I have had better looking brows at threading shops that charger 6 dollars!
Pros: None
Cons: Staff expects at tip after a bad job.

My girlfriends and I treat ourselves to the spa experience a few times a year. We decided to try a different spa for each outing. Once we tried Jeniette's - we never went anywhere else! Our experience has always been very positive. All the workers are professional and skilled. The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly - and the prices are very reasonable. Best day spa in NYC
by bsb531
I first went to Jeniette a few years ago for a facial, massage, and pedicure. I loved it, but I ended up moving away from NYC for a couple of years and didn't have the opportunity to return. I just moved back a few months ago, and decided to check out Jeniette again for an eyebrow wax and a facial. Ola did my eyebrow wax and Kathy did my facial and they both did an outstanding job. My eyebrows never looked so good and the facial was perfect. Both Ola and Kathy put in quality time and were very skilled and experienced. Kathy did not restrict the facial to just my face; she also gave me a neck and upper back massage which was amazing and very relaxing. The cost didn't break my wallet either. I then made an appointment to return a month later for the same services. This time, Rosa did my eyebrow wax which, again, came out flawless. Kathy did my facial again and did an excellent job. This spa is the only spa that I have ever prepaid for the Special Value Pack Facial because I knew I'd be returning again and again. I definitely recommend Kathy, Ola, and Rosa, but I am confident that anyone here will do an outstanding job.

The BEST waxing experience EVER!
by jennifernewyork
I'm a recent Jeniette's customer (1year 3 month) and regret I did not find this place sooner. Waxing was always a curse word for me as I've been to many places all over the city and always with the same result, excruciating pain, rash and bleeding. This place was recommended to me by one of my co-worker and due to my bad experience I was very skeptical at first. It took me a while before I decided to go there and give it a shot. Well, since then everything has changed for me. I had an appointment with a very nice blond Russian wax girl Ola. Ladies, I've had the BEST waxing experience EVER and I mean it. She took such a great care of me. For the first time ever I had a very little pain I could handle with no problem (which is normal for this procedure especially in some delicate areas of the body), for the very first time I had no rash or bleeding. Ola was very nice, funny and extremely professional. You could tell she knew what she was doing. Her gentle hands and soft voice did magic. You won't probably believe it but I almost fall asleep during the procedure. Me, falling asleep during waxing???!!! Unimaginable.... From that day I became Ola's biggest fan. It can be quite hard to schedule an appointment with Ola as she is in a great demand but trust me the final result worth all waiting in the World. Thank You Ola!!!

Best all around for waxing & threading!
by smg239
I have been a loyal customer for 7 years now, ever since my friend raved to me about the lip threading she had done there and even after I moved out of Union Square to the Upper West Side 5 years ago. It has always been worth the trek! The setting is relaxing and the ladies who work there are friendly, quick, and ensure your waxing or threading is as painless as possible (yes, even the brazilians!). They even have given me some great pointers over the years, like how best to shape & maintain my eyebrows. It's best to make an appointment if you're in a rush, but if not, walk-ins are fine because your wait (never has been very long in my experience) will go by fast while you're perusing magazines and snacking on the pretzels, water, iced tea, or wine they set out around the comfy couches in the waiting area. Very nice touch! They truly care about their clients.
Pros: fantastic waxing & threading staff, excellent value, the best customer service, convenient location (Union Sq), Sunday hours
Cons: Nothing at all

Best Brazilian in Town
by captainkahn
I am extremely sensitive both mentally and physically when it comes getting a Brazilian Wax and Rosa from Jeniette?s is the VERY BEST there is. Rosa makes you feel at ease right away always taking your mind away from the virtually painless waxing. Along with the comfortable homey atmosphere of Jeniette?s Rosa is a pro and worth every penny for eye brown waxing and shaping-- I have gotten so many compliments. Though I have no one specific that I go to, I always have a wonderful mani/pedi experience, especially pedi in those comfy leather lazy-boy like chairs. If you?re looking to make your life a little more simple I would also recommend the eye lash tinting Rosa does, it was perfect over the summer with my tan- I barely had to wear make-up. Overall I give Jeniette?s two thumbs way up.
Pros: Top notch waxing, Great Atmosphere, Overall good pricing
Cons: Eye brown waxing is a bit expensive

Uptown Service Downtown Price
by karabaker
I don't know who to rave about first! Linda or Slyvia? ok they are both equally amazing. I'm very particular about my pedicures, I have to have someone who really knows what they are doing, they must know how to cut the nail and the skin properly, over wise I will inevitably get ingrown nails, both of these ladies are like doctors, and I trust them impeccably!
Sylvia also gives a fabulous massage.
Rosa is the best, my eyebrows have never looked better. Her Brazilian bikini wax doesn?t hurt at all.
I can not recommend this place more; I will not go anywhere else.
Pros: everyone is good here, the price is great
Cons: the decor is a bit funky

NOT FANCY, NOT CHEAP, GOOD WAXING
by maddeline
This place is a good spot if you are not looking for frills. they can usually squeeze you in.. its quick- clean- but not cheap. The location is excellent- right off of union square. Rosa is the queen of this place- no nonsense- and always in a good mood.
Pros: location
Cons: rude receptionists

Great Service!
by michco61
I have been a religious customer to Jeniette's Salon for 11 and a half years now and i have not had 1 bad experience. You walk in and to the left is the counter where you are greeted by a set of young receptionists who ask how they can help you. They will hand you a colored ticket depending on whether you are a "walk-in" or an "appointment" client. The waiting area is very comfortable and awaiting is a couch and seats withh big pillows,, magazines, a jug of wine, and pretzels.. the staff and the owner Jeniette are very nice and friendly and everyone knows your name compare this place to the T.V. show "Cheers" The services are wonderfull and not pricey at all, you get exactly what you pay for. the mani-pedis are noramlly price at around 31$ together. All the operators are really good and trained (as I hear) by Jeniette herself. The waxing is awsome and is quick and painlesss, go to Rosa for the best brows in nyc!!!

Best Waxing in Town!
by kingmorgansmooth
It is true that the atmosphere is not very relaxing - but for efficient and thorough waxing I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have been going here for 4 years and have never had a bad experience. Also, I use my debit card every time so I'm not sure what that other reviewer was talking about. The only thing they won't let you charge is the tip. I've seen just about every esthetician in the place, but my two favorites are Ely (esp. for brazilians) and Rosa (esp. for brows)
Pros: Thorough and efficient waxing
Cons: Not so hot if you're looking for a "spa" atmosphere

Fair Jeniette
by fabiola72
I have been going to Jeniette for four years and will always go back.
The location is a medium size loft which is well iluminated.
The staff is mainly latin american. The peolple at the cashier are asian.
I have never had a bad experience.
I really like the mani-pedis.
I keep going back for Silvia's great feet massages and body massages.
Liliana does a beautiful work on your hands and feet as well.
Sonia is my favourite when it comes to waxing.
You can have everything done (mani-pedis, whiole leg waxing, under arm)
for less than $100.
Everybody is very courteous.
The place is clean. I have read bad reviews about a hole in the wall.
Hummm... maybe that was when they were adding another bathroom
a few weeks ago? There was a construction going on...
If you want a sleek looking place, with people that will bring you coffee
and pastries and willing to pay 4 times more, this is not your place.
I go there in a weekly basis. But if you are looking for a once a month
pampering and you want to splurge go to the bergdorf goodman salon.
Bye, -F.
Pros: good service, fair prices, friendly
Cons: i don't find any really. i know what to expect

Loyal fan
by much2fabulous
I've been going to this spa almost every week for 10 years and I love this place! The services are reasonably-priced -- manicures, waxing, massages, facials -- and always great quality. The owner, the staff, and even the other regulars here are always friendly and really make you feel at home. I've been to some of the best spas in the city, yet I keep coming back to Jeniette. In my opinion, I don't know why you would go anywhere else.

Hole in the wall but with good waxing
by nyctransplant10001
Definitely not the most appealing interior and they could probably notch the cleaniess up a little.
On the positive side though, their wax is probably the least painful that I have used in a while. I keep going back to Sonia for waxing. She is really sweet, quick, and makes the experience as painless as possible.
Given that they are much cheaper than most places in the area, you get what you pay for in terms of interior.
Pros: Cheap, quick and painless waxing
Cons: Could be a little cleaner and the staff at the cashier a little friendlier

Insulting!
by sweettartz
To call this hole a ?spa? is insulting to the other lovely establishments in the city that also adorn that title. The website is completely misleading ? you don?t see the exposed duct work above you, you don?t get to see the glaring deli style red and white awning in front, and you don?t get introduced to their jug-o-wine and Dixie cup hospitality service that so many have mentioned in these reviews. Oh, their famed celebrity sightings ? Mandy Moore, Halle Barry ? probably were just that, sightings outside the place, but I highly doubt IN the ?spa.? I tend to take these reviews with a grain of salt ? everyone?s opinion differs right? I honestly don?t get how anyone has ever had a pleasant experience there. From the moment you walk in, you?re greeted by a glorified hole in the wall nail salon with a slew of non-English speaking girls. The music is not what you could ever deem as relaxing either ? if you can relax to hiphop, more power to you. Unless someone explained their ?ticket? system to you beforehand, good luck with that. Don?t expect service by any means, never mind courtesy. It just doesn?t exist. How they claim to have been in business since 1982 baffles me. Don't waste your time...spend the extra bit of money somewhere else!
Pros: Prices - what you get what you pay for
Cons: Just about everything

Never again...!
by mikookie
Dixie cups. Typically associated with mouthwash, and the occasional visit to the dentist, rarely would I expect to see a surplus of Dixie cups along side a large, and mostly empty jug of red wine. Did I mention the accompanying pitcher of iced tea that looked like it had seen better (read: cleaner) days? NYC is littered with hole-in-the-wall establishments. Sometime you stumble upon a well-kept secret. I have my own black book of great secrets. I had high hopes of adding Jeniette Spa to my little black book. Was I in for a tragedy. So tragic, in fact, that the drama started the day before. My girlfriend and I get together each month to unwind. This month?s play date would be a day at the spa. I looked at spaweek and came across Jeniette Spa. We booked the spa mani/pedi, 10min massage, & anti-aging facial. After a 50% deposit at booking time a month earlier, no reminder call. My girlfriend called the day before to confirm. What appointment? Jeniette gets on the line herself to accuse my friend of booking the wrong date, not showing up, then wanting to ?rip off a small business owner?. Jeniette booked the wrong date, made ugly accusations, then had the audacity to say she could ?squeeze? us in. Saturday morning I am looking forward to much needed pampering & QT. On to Jeniette. The entrance rivaled that of every deli in NYC. We sit at the reception area and are greeted by the Dixie cups. I go in for the pedi and my friend is led to her facial. Why aren't we together? ?Only one person for facials, so one at a time.? So much for QT. The pedi: seated in a recliner, the attendant brings me a basin of water. The poor girl is seated on a stool across from me as she hunches over to ?pamper? my feet on her lap. An hour goes by while Eminem played on the radio. Moving along the assembly line, my facial was actually nice. After another hour, I finally reunite with my friend for my mani, which was over before I knew it. What ever happened to the massages, we may never know.
