Average four stars really! Are you kidding, take a look around this is one of the dirtiest restaurants I know of. It should be called Dinjis! We liked it when it was new but the place gets dirtier by the day and the prices have gone up. The last two times we took friends there the majority of the party did not feel well afterwards. Read all of the reviews, clearly the owners are not customer oriented or they would clean the place and listen to their customers. Try the Iron Chef in Pickerington or one of the many other Japanese steakhouses, better food for the money can be found at almost any of the other similar establishments.

this place is my favorite place, the food is amazingly good, always hot and always taste fresh. i would recommend the Yum-Yum as the salad dressing, it comes with a dressing on it but you can ask for the Yum-Yum. Also the chefs are very entertaining!! i love to watch them prepare the food. i have never had a problem with any of the times i have gone. usually when you haev a large party that add tip into the check and when its less then 5 in a group the tip is seperate. i would recommend making reservations ahead of time. this place is awesome!

A party of 14 with reservations to celebrate a birthday. To start the party was separated. All but 5 were seated together. The other 5 were seated beside and had to wait for the other seats to be filled before we could order. Once the others arrived, they ordered from the bar. We had to wait on their drinks to get to the table before we could order. By the time we ordered the rest of our party, seated at the other table has already ordered, been served the broth, salad and the chef had started cooking their food. The waitress was not friendly or attentive. She did not give refills on our drinks. The hot tea was cold, one in our party of 5's ordered was not correct and the did not correct it until the meal was over. By the time we got our meal the rest of our party at seated at another table was already done with their meal and had their to-go boxes sitting in front of them. They watched us eat. The person celebrating their birthday finally go the "birthday package" that we ordered but the "package only included a pineapple section and one waitress beating a drum. We were so disappointed in the service that I refused to pay the 15% that the said they REQUIRE regardless of the service received. I paid 10% as the chef generally was ok. The waitress insisted that we had not paid the check in full and that is was "short. I paid the bill plus 10%. She called a manager that ran over to me and hovered over me demanding the rest of the "required tip". He would not even listen to the reason why the tip was less that they required. I left the money and bill and left the building. Two of the managers ran after me like bouncers and demanding the money. I went back into the resturant and tried to explain was the tip was not as they so call required. He still would not listen. I told him in a very calm way to call the police to solve this as they would not let me leave. After about 5 minutes he said he would accept my payment and then followed me out of the resturant and while other customers were coming in and the rest of our party was in the parking lot, he yelled at them all and told them that none of them were allowed back into the resturant. They were all banded because they were with me. Very unprofessional. And uncalled for. I paid the bill and more of a tip than was earned in my opinion. None of us will ever go to this resturant again and I plan to tell everyone I know about me visit to the establishment. DO NOT FREQUENT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE.

Genji's is a fine place if you never have a problem with service or food. "The customer is always right" does NOT exist at Genji's. Anytime there is a problem you're just screwed the managers argue with you about your experience and the staff just blames the managers. I would NOT recommend Genji's they're over priced anyway and there are a ton of other "Japanese Steak Houses" in Columbus that serve the EXACT same thing. Genji's is too full of themselves they think they can treat their customers any kind of way and get away with it lets send a message to them that they need to respect the customer and realize we keep them in business!

The show the chef's give is wonderful. I told my podiatrist about The Genji and they loved it so much that they are now regulars. His kids as well well as do mine think it's a great place to eat. Great food and great surroundings. However if you want to cut the wait down make sure to make a reservation.

Pros: The Filet Mignon is out of this world

I love this place. It has always provided the best Japenese food since I was little and they were located on Livingston Avenue. It is hard for me to believe that hair could possibly get into your food when the chef is cooking right in front of you and no one else had hair in thier food.......looks like someone didn't have enough funds for thier meal. And to the other negative comment,,,,,have you ever heard of a reservation, it gets you into the restaraunt quicker.

To those who are wondering why they hade to wait so long. Its because you need to call and make reservations! anyway. I've been going there since I can remember and have always gotten right in and seated. But if you don't make reservations then you will most def. have to wait. Either way its worth the money and the wait. I caint find a bad thing to say about this place.

We got to Genji for dinner and had to put our names on the waiting list. Twenty minutes after we got on the list, a group of teenager boys came in and started flirting with the hostess. She put their names on the waiting list, then seated them right away, and left us still waiting. Our total wait was 45 minutes. We brought it to the manager's attention and he was rude and non-helpful. He got very angry and argumentative with us. When we finally got seated, our check was $64 before tip for two adults and a child -- Very expensive for mediocre food and rude service. Take the little extra drive and go to the Japanese steakhouse on High Street across from the Convention Center!

I have lived around Columbus all my life. My daughter's birthday and mine are 6 days apart. I don't know how many years we've been going to Genji's for our combined birthdays. The atmosphere is always fun and I always laugh at the antics. My son asks to go there for his birthday as well (he's 25). The yum, yum is out of this world. The food is good and there is always plenty to take home.

I recently had dinner at the restaurant with 5 other individuals. My daughter found 3 hairs in her food and of course couldn't continue eating her meal. The management staff refused to take her meal off the bill. The manager was unprofessional and unreasonable . After disputing the incident the night of dinner, I contacted another manager the following day, who also refused to adjust the bill further or give some type of discount for the next time I would dine. I was basically told that they couldn't believe the story that hairs were found in the food, even when there were 5 other witnesses to the incident. When I asked to speak to the owner of the restaurant, they refused to give me his contact information.

I am appalled at the manner in which my party was treated and the poor customer service of this restaurant.

We just moved from Chicago, and we were looking for a fun Japanese steak house. A neighbor recommended Genji. We were very dissapointed. The sushi was tired. The ginger dressing for the salad was too gingery. They didn't even have a teriyaki dipping sauce with the food. We will never go back there again. My kids didn't even have fun there.

Okay, this place is awesome! My husband and I come here for any birthday or anniversary. The staff is always friendly, and the food is amazing. They offer a different variety of options, but I love the combo dinners. The chefs are fun to watch. They have 2 locations, on on Brice Rd. and on Sawmill Rd. I've been to both. If you have a large party, the Sawmill location may be better as it is bigger with a large waiting room. I usually do not like asian food at all but this was totally different. Quality cuts of meat and they can make it any way you like. I always forego the mushrooms and bean sprouts and they just give more to the other guests. If you want a nice dinner, check out Genji. -And don't forget to try the "yum yum" sauce!

I have been going to Genji's for years and I keep going back because its so good! They have not cut back on their service and offerings like so many other Japanese steak houses and their chiefs are the BEST! This is a great place to have a good time, to meet people or to take a date. Make sure you have reservations, though because their parking lot is always full!

Go-chuumon wa? My wife and I being from Chicago, are not easily impressed by most of the Columbus venues. You could almost say we are picky diners. I will have to say that Genji, is by far one of the top ten Japanese restaurants of national scale. I have eaten at Benihana's, Ichiban's, Mt Fuji's in California, Chicago, N Carolina, Minnesota...etc. Now I dont claim to be a food critic and as we know tastes differ, But Genji, is definately a new spin on the common theme. Their showmanship is more... theatrical. Giant 6-7 ft flames licking the ceiling... new spins on old tricks... the chef even asked me to open my mouth and gave me a little treat from 5 ft across the grill. The experience really was GREAT!!! The wait was not long for a typical saturday weekend, we waited 30 mins no reservations. O-nomimono wa ikaga desu ka? They could make the bar bigger (bar only seats about 8), since we had to wait about 5 mins to get a seat at the bar while wating for our table. Overall the place ismaller than most steakhouses, but that may add to the charm. The portions were good and the price right on target for a restaurant of this calibre. The food taste again was great, I was not enthralled by the yum yum sauce it was good, but didn't think it to be spectacular. I actually prefer the ginger sauce. There beer selection was ok, and the wine modest, they did have some of traditional japanese drinks, I recommend the cold sake... very easy to drink. I personally dont care for the warm sake, i find it too harsh and dry. Okimaridesu ka?

Been to Genji twice...Both times were great!. Food and service was excellent. Only negative on second visit, after arriving on time for reservations on a Friday nite, was waiting another hour for our seats. Waitroom was jammed. Two ladies next to us had been waiting two hours for their seats. Finally we were seated, and the rest of the nite there was nice, only late.
If you are a first-timer, avoid peak weekend times and your experience will be alot better.

Genji is by far the best Japanese steakhouse in Central Ohio. The overall atmosphere is outstanding, gives you a warm welcome feeling. The service is top notch with a very low turnover rate. The chef's are outstanding, from erupting volcanos to the snap of the spatula on the salt shaker, it's all top notch. Yum Yum sauce is great as well as the portions (for both dinner and lunch) but the best thing about Genji is the taste of the food. Perfect 10 out of 10!

I haven't been to a hibachi grille in a while and this was definitley worht it. The Yum Yum sauce everybody raves about is more like a mixture of ranch and thousand island dressings and cream. It's good, but I was expecting something more exotic. Prices were reasonable. Good place for a date or a group of friends.

OMG What is there bad to say about Ganji's? I have been going to this restaraunt since 1999 and I have fallen in love all over again. The food is wonderful there and the best thing that I like is the shogun special. It comes with Lobster and scallops and you can even get shrimp with it. Their steaks are to die for also, I always get a order of steak for $5.95 additional. Now it does cost between $25-$30 per person for dinner there, but they also have Lunch everyday besides Saturday and also on Sunday and you can eat for around $10.00 a person the savings is unbelievable. I try to go on Sundays alot. I would recommend a reservation for dinner unless you want to wait 2 hours for the meal of your life.

OMG, u have to go to Genji, it is the best restarunt i have ever been to in my entire life. i mean they really know how to cook some serious food, and it's super entaining too. its great for parties or whatever. They have this stuff called yum yum sauce and it the BOMB i mean u can put on ur rice and its like a plate of heaven, u can put it on everything. The chefs are funny as hell and if u really want a good one then u have to request Tokyo Joe he is so funny. So get urself there as fast as u can.

Pros: Great food, Awesome Chefs, Very Entertaining

Cons: Kinda Pricy at dinner, sometimes long waits

Genji's is by far the best "Japanese" steak house in the city, and Ive been to all of them. The double yum-yum sauce is the best, and all the chefs are entertaining, as well as excellent cooks. I disagree that folks dont see this a good place for kids...it is perfect for children...the chefs will make any kid laugh, and any child will enjoy. Not so romantic, but only because of the typical "gang" seating familier with "Japanese" resturants.

Always get Yum Yum sauce. They'll ask if you want ginger, but you don't. Get the Yum Yum.
