Being newly disabled I needed something to do with in my budget. I called this shop and was given very good directions. I came in the back door and found a very long stair case. I have trouble with steps but went down anyway. I am glad I did as I was greeted right away by a friendly gentleman. Turns out he is the owner; he answered all my questions and did not use any pressure at all. He even made recommendations to less costly items I could use. Now I??ve been to this shop two times. Went back last week and that is what prompted me to type this. I for the life of me cannot remember the owner??s name. HOWEVER; he remembered mine. This was normal years ago but not now. He has won me as a customer. He even steered me away from a model that was over $80 as it was above my ability right now. He cares. Well lit store lot of stock and he will order but it takes time.

Have been in the hobby of R/C cars for 15+ years, Have bought 3 cars from this store. Friendly family ran business, couldn't ask for a better place in NE Ohio. As any R/C enthusiast knows, when you break a part on your car, they always seem to have it in stock, or are willing to order if for you. When I bought my last car, the price there was lower then some were selling for online, very competitive prices.

They have a very nice selection of plastic models and finishing supplies as well. Could use more books & magazines. The store is a big upgrade compared to the old store which was like a musty, old basement. New store is well lit and attractive. The owner is a nice enough guy. The only reason I wouldn't rate it any higher are the prices. They are very expensive, with items at full retail and sometimes even over retail! What's that about? Not even a discount to regular customers, which I am...or was. Add to that gasoline prices, and I really can't say it's a place to find a bargain. No sales or clearance tables? While I like to support my local hobby shops, I can find anything I want on the internet for a lot cheaper and still receive it in two days. Too bad.

For Christmas, my nephew received a $140 Lionel gate/crossing purchased a month prior from The Whistle Stop. We took it back to the store for an exchange. The one they had on the shelf was also malfuctioning. I asked for a store credit / or a refund I was told that I had to take it up with Lionel. It was up to me to pack it, pay the shipping, and wait six weeks to get my broken one repaired and reshipped. Even though it was non operational when it was purchased - they would not take it back. To make matters worse, Lionel wants a dated receipt from an Authorized dealer showing the item - well.. thier receipt does not have their name on it and it is so faded, it is no longer readable. It also does not show their part no. The Whistle Stop has their $140 for a broken gate that has become quite a head ache...

My office is in the same vicinity as this store, & I've been in there a few times. Every time it's the same great service. They have all the train accessories & R.C. car parts you'll need for your next project. I highly recommend that you check this place out, it's filled with many different scale trains. I look forward to the next time we will stop in & see the setup.

The shop was sold a little over a year ago and the new owner is GREAT. Friendly, smart, helpful, and loves what he does. He is ably assisted by his parents and occasionally other family members. The store is clean, well lighted, and convenient.Variety of stock is good--plastic models, balsa models, model railroad, RC cars, and the tools and supplies to support it all. If it's not in he's willing to order it if you can be a little bit patient. I considered 5 stars, but decided that "World Class" is a bit of a stretch. "Very Good" is an understatement.

This shop is the kind I like - an old, dusty train store full of out-of-production models and used equipment. I understand that the store is for sale right now. It would be sad to see it go away, especially because the downtown Cuyahoga Falls shopping district needs retail stores to come in, not leave. The one hassle about going in their has been that the main guy that works there (NOT the owner) always embarks on unwanted ultraconservative political rants, accompanied by a knowing smirk and the assumpytion that you MUST agree with him. I don't!!!!! And he should lay off.
